Made an uber eats order on a Wednesday afternoon. Easily was able to pick it up and it was ready when it said it would be. Very easy shelves for pickup and parking was easy. I ordered a large bowl for ~$19. Lots of options to add to the bowl. It was a good size and I was full afterwards. I loved all the ingredients. Tasted fresh and love the crunch options on top. Workers were extremely rude, gave rude looks for no reason and made me feel unwelcome. Girl with black hair and piercings was the one of the worst, she glared at me and my partner from the moment we walked in. The workers were even yelling at each other loudly while customers were in the establishment. I only ordered a drink and it was made wrong the first time so I kindly corrected the worker and they went back to remake it and it came back from again, we had to get somewhere so I just left. The large bowls were very good. The service was amazing who I believe is the manager greeted everyone when they came through the door, told us about half off tea Tuesdays!! Husband loves poke so what kind of trip would it be if we didn't get to try a local poke spot. We had a great experience here. Came at opening time 10:45am and there was already a line! We knew we wanted to get our own poke bowl, bubble tea, dole whip (for sure), and the hawaiian hot plate for the kids. Several tables with seats in a well spaced environment. Poke was good and so fresh. So many free toppings to choose from. Reasonable price compared to our local NYC prices. The small size was just enough for me. The dole whip was the star of the show for us. Creamy (not icy) delicious pineapple flavored soft serve. SO good. Tempted to order another because we all enjoyed it so much. I wouldn't get the strawberry bubble tea. Made with dairy free milk so there is no tea in it but the flavor was just off. Service was great. Ordered the huli huli chicken which is chicken over rice with cold hawaiian-style mac and cheese. Not bad and is a good option for kids. There is some parking space outside the restaurant. Many people do takeout from here because it is convenient and there are little amount of seats to eat in here. A lot of people tend to make their own bowl, but there are signature bowls for people who don't want to make their own. There are many different kinds of sauces, vegetables, and proteins to choose from. I didn't think the quality of the protein choices were great, but it's a nice place to go to for a quick lunch. Until recently, I was oblivious to the Pokémoto national chain of franchises, of which 12 are located in CT, including its mothership café in New Haven. I am heartened by my recent discovery. My review is as a vegan, so if you are not a vegan my review might be irrelevant to you. Unlike other fast-casual omnivore eateries, the servers here speak fluent vegan. And while omitted from online menus, in the café the vegan sauces are clearly labeled V for Vegan. The Chojang and Unami Shoyu sauces are vegan (but sadly, Sesame Ginger is not). The Chojang is too spicy hot and the Unami too garlicky tart for my tender palate. Among its signature bowls differentiated by their proteins is the vegan Tofu Bowl. While the soft tofu is unseasoned and "raw," it at least is organic and is finely sliced into appetizing slivers. Edamame comes paired with the tofu to provide it with more toothsome substance. Next time, I will order the more wholesome Edamame alone. The base of the bowls is white or, very thankfully, brown rice. The brown rice is served straight from the rice cooker, unlike at Chipotle across the street that microwaves (and dries out) its stale brown rice. I do not impugn the reputations of other Chipotles, only of Groton's. Steer clear of the Groton Chipotle. Consult the mostly 1-star reviews and mine here on Yelp, and you will wonder how it remains in business. But back to Pokémoto. Unjustly, the Tofu Bowl costs the same as the other signature bowls that are high-priced meat or fish. If avocado were an ingredient as in the Chicken Bowl, then its same price would be justified. (Pokémoto, are you listening?) Thus you fare better to Build Your Poké, which also provides a base of salad greens instead of rice, and a wider choice of vegan toppings, including sea vegetables. When choosing toppings, perhaps I strained the patience of my server to indulge my request for a lot of just one topping rather a little of several. I suppose if you generously tip your server and if they remember it, they will reciprocate your generosity next time you return, but my theory requires further testing. The clear plastic containers are elegantly shaped, and the lids fits tightly enough for repurposing at home. Seating is provided, but the chairs and tables fit only leprechauns, so consider takeout only. While I won't likely again patronize this particular outlet when am home, I am pleased to have found this chain of eateries to which I can resort as a pit stop while on the road. This is a welcomed eatery worthy of patronage by vegans, vegetarians, and anyone concerned about eating nourishing foods. read more

Aloha. Born and raised local from Hawai'i. And I love my Poke. I usually just go to the fish market so I can get the fish and make my own, but I saw this place and wanted to give this a shot. So they have a few selections of poke that was up on the menu and then they have a selection that you can build your own poke. An interesting twist to put it in a wrap, like a burrito. But that's not exactly Poke, is it? Anyways, I decided to build my own and got a large bowl with rice, Ahi, Salmon and shrimp for the meats. Added teriyaki, Himalayan salt, shredded nori, tobiko (which was an extra buck), and others I can't remember lol. I had it all to go. Now, I forgot to mention that the place was very clean and the workers were very nice. I can't remember the woman who helped me, but she was very nice and funny. Now to the food... The Ahi was not very flavorful. It was plain. Must have been Atlantic tuna. Pacific Tuna is delicious. And the salmon was also lacking. I guess that's why they let you add a lot of toppings to your Poke. Overall, the idea was interesting. But nothing can beat Poke from home. Would I come back again? For the Dole ice cream, yes, When they get the ice cream machine in. For their Poke? No. I'd rather make my own at home. It's just not for me. read more

Came for opening day. Staff was very friendly. Everything was nice and clean. Lines moved fast despite workers being new to the process which was good. I ordered the Hawaiian signature bowl. The tuna quality didn't seem to be bad at all. The spicy mayo seemed a bit spicy but that's just personal pretence. The rice however was way too mushy; too much water was used when they cooked the rice. The grains of rice pretty much fused together from all the extra water. Though by the end of it, I was pretty full. Will pass on the bubble tea since it is from powder but will definitely be returning to try the salmon and the Dole whip. read more

Service was ATROCIOUS. Thanks to the young girl with an arm tattoo, fake eyelashes and an attitude, the rest of the great staff lost their tips. I have never been served with such a bad attitude - the young girl kissed her teeth at me after I politely asked for salmon and she gave me tuna. Prior to our Trip to Connecticut, I had begun my homework and started to look for places to go and foods to try in the local areas. I trust our Elite Yelpers to provide great reviews of their experiences. My Son in law had been stationed in New London and so I was eager to visit my Daughter and her Ohana. They had raved about Pokemoto and we were eager to try it. My Son in law enjoys their Karaage Chicken and my Daughter enjoys their Hawaiian Bowl. We as an Ohana wanted to try both and share amongst the 8 of us. Upon entering the restaurant I noticed that it was very clean and neat. The restaurant Decorations was nicely placed and was not cluttered. We were immediately greeted by a staff member who prompted us to begin our order. There was a situation that occurred, but Jesse (Manager) had dealt with it accordingly and it was resolved. Overall, the food was as we like to call it in Hawai'i... "Ono"!! (Delicious!!) Mahalo Jesse and the Pokemoto Team for the delicious Poke Bowls. The flavors were on point and being able to pick and choose what we had wanted on our bowls made it unique to our own favorite flavors and that was pretty cool. ***Helpful tip, do your homework on how to order prior to visiting. Best explanation would be that it is like Subway where you can select your type of rice, vegetables, sauces and seasonings for your bowl of choice. Just a quick update from my last review - Pokemoto has added Karraage Chicken as a portion option. Karraage Chicken is Japanese fried chicken that can be found in many places in Hawaii (and Japan of course) Sk when Insaw that this was an option I asked if I could get the chicken as an entree itself and they do offer it. You can get any of their sauces as dipping sauces. I recommend the garlic chili oil. TBH it is not bad! If it was crispier it would be 5 stars. Very tasty! read more
