Part 2 of 2 for P in current alphabet series: P is for Pokerea: I first visited on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. I had work travel to Caroline County, VA. On the way back I got a movie on my AMC A-List at AMC Potomac Mills, then walked around the mall & debated what I was going to eat for dinner, there was still traffic getting back to MD and would've been 9 before getting home, and looked at the food court and decided to try the Poke place, Pokerea. Staff was friendly, an assembly line of various ingredients to choose from like other Poke places, and I was amazed at how good this place was. This is the best Poke I've had in the DC area, and it's in a mall food court! Coincidentally, the other time I visited was a Wednesday too. My girlfriend & I were traveling back from Myrtle Beach, SC on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. We got to the mall in time to eat dinner before the movie we wanted to see with a little bit of time to spare to walk around the mall in addition to simply eating. I told her how great Pokerea was. Everything was just as great as I remembered, and she thought it was great too. If I'm back down that direction, I'd definitely be back. read more

Plenty of flavor which surprised me and they didn't skimp on the bulgogi. Pokerea is a poke and ramen eatery, located as part of the food court offerings at Potomac Mills. The hubs and I decided to give them a try after some shopping, and we ordered the Seoul Bowl - this came with a bowl of white rice, topped with bulgogi, Romaine lettuce, red onions, corn, a poached egg, sesame aiioli, sesame seeds, and crispy garlic. We also added both the spicy mayo and the gochujang aioli as the sauces, and added scallions and cucumbers as additional toppings. The bulgogi, surprisingly, had good flavor from its marinade; it was soft and tender, and there was a good serving of it in the bowl. The rice could have been prepared better, as it was more on the wet side. Definitely one of the better options at the food court. Built my own bowl for takeout here and it wasn't the best one I've ever had but also not the worst. Ambiance: N/A - i ordered doordash so I wouldn't know Price: 3/5 - $16 for a bowl with tuna and bulgogi beef but an extra $1 for seaweed salad felt unnecessary Food: 2/5 - the bowl had way too much spicy mayo and their ahi tuna felt like it was old and not fresh at all. I didn't get rice in the bowl opting for lettuce instead but I feel like that was a mistake. Service: N/A - ordered doordash so hard to rate the service since i didn't eat in. So yes I did not know a mall food court spot would be this good! But I tell you I was very surprised when I prefer off of Doordash because I was wanting some ramen. Yeah I know I could have went to the old trusty ramen we all have a pack of two in the pantry. But I wanted something more authentic and rich with flavor. So I ordered the Korean style ramen extra noodles and decided to try this sweet catch bowl. Doordash delivered but must have dropped my bag because the bowl was all smashed together and leaking out the bag. Other than that the food was very tasty. Now it coming from the food court I had to stop by today to fool inside because I wanted that bowl again. The worker who made my bowl was nice, attentive, and fast. I added some green onions to the mix and extra crispy garlic. I love me some garlic kind of wish he could have given me a little bit more. Only complaint I would have is you get a lot of rice but the protein raw salmon and tuna is a very small portion. Probably would have to pay extra for additional portions. But for $12 it's definitely worth it because it's a great way to eat a little bit healthier and get full. Next time I will do the brown rice instead of all white to get a little added fiber. But it's a win win in my opinion! read more

I tried the Seoul Bowl as described; actually, I asked for a few more shakes of garlic. It was tasty! The trend to scoop the meat without "juice/gravy" if you want some more flavor ask for it. You may have to speak up through your mask. The poached eggs are not runny. You may need to request one that has not been lounging in warm water. The yolk was firm. My niece customized her bowl. I didn't get a picture, but she reported the chicken was delicious. My son tried the Golden morning bowl, and the same as my niece, I was unable to secure a picture before the devastation. read more

Sweet catch is: 1 spoon of tune, one spoon of salmon, one spoon of Costco avocado paste, one spoon seaweed and half pound of rice. The Seoul Bowl: two spoons of meet, one spoon of salad and half pound of rice (they forgot half of ingredients). Even if you like rice, their rice is dry and no souse. Such a disappointment. I love Poke, just NOT here. Their salmon was too hot to be raw and had a pale color to it. Not the bright color it's supposed to have. Their red onion wasn't cut all the way and their portion size was way too small. I was so excited for a poke place to open up in the mall but it saddens me that it was pretty disgusting. I know they just opened up but they should've made sure everything was 100% before they did. I won't be coming back. Sorry. Firstly, the name of the establishment is fun; it just rolls off your tongue and the fact that they sell Korean food and ramen on top of the poke bowls is a unique plus. Secondly, the food was fresh and tasty. My wife and I came here on a Monday afternoon for lunch. We both ordered poke bowls with salmon and thoroughly enjoyed it. The customer service was good too. The owners seem to be a Korean married couple and they were very pleasant to the both of us. Lastly, I felt like the pricing was reasonable for the amount of food you get. A price range you would expect from an establishment like this. They have a lot of toppings and sauces you can choose from. Not the most dynamic of choices but enough to satisfy. Overall first impressions I give it 4 stars. I knocked off 1 star because of the limited choices of toppings. I have been to other poke bowl places that offered a great deal more for the same price. I got the chicken ramen. It's pretty tasty for food court cuisine... the ramen was nice and chewy and the chicken broth was rich and flavorful. What a refreshing change to Potomac Mills Mall. There is a new restaurant called Pokerea which is a build a bowl that is trending in America. This restaurant offers your own build, signature bowls and Ramen. Large variety of toppings for all items and the owner and worker is super friendly. If you are craving Asian food with a bit of a Korean influence I recommend ditching the burgers and pizza and giving this place a try. read more

Not gonna lie, I wanted to give this a higher rating because I love poke, but this places was a disappointment. They over-do it with the sauces. The fish had a smell to it that wasn't really fresh. The lettuce mix I had had browns spots cause it was going bad. And it's way too expensive for how little you get. And when I say little, I mean very very little. I had ordered two bowled, one with white rice and one with brown rice. Tell me why the white rice bowl came out with a normal portion of rice and the brown rice bowl had literally half a portion of rice. I loved this place! In Woodbridge, there aren't many Poke places. But this one, appealed to my liking. I got the Salmon with Tuna and the meat was just right. Not too mushy not too fishy.
