Amazing service , amazing food . I come all the way from Escondido just to get the TJ bowl. Best poke around in San Diego. Better than poke etc. and poke one and half . Kevin and Skylar are the best !

Didn't like my experince there last week. The best is the beautiful mural, it is amazing. Kudos to the artist. Food wise, it was not the best poke I have had. In fact it was mostly rice and a bit of fish. Not worth the price. The guys working there seemed to be very friendly...among them. However the kitchen was very loudly having a very gross conversation about pooping and vomiting that should not take place at any cost in a restaurant where people are sitting and eating. It looked more like a fraternity or something than a professional place to work. I have to say I told the guy talking loud about the story of his friend having ginormous vomit to please stop as I could not avoid listening to the whole conversation and was grossing me out. There was no malice in their conversation but the business owner needs to training the staff so they talk about more light topics. I will not go back.

Came in for a quick bite to pick up. Their menu is super simple to understand and place an order. And they also have already put together bowls on their menu too. I got salmon and krab, and while I realize you can pick up to 3 proteins, I only wanted salmon and krab but I didn't really get a lot of salmon.. but nonetheless the bowl was really good. I enjoyed the ponzu sauce, it was light refreshing. Just wish wasabi came with the bowl. Definitely going to return!

I finally enjoyed poke after multiple failed attempts before!! First time trying (elsewhere) had way too much sauce, which felt mushy & gross in texture. My next few attempts were flavorless. So, I refused to eat poke for years & finally gave it another try because my bf loves this place. I kept my order simple with soy sauce & sriracha, my favorite proteins, & just a few toppings. It was quite nice! I didn't realize that the large meant you get 5 proteins instead of 3, so that might be on my wishlist next time. I could've used a bit more sriracha, since it's the only sauce I can go heavy with, but there was a perfect amount of soy sauce. I was pleased. I ate inside, which was a nice setup. They have several tables & games to play while you're there.

Small bowl. I asked the sauce on the side. It was delicious!

We were craving Poke, and I wanted to try somewhere other than Poke 1/2, which is close to our place, and I found this place on Yelp. I came here around 6 pm on Friday night, and it was basically empty but I would imagine they are busier during the week with college kids. They have small and large bowls and I ordered small, and my husband got the large bowl. You can do the add-on cucumber, furikake, etc , but seaweed salad and some other things were extra $. I had albacore, spicy tuna, and yellowtail. They tasted fresh and it was tasty. My husband was pretty happy with his choice too. I think it's better than the poke 1/2 which is just down the street as far as fish quality wise so we will come back again.

I ordered the make your own poke bowl! The fish is fresh, great service, and generous portion size too. There is a good selection of toppings offered to customize your bowl to your liking(: The menu also offers pre-set bowls if you are unsure what to get/are trying poke for the first time.

I love Pokedon! One of my favorite poke spots in San Diego! I love the fresh fish, Hamachi when I can get it, and salmon and Yellowtail are delicious. My go to order: large yellowtail/salmon bowl, crab, extra spicy tuna, seaweed salad, cucumber, furikake, edemame, avocado, sesame seeds, sesame oil, with aloha sauce, gochujjang, ponzu, on rice. Sometimes I get radish it's good. The portions are generous and the flavors amazing. Love the space the mural on the wall is cool, and the service is quick!

Very good for the location. Similar to something you'd get in North Park or possibly even Cardiff. The quality and flavor of the fresh fish is a 9/10. Blue water quality. The tradeoff is that the bowls are fairly small. You also get a ton of rice and lettuce in place of a ton of poke. Overall though great taste at a fairly moderate price. Owner is great, parking is a bit slim.

Reasonably priced and quick service! Pokedon is on a busy street but there was parking in the front during lunch hour. What really impressed us was how fresh the fish tasted!

Dennis is such a great business owner. I walked in for the first time and I felt very welcomed by him. He received my order and gave recommendations for sauces and toppings along the way which is great for a primarily build-your-own-bowl cuisine. Dennis himself and Michael whipped up a mean poke bowl with such amazing flavor. All the ingredients, including the salmon, tuna and krab which I had ordered tasted so fresh and satisfying. The place has a chill vibe to it as well. I saw a few board games and chess which indicates that friends love to come here and spend time together. This appears to be a great neighborhood gem which also caters to the tenants of the BLVD63 apartments. Dennis and Michael know what they're doing, and they're doing it well :).

I've been a big fan of Pokedon ever since they opened in 2017. Their fish quality is always superb and fresh. The bowls have a great amount of fish and I really like how seaweed and cucumber salad come with the signature bowls. Their flavors for their bowls are something you can't get from the cafeteria-line type places, which is why I love coming here whenever I get the chance ~when i'm in the area~ so being able to come here and support local is always a great feeling. The staff is always so friendly and the owner (Dennis) is always so great to customers. My go-to bowl is the Seoul bowl with half salad half white rice, no edamame, add corn and add aloha sauce. so good.

Very good food and service, but if I'm paying $18 for a bowl it shouldn't be half full.

This was my first time trying this place and I came in with high expectations after doing my…read moreresearch. The restaurant itself looked clean, which was a good first impression. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined the experience. I placed my order online four hours in advance because I have a long drive back home to Julian and just wanted to pick it up and go. When I arrived, there was no greeting from staff, no clear pickup line, and no acknowledgment of customers waiting. The staff seemed to have tunnel vision, only focusing on what was directly in front of them while ignoring everyone else. After standing there for quite a while, I finally had to ask about my order. Instead of it being ready like it should have been, they hadn't even started making it. I ended up waiting over 30 minutes in line for something that was ordered hours earlier. What made it worse was when the mistake became obvious, no one apologized or acknowledged the inconvenience. The staff acted like it was no big deal and showed zero professionalism or accountability. I don't come into the city often, but when I do I like to try new places. Sadly, this experience was disappointing and the customer service was extremely poor. I would honestly say save your time and money and go somewhere that actually values their customers--especially in this economy. Time is money, and money is time. If a restaurant doesn't respect your time, they're definitely not going to respect your money. As for the food, it was very basic and lacked flavor. They were also very stingy with the sauce, which made the bowl even more dry and underwhelming. Overall, between the poor service, long wait despite ordering hours ahead, lack of accountability from staff, and mediocre food, this place was a big disappointment. I will not be coming back. There are plenty of better places that actually value their customers. Thank you and have a nice day.

I've given this place so many chances due to their consistently high reviews, but I must be missing…read moresomething or just unlucky. Their fish quality was kind of gross last time, and they tend to over sauce everything else. I could not finish my bowl or even take more than 3 bites of my food. I did order the food about an hour before closing, but if the fish is going to decrease in quality THAT much, it is best to close earlier! I've also been many times in the morning and/or mid day and yet, still equally as unimpressed. At what point do you just admit it's not worth giving extra chances to anymore?

I had been to SD twice before and wanted to check out somewhere I hadn't been. Enter Blue Water - the reviews and pics looks great, and the weather called for seafood, so I decided to head here and check it out. This Blue Water is located on India St in Mission Hills, though they have another location in Ocean Beach. Parking can be a little tricky, as there is no parking lot they are on a main road close to a split in a residential area. The interior is pretty spacious - the fish market is towards the front, and the ordering counter is in the back. Seating is spread out between the main area where the market is, a side room, and outdoors in the front. Decor and aesthetics are casual - very seafood restaurant-esque with straightforward design. The foot traffic set up so you order first and then find a table before they serve your meal to you. The menu is extensive - they have a large selection of fish that can be prepared several ways. It's a little overwhelming to take in, but there was no pressure for us to order; if there's a line all the more time to explore. I ultimately decided to get their mini shrimp tacos - these were served on a corn tortilla and topped with cabbage, tomatoes, onions, white sauce, and cheddar cheese with a side of tomatillo sauce. The tacos were great - super fresh, they didn't skimp on the shrimp, and all the flavors and textures worked really well together. I also ordered a cup of NE clam chowder which was good - not the best one I've had but for being in Southern California it held its own. Service was good - I'm seeing reviews of long lines but I think I came at the right time; there are barely a line to order and my meal was served shortly after that. Overall, Blue Water is a yes - I had a great experience here and wouldn't hesitate to return next time I'm in SD.

The worst part is, it wasn't even polite when they asked us. All the employees were giving us attitude for something they didn't tell us when we arrived, nor when they gave us the high chair. They want all four of us to stand in line instead of sitting at the empty tables. They seriously need training on customer service, at least to show empathy, sincerity and apologize to customers. I guess they don't care because we're Asian and believe they don't need our business here.
