There are lots of food trucks in The Yard and we decided to order from Spicy Boys. We ordered online and I walked over to pick up our food. The Crispy Asian Fried Chicken is outstanding! We got the 5 Piece Drums & Thighs with some Tingly Tater Tots, which is plenty of food for 2 people. The Thai Basil Ranch sauce was phenomenal. I normally visit a north Spicy Boys location, but I wanted to give some love to the spot on St. Elmo Rd also. Had the OG Chicken sandwich here about a week or so ago, and it was SO good. The chicken was crispy and perfectly tender, and the combo of sauce and papaya slaw flavors was perfection. Might have been one of the biggest pieces of chicken I've had on a sandwich in a while too. On my last visit I tried the banana pudding and my only complaint is that I wanted more! I went with the OG and was a bit underwhelmed. + super friendly guy working at the truck + presentation and packaging is functional & gramworthy for sure + the Asian take on it is really interesting and adds some great flavors + in a town where food trucks somehow implies premium pricing, this was very reasonable However: - the OG sandwich needed just a little more of a kick to it. - the bun/meat ratio was way too light. Bun was thin and didn't have the stregnth to appropriately house the sizable bird. Started to get soggy. Also, maybe it's a personal thing, i don't like when the chicken is too thick and the breading starts to fall off. Maybe I am wrong and I'll probably try it and other things there again. But at this point, it's not really going to be a destination for me to grab sandwiches or put on my list to take friends/family visiting to. read more

There's bone-in chicken, nuggets, sandwiches, tots, and a variety of other options There was a QR code we used from the bar and it was painless to peruse the menu and order (you can also order at the food truck window). We were also pleasantly surprised to find it didn't take long at all to get our order. We were notified by text when our order was ready Again, this was one of the best meals I've had in a long time, and I don't typically enjoy food truck food. Since our exchange was quick, I can't say much about the customer service. The food itself was excellent. The OG Fried Chicken Sandwich was flavorful, the chicken was moist, and the papaya salad added a nice texture with a good balance of sweet and spicy. The nuggets were a standout. The Sichuan seasoning really came through and the crunch was perfect. The Thai basil ranch that came with them paired so well, adding a creamy break to the zingy flavor. The classic tots were also great, lightly seasoned and extra crunchy. I've never been a fan of tater tots, but these were amazing! I might come back for the tater tots alone! I love Spicy Boys. We usually go to the truck at Zilker on 6th because it's walking distance from our apartment. This location is just as good as our go-to. Service is friendly and fast. Spicy Boys was the perfect way to kick off our recent Texas visit. Our flight landed late, local time, and we were hankering for some food since our dinner time had passed while we were in the air. The timing worked out in our favor, where we were able to place an order online for pick up about 5 minutes before they were scheduled to close. We ordered the O.G. and Hot Gai fried chicken sandwiches, with tingly sichuan tater tots and som tam (papaya salad) as our sides. The pick-up process was easy once we arrived and let them know our order name, and we took our bag back to our Airbnb to eat (although we did sneak some tots in the car and they were delicious). Oof the food was sooo good. Even with the drive, the chicken was still crispy on the outside but nice and juicy on the inside. The tots were really flavorful with the seasoning and the papaya salad was refreshing and the perfect complement to our meal. The Hot Gai was perfect amount of spicy, not so much it kills you, but enough to remind you you are still alive!!! The 5 piece of perfection pushed me into a small coma and after a few hours of heavenly napping, we split the tingly Gal and a movie. The funny part was how we missed the movie because we were so happy just talking about the food. A vegetarian going to a spicy chicken food truck place? YES! Don't let the name of the truck fool you they do have vegetarian options and they are delicious! All their chicken sandwiches can be made vegetarian by changing the chicken patty to fried tempeh option. The fried tempeh was delicious, fried to perfection and didn't have the aftertaste that a lot of tempeh products can have. I had the Hot Gali sandwich and it was great with some nice crunch and even though it was marked as spicy, I didn't find it overly spicy (I think Siracha is hotter than the sandwich). I also absolutely loved their tater tots because of the seasoning! It has a savory and very slight sweet component that balances well. They are located outside St. Elmo's and plenty of outdoor seating since connected with brewery. I would recommend putting your order in early - took us about 20-25 minutes to get ours on a Saturday night around 8:30 PM when the rest of the food trucks has closed up. My favorite panang curry in Austin! It's actually kind of insane that I haven't written this review yet because I've been going at this particular location for 3 years now. We always online order after we get our first round of beers and our food is usually ready within a half hour which is perfect. I've tried everything on their menu (and they occasionally add special items, mostly during The Yard themed quarterly events). I Always order the panang curry (with extra roti), Tingly tots, Spicy pickles, and hot nugs. This is a go-to meal that we have at least quarterly through the year. The meat is thigh meat and creates a tasty, tender, rich flavor profile. I love that you have the choice of different levels of heat for the items, like they offer "classic tots" which have no heat at all if that's not your thing. The tater tots are a great level of crispy on the outside, but still light and fluffy on the inside. You can also sub for cauliflower tots. This place shines in quality. Never skip the sauces either! Great, friendly service from the truck and they never let your order sit, it's always piping hot. Ordering on their QR code is simple and makes sense. That portal also lets you know if anything is currently out or not available through them. Soooooo good!! I got the sandwich with massaman curry flavors. The bread is just enough to protect your hands from getting too dirty. Soft brioche(?) type and not thick so it focuses you on the chicken. The fried chicken -- all thigh meat so extra flavorful, tender, and never dry. So so so much flavor throughout the whole thing. And the chicken was also busting out the sandwich, as you can see from my photo. And I love the massaman flavor!! I have been itching to try this place since it opened due to the hype. It did NOT disappoint. Went with some friends so we got to try multiple things: Fried chicken - top favorite. Since they are smaller, you don't get the same juiciness as the full chicken, but the flavor is still there. These were fun to try the multiple dipping sauces we got. Fried Chicken Sandwich - the people's favorite. Can't go wrong here. Tater Tots - we tried both the regular and tingly Sichuan spicy ones. The seasoning was perfect on the regular ones. The spicy ones had so much flavor. Hard to choose which one we enjoyed more. Spicy pickles - I am a pickle addict and wanted to try these. They were different. Everyone said they were just okay. I would not get them again. Banana pudding - Not your ordinary pudding at all. It's more of a water gravy consistency which was weird at first. The flavor is very good though and the black crunchy sesame made it truly unique. Everything was soooo good, I had to come back 3 days later with my partner to get it again. She was just as hooked. Ironically she can't do spicy, but the fried chicken is so good, it did not even bother her. Prices are fair. Since this is a food truck, we took our order to Still Austin to pair it with a flight of whiskey. Beware, the whiskey enhances the spices lol.
