    Garlic tonkatsu ramen, delish!!!
    Andrew S.

So I'm finally done with a long day dealing with teaching, talking and students code when I see a highly rated ramen join pass by so I can't abandon them. I order the classic tonkatsu ramen and it shows up in minutes from the guy behind the counter, super polite and encouraged me to play video games too. The whole place has this, "neighborhood poke shop" vibe that I just enjoy. While I'm not a fan of onion, bamboo shoots or the veggies in my ramen they were picked out soon enough. It's flavorful and you can tell something is unique about the serving which was flavorful but not as nearly strong as I like it from Kuzikai Ramen in seattle but late night small town beggars can't be choosers. 4.5 stars out of 5 and I would buy from here again. If I find you hipsters complaining this guy doesn't have the 31 flavors of kombucha you love just go elsewhere, preferably the moon.

Quick, fresh, affordable, and great service! No frills joint that offers sushi, poke, ramen, and curries. Very clean inside, owner was very friendly. Plan to back more!

Poke fresh is an amazing neighborhood restaurant in Roosevelt!! I stumbled upon this place and it is a great hole in the wall spot for some quick sushi. Nearly everything on the menu is buy one get one free!! I couldn't believe it. The portions are generous and the sushi is good! The rice is a little mushy but honestly for the price, I'm not looking for much more! It is a great spot if I don't want to cook dinner and want a cheap meal. The owner is very kind as well. The poke is amazing too! They have pre marinated poke like Hawaii which is hard to come by. I will definetly be coming back to this place!

This is a hidden gem! Don't get thrown off by the name, they have more than just Poke. The eel roll and chicken roll are both cooked. The sushi rice in the rolls has the perfect amount of softness and stickiness, the eel tasted very fresh. I ordered them with eel sauce. The fish bone soup is also very tasty, salty, but if you water it down a bit, it's perfect! This place also has ramen! The owners of the restaurant are very welcoming and attentive.

As a college student, late nights are often a staple part of the academic experience. Given the limited selection of restaurant options after hours, Poke Fresh has stood out as a late night go-to. The value of the food here is unbeatable. Between the $8 donburi, $4 salmon collar, $10 sukiyaki and other affordable Japanese comforts, there are few other places that provide the same bang for buck; and, they absolutely do not skimp on portions for the price. It's not the best food you'll ever have, but it hits the spot every time. The atmosphere is modern yet cozy, and the employees are always kind and accommodating to match. Highly recommend this place for an affordable, reliable meal.

Great place that stays open late! Too many Poke places seem to close earlier than other types of restaurants. Poke Fresh is open until 1:30 AM, which is awesome! My son and I went to Poke Fresh after a Yelp search and found this place to be quite good. Parking sucks but it's like that everywhere in the U District. I did however notice the Link Light Rail Roosevelt Station is just up the street so that is a great option to avoid the parking hassle. We each got the medium sized make your own bowl which comes with 2 proteins as well as a bevy of choices for other toppings, etc. I love the variety of choices and selected the Ahi and Spicy Salmon. They allow half and half of bases like several rice varieties or greens so I got half salad greens and half brown rice. The service was great with a very nice and accommodating server. Kinda weird they played Hispanic music over the speakers for the entire restaurant but maybe the employees get their choice when working. No biggie. I'll return here one day and will likely take the light rail for convenience.

I come here for poke once a month or so, it is conveniently located and not in the heart of U District, which I pretty much avoid. The servers are always really friendly when I come in, they take my order promptly and aren't skimpy on the portions. The food always tastes and feels fresh. I like the options of toppings and mix-ins, as well as the sauces and fish options. You really can make it whatever you want! I always go heavy on the salmon, and theirs is pretty dang good! It's not the most attractive place to sit in to eat, it's very basic, but the people watching sitting at the windows is unbeatable.

Good quality, fast service, open late. A little pricey but good quality and portion. Been a few more times and recommended to folks in the area. It may be hard to communicate through the glass partition so be sure to speak clearly.

God I love this place. The owner is so nice too which makes the food taste 10 x better. I love their classic Japanese curry.

For the price they offer, the quantity and quality was worth it. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful and met my poke needs. I got the small size and it was perfect! They put so much of each ingredient you want especially the protein and I appreciated that very much. The employees there were super nice and the place was clean and welcoming.

We went for the beef tartare, Chinese scallion pancake, smoked tofu, kimchi trio, spicy rice cake, Chinese broccoli, "that" short rib steak, Kalbi burger, and the kombu cured mackerel. Everything was #brokedamout. The standouts to me were the scallion pancake, short rib, Kalbi burger and mackerel. Parking is available on the street and in private lots. Sushi Kappo Tamura is a small restaurant in Seattle that is great for date nights or celebrations big and small. Everything tastes awesome!! We started with some oysters, so plump and juicy and seasoned with a little soy sauce, then moved on the sushi and sashimi, midori egg and crab chawan mushi ( steamed custard ). Then I had chirashi, my grandson had yellowtail fish collar ( that 4 year-old kid finished it all! ) my son-in-law had the 5 course omakase, my daughter had sashimi and my granddaughter had nigiri, roll and geoduck. We polished it all and then desserts. Service was awesome, our main server was a young lady, on point for friendliness and efficiency. All staff worked well together, clearing dishes and bringing new ones. Dinner took 2 hours and made a dent in the credit card but was well worth it. The dining room and counter were completely full, so this small restaurant is much appreciated by locals. There is a parking lot next block of the restaurant.

Perhaps because we are dining the omakase at the sushi counter, we received top-tier attention. I don't know. Reserving a seat wasn't stressful (unlike some places in Seattle). We had some quality seafood that we thoroughly enjoyed. The interior vibe is modern Japanese. We were amongst the last diners to leave, as we were having fun with the staff. We added two more pieces and desserts; they comp'd my dessert for my birthday. All the seafoods are amazingly fresh. Similar to the Newyorkturk with his Michelin approach, Omakase is the best way to eat sushi. Both desserts are excellent! Fortunately, the restaurant delivers on nearly every level. Of course, it's an expensive dining experience, but compared to several other high-end meals I've had in Seattle recently, this one felt worth every penny. There was a bit of chaos when we first arrived due to multiple large wedding parties waiting in the lobby, and the staff seemed a little overwhelmed and unsure of where everyone should go. Fortunately, that was quickly forgotten once we were seated at our table overlooking one of the most stunning restaurant views in Seattle. The dining experience is refreshingly simple: make three choices and Canlis takes care of the rest. The result is a beautiful six-course meal that leaves you full but not stuffed. Each course felt thoughtful, showcasing the simplicity, beauty, and precision of the food. Our service was excellent and absolutely justified the included 20% gratuity. I only wish some of Seattle's other restaurants that automatically add 22% could deliver service that comes close to what we experienced here. My selections were the sashimi, lamb, and rhubarb courses, and all were delicious. That said, my favorite dessert of the evening was actually the apricot dessert. All four of us agreed it was the standout sweet course, and I'd highly recommend choosing it if it's available during your visit. Other highlights included the bread service with butter and miso caramel, which was memorable enough to deserve special mention. The lamb was beautifully cooked and paired wonderfully with the fig accompaniment. I can't wait to return to Canlis. Yes, it's expensive, but it's one of those rare dining experiences where the cost feels completely justified. It's a shame Michelin doesn't currently come to Seattle, because Canlis deserves the recognition.

And I'm not one to let the supposed best restaurant in Seattle death grip that title without my critical personal analysis. So what did I really think after reading others' reviews? Oh, let me tell you. Reservations can be hard to come by. To get a babysitter and an available reservation to align took us many attempts but alas we finally did it. First up for me was: Will the ticketless valet REALLY be what it says it is (and what is DOESN'T say it is?)? By the end of our visit--and after curiously inquiring how the valet's do it--we were impressed! They do it; they did it; you have to try it and I will explain no mysteries for that ruins part of the joy of this place. Next up: the surprising and gorgeous story behind this place. I mean, go ahead and read up on it. Or preferably, my advice: don't. Let that be part of the allure and your journey; allow for the staff to tell you. That was my experience and I delighted in the surprise and joy of it. Not to mention the intrigue of...: why, is that the current owner, son/grandson? Touching tables? Checking in on clientele? Yes, yes, I think it is! In the finer details I noted homage to heritage AND the PNW in the pale mauve/lavender table cloth, a salt dish with a weight & story despite its minute size (do not steal to the tune of a $450 charge on your bill, but do attempt to lift it!), and evergreens from out the window views to being decor to your dishes. All staff on point when you move about. Piano covers of modern songs looped in to the restrooms. A cozy fire. A gorgeous view so quintessential to the area. Cocktails, a starter, a 3 piece first course to REVEL in (think: flavor + texture + temperature = mind palate JOY gears spinning in ecstasy!). I took no photos because I wanted to be so PRESENT for this journey and I have no regrets on that; I want you to also be open to the surprises of this meal! There are a thousand places for a hundred people to find dissatisfaction in a fine dining meal and I did not have much to come up with; rather: I was quite pleased with my experience! And I would withhold praise if I could find true and valid reason, I do have grumpy east coast roots after all! Our server Mac was wonderful! Informative, knowledgeable, kind, smart, helpful, personable, laughed at my joke of "what first course, we never got it!" all the things we needed in a waiter! We swapped restaurant and food recommendations back and forth from Maui to PNW (quite an added bonus when we find a waiter as food curious and open to sharing and learning as us!). I couldn't believe we were there for nearly 3 hours of fine dining because we love good food and can hoover it quite readily but we were having so much fun that time just flew by. Say yes to the salad; it's not only a historical throwback, it's also a delicious smattering of flavors! Say yes to wine, dessert, coffee and also, if so kindly and rarely offered: a visit to see the kitchen in action! And as always, be respectful of the hardworking crew that brings your experience to being: it takes the effort of so many to knock a meal out of the park and as I understand it this place does it meal after meal table after table night after night--a true feat in this day and age! Was this place worth the hype? Were most to ALL bites fantastic? Was the head chef down to earth, kind, relatable, talented, and worthwhile of this Seattle location staple, name, and locale "rank"? Yes, Chef!!
