As I was looking through my items the man working was rushing me and was super impatient, one customer came in and I felt so rushed. I kept asking what he would recommend and what's popular and he was so bland, I even wanted to get a drink with boba and he wasn't even helpful with that so I just ordered a regular flavored tea. I was happy to see a poke place near by... but I'm pretty disappointed. The sauces is very bland and it is much more expensive than other poke places because of the portion size. The rice was hot, not warm so that's not good for raw fish... I don't think the rice was cooked all the way as well because it had that powdery chew. After they scooped the rice, they poured some kind of sauce on top without asking me. I'm not even sure what it was. the menu said it cost extra if you choose the same sides but they didn't charge me this time maybe because it is grand opening? A lot other places, they don't charge me if I wanted extra cucumbers or seaweed. When i walked through the door, it felt kinda warm in there, not sure if it was because of the sun hitting the store or what. This is my fifth time coming in and this time I brought the boss lady (wife). Being that she's "halfy" (Asian) I know she would be much more of a critic to Asian food than I am. I am a sucker for great customer service and cleanliness. Shit, if you have those two elements down in the IE it Definitely overshadows the food. But with that being said, the pokey bowls that have been made for me taste great. Always fresh and never smells fishy. It's been a while since I came in so I hadn't seen the fresh tea introduction till today. I love the plastic cups, the wife got the jasmine green tea and raves about it all the way home. Please bear with me, it will be worth it. ** I picked up a "Too Good To Go" order from Poké Town a couple of nights ago, and I would just like to say it was not what I was expecting. For those who don't know, 'Too Good To Go' is an app where you can buy surprise bags from places that throw out their food at the end of the night or, in most cases, have too much food left over. Prices for said bags range from $4.99-$6.99 (depending on where you are and what shops you select) but it is always worth the number of goodies you get and drinks they give you for only $5. **KEEP IN MIND: You do NOT get to choose what you get, hence [Surprise Bag]** With that being said, I have bought [TGTG] surprise bags from various locations and restaurants, but never from a Poke/Sushi restaurant, so when I saw it was available I took advantage and bought two bags. From the get-go, I did think $6.59 was a bit much for a surprise bag, but I thought to myself "No, this will be worth it because I can get boba and maybe even sushi". Boy was I wrong. My husband and I both bought a bag (separate accounts) and headed over to Norco from our apartment in Downtown Riverside because we were very excited to see what we were going to get from this place. As soon as we got there, there were only 2 other people in the shop; One guy was sitting down already having ordered and handed his meal, and a mother with her child was at the register completing their transaction. We stood behind the mother and patiently waited for her to finish because all we needed to do was tell them we were there for a [TGTG] order and they hand us whatever bag they choose. The lady ordering was taking a while so about 3-4 more people showed up within the time she finished paying for her food. At the 8 or 9 min. mark, another lady came out and immediately went to the guy behind us (who was standing by the door and looking at the menu) and disregarded my husband and me. We didn't mind, because again, all we needed to do was tell them why we were there and they hand us our bag(s). When we finally went up to the register we let the kind man know our pick-up code and he had us slide the confirmation button to pick up and began preparing our drinks. He then handed me a Boba Tea With NO Boba, and my husband the same Boba Tea with NO Boba as well. We didn't care, we were just happy to get our stuff finally, But then he proceeded to hand me 1 of the 6-7 small bags of what I'm guessing was different sushi/sashimi/etc. Rolls. Y'all, I got a plate of a SINGLE ORDER OF A FOUR PIECE SASHIMI, and my husband got ONE ORDER OF A FOUR PIECE SUSHI ROLL. Now, their menu is already super pricey, so yes [technically] the price we paid was about 1/3 of the price of said item(s), but with the amount of bags they had "leftover," they could have given My husband, Myself, and the 4 other people who were in line for their surprise bags as well, another 3-4 bags. The app still said "Hurry before they're gone! 5+ surprise bags left to claim", which in retrospect makes sense now. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH PAYING $6 AND CHANGE FOR HOUR-OLD RICE WRAPPED IN SEAWEED!!! Now, for the ACTUAL food review: The sashimi and sushi rice were definitely old and a bit stale, but what should I expect for a 3/5 star spot? My husband is Asian, so I have had my fair share of authentic and unauthentic Asian cuisine. Both he and I can tell when a plate or serving of rice has been left out too long, or when the fish/seafood is no longer fresh. And not to mention the fact that the sushi roll was 92% RICE & 8% EVERYTHING ELSE?!! It had weenie in it, so the rice was soaked in weenie juice lol. As soon as we bit into our food, we could tell the plates had been sitting out for at least an hour if not two. I wish we had taken pictures of the small plate and boba drink. I was hesitant to come here after reading all the reviews but I am happy I did. I had the fish (sushi) burrito and it was very good. The ingredients were fresh even down to the rice. I had ponzu sauce and spicy mayo in it and the sauces were pretty darn good! The amount of the rice didn't overload the toppings. The burrito was the size of a normal burrito. It is pricey though for the portion, and if you aren't careful with choosing your sauces, the whole things could become a saucy mess. The owners are very friendly, and took time to explain the menu and process which can be quite confusing. I've also tried their boba tea, boba is clearly a day (or more) old and not cooked fresh. Very clean restaurant! While taking your order the menu is very easy to navigate through- it's broken down in steps 1-5 to order. This was helpful to me because this was like the 3rd time I've had poki... The food was fresh and tasted bomb. I definitely will be coming back!! When I was paying another customer left and while throwing away their trash threw away a can into regular trash instead of the recycle can.
