I've had Poke before in several different cities and its great seeing it break into the Austin food scene so Amanda S. and I stopped by one day on whim and had a great experience! I've seen some reviews that complain about the portion and price. I kinda decided to go big so we each got a large portion and side of rice to share. We had almost more food than the two of us could eat. The whole meal was delicious and had all the right flavors in all the right places. It wasn't perfect I could have had more spice on the spicy and I could do for maybe some Wasabi around as a condiment but I will definitely come back. read more

Very disappointed that after showing this plate to a chef who made my poke bowl that I called "jalapeño bowl" getting an answer : "Nobody complains" . Not even a sorry, just that. It was my favorite place, not anymore.. read more

Came to get some poke after a morning of hiking in the Texas summer. Unfortunately, they did not have any indoor seating so we didn't get to escape the heat. However, the food was still delicious and fish was fresh. I got the large traditional spicy tuna which is basically just their OG with spicy sauce added on. The size looked really underwhelming at first, but man they give a lot of fish for ~$15. Solid place if you're craving poke! read more

I'm glad to be back in Austin and visiting all my old food favs. Decided to take my mom and sister to some poke for a lighter lunch. You're no longer able to go inside due to COVID 19 rules, but they do have a patio set up for outside eating which is nice. The staff is the same and taking precautions very serious which is great. I always love seeing that independent restaurants in the area are still thriving even with to go and curbside pick up! read more

I'll preface that I'm from California so I'm mos def pretty spoiled with an abundant supply of high quality poke. So to that end, it doesn't quite hit as high in poke quality as the west coast. Nevertheless comparing this to Tejas as a whole, I think it does pretty well. The workers care about the food, how they serve it, and what the customers feel afterwards. I believe I got the "large" - tbh not that large in quantity - Aloha with all the fixings. A bit expensive, but what can you do in a land locked city? It was satisfying, but I definitely was hungry still after. The food was just seasoned and not overzealous with sauce. The brown rice was pretty good as well. Really enjoyed the Poke here. The base price was reasonable but once you added toppings it added up to be a bit pricey (avacado is $2, edamame .50, etc). But the person working was super nice and helpful and I enjoyed the ambiance! Really good poke for Austin! read more

As a spoiled socal girl, I was a bit shocked by the prices listed on the wall. Is this a joke?? And the portion sizes here are small, so I felt reluctant to get anything. After I got over myself, I ordered a small spicy poke and it was fresh and enjoyable. The employees here are very friendly and did a great job mixing and ensuring a even distribution of flavor through the poke. It helps that there is a slight discount on all orders during happy hour (4-6 PM), so I recommend stopping by during those hours if you have a chance! Fun place and decently solid poke. I got the poke salad and appreciated the macadamia nuts adding a fun crunch to the refreshing salad. My lunch companion loved his bowl too. One of the male employees kept pulling out his phone camera and pointing it in my direction, though. Would be nice for customer comfort if that happened less next time. Of the South Austin locations, this one is FAR SUPERIOR. Their fish quality is beyond better, and the care to preparing the ingredients is beyond apparent. I've dined in and taken out at both locations, and on all occasions, this location NEVER disappoints. I'm grateful to have experienced this brand with this location first as they've made it a crave-able thing for me. This is the best poke place in Austin, and I've been in the field for a while, trust. I don't stray from my favorite, the OJ bowl with white rice, but the shiso salmon bowl looks pretty delicious as well. Poke-Poke is super consistent. The food is always fresh, beautiful, and delicious. The staff is super friendly and the shop is clean and bright. It's a pleasant place to stay and eat, if you can get a place to sit (there's a reason why people eat here). I don't live or work anywhere near Soco but going the extra mile to get some of the best food in town is more than worth it. read more

My absolute favorite place to get poke in Austin! It's become a common thing now to add all these different toppings to poke, but poke poke does the classics so well. They do what they do best! The portions are hefty and it's so worth it to get the bigger size if you're ever on the fence. Parking is abundant, no worries about that as well! read more

Love poke poke! One of my favorite places to go grab lunch or dinner when I'm craving something healthy and savory. I frequented this spot a lot for pick up when Covid hit and they carried me through a good part of 2020! The staff is always friendly and I'm pretty sure some of them recognize me at this point. :) Their OG bowl with tuna is my go to and delicious every time! You can customize your bowl and add or remove whatever you like. read more

Poke-Poke is the most solid poke place I've been to in Austin. I always order the Aloha and add avocado and seaweed--it's very customizable. They have outdoor seating, which is relevant in our times. When my order arrived without the avo I ordered, the staff were quick to rectify the mistake. It would be five stars but there were mistakes with the other orders at our table as well. Of course human error is natural and the food is really good otherwise! read more

This place was really hard to find at first. We looped around this area 3 times before finding it. I think they should definitely have a sign so it's easy for people to see the restaurant is there. I like the interior and the seating area because you can see everything and very well-lit. They currently only have ahi poke bowls and salmon is coming soon. I feel like their fish is fresher in comparison to Ola Poke. But topping wise, the options are limited. They don't even have the option to add seaweed salad or mango to the bowl, which I think goes really well in a poke bowl. The meat was chopped very unevenly. Some pieces were huge and some were normal. The brown rice could have been more cooked and I feel like that's often a problem in a lot of restaurants. Overall, because the fish was fresh enough, I still rate this higher than Ola Poke. As for around $13(without extra cost of avocado and macadamia nuts), I think there should be more toppings and and more bases like soba noodles. The lil poke bowl is like a snack size. It's only enough to fit fish probably so I'm questioning why that's even an option. They usually use that to fit a side of seaweed and they're using it to fit a $8 poke bowl. So if you want a meal, you have no choice but to get the big bowl. Since it just opened, I hope it will get better. read more

The best poke for the bang! This is a true Hawaiin style poke and super fresh. I usually get the pound poke with add on masago. It's a lot cheaper than costco's poke. I make the rice, and other poke toppings at home. They sort of overcharge the rice, but it seems more connivence? Best poke go to order: Yowza Yuzu - Hamachi or Salmon by the pound Big Jim - Tuna or Salmon by the pound + add cucumber, masago, seaweed Customer service is great. The guys behind the counter are super chill and friendly. read more

I do not advise you to go here for poke. You can obviously find a better and more affordable poke place around Austin. Portion control is real on this poke place, besides the options given here is limited. Do yourself a favor by not striving for the bare minimum at this place! The price is outrageous for the amount they serve to you. Also service provided here was not welcoming at all. The workers deemed as closed off, impatient, arrogant, and in a rush to talk to one another besides the customer. They lack professionalism and was in their own world. Even the restroom deemed unsanitary. Honestly expected high hopes from the other reviews, but turned out to be a major disappointment. Save your money and your energy on this place. We took our order to go and the containers come in the smallest tupperware possible. Poke containers are supposed to have room to mix the ingredients. Everything was a tight squeeze and was literally about to bust open. It honestly could fit like two boiled eggs, if that's what you want for the prices you are paying for. read more

All I can say is wow! The quality of food and beer, level of freshness, variety and friendly helpful employees made this one of our favorite quick meals to date! We picked it on a whim from yelp as we are visiting from out of town. Great choice! We had the 16oz ahi aloha poke bowl Hawaiian Style (no rice), with a side of rice and two beers! It was perfect! We also were there during happy hour (can't find the hours for that but it's daily!) and we ended up with something like $8 off! Bonus! The best poke in Austin so far if you ask me. I was born and raised in Oahu and grew up until my adult life constantly eating poke. I just moved to Austin in April and am so happy to find a spot that is pretty darn close! I love that they can just serve it to you with only fish and rice, just how it should be! The seasoning is absolutely perfect and the fish is fresh too. Parking is super plentiful and easy to get. To top it off, I grabbed a canned juice, and it felt like I was back at home. read more

Keep your eyes open or you'll miss this hot spot! Besides the Hawaiian truck up north this is serious poke business! A small simple clean shop that has several seating spots and you can also seat yourself at the counter. You can see the prep table right behind the counter. We ordered the spicy poke Hawaiian style(no rice =more fish) FRESH and delicious! They give you a decent amount! They mix in fresh avocado, carrots, onions and plenty of sauces. I'm so disappointed. I was looking forward to trying this poke, and I ordered the salmon and paid extra for avocado. Not only did they not include the avocado I paid for, the whole thing was covered in ginger which was not listed anywhere in the description. I really wanted to love this place because I am a huge fan of poke. It's pretty good but the amount of food you get for the price they charge is just not worth it. It's around the corner from my house and I've been there twice in a year and a half. I don't think I would ever go back unless they either lower their prices or give you more poke for what you are spending. I feel like I've paid $20 for maybe $12 worth of food. read more

Poke-Poke was the very first made-to-order poke restaurant to hit the mainland. Owner Jason lived in Hawaii for 5 years, living on surf, beer and poke. As all good ideas come to fruition, it was when Jason introduced his wife and co-owner, Trish to Poke that the lightbulb came on.. we need to bring poke to LA.

I wish I could say this was a one-time issue. It's not. I've been trying this restaurant, on and off, for over 15 years, and I kept giving them chance after chance because I wanted so badly for it to be good. I first met the owner when he ran a food truck, before the restaurant existed. I was excited; there weren't many Jamaicans in Austin at the time, and I was happy to support one. I ordered curry goat, took it to my car, and found the meat flavorless, fatty, and poorly trimmed; basically inedible. I threw it away in the parking lot. I later ordered oxtail through Uber Eats: flavorless again, poorly prepped meat, and an actual rock in the rice and peas. I tried introducing the child to Jamaican food with one of their beef patties, and it was dry and flavorless. Yesterday I ordered the "safest" thing on the menu, brown stew chicken, specifically because I no longer trust myself to spend real money on anything more ambitious here. I still got food that had clearly been microwaved and reheated unevenly, served with a piece of chicken that was still cold. Are we really selling microwaved leftovers out of an established restaurant with a huge kitchen? Jamaican food is something our culture takes real pride in. This restaurant has had a decade and a half to get it right, and instead I've watched it consistently cut corners on seasoning, on prep, and now on basic food safety. I don't say this lightly: if you want real Jamaican food, this isn't where you'll find it, and depending on the day, what you're served may not even be handled safely.

Heard about this place off of someone I follow on Instagram posted a picture of the Poke and knew I would need to check it out for myself. While visiting Austin, my friend and I looked this place up on Yelp and found our way. So easy to find! The reviews were spotty but I wanted to check it out anyways. So glad I did! Great experience! The poke is delicious. I really like that they serve it with your choice of white or brown rice. It really cuts the salty-ness of the poke by itself. They offer it with different combinations. Soooooo good! I will visit again. If I had to mention a downside it would be that during our visit it wasn't busy, but they missed part of the order I made, had to finally ask where the rest of my order was. It's not a big BIG deal but it makes me wonder of the times they are busy. Would orders possibly fall between the cracks?!
