TL;DR: The food was so confusing I'm not sure how to write this. Okay. Let's start with the good: our server was wonderful. Perfect. No notes. A total joy. We laughed about the item I wanted to order not being available. They were attentive to the older ladies I was with. No complaints. The server is why this is two stars instead of one. Sadly, the food. Sigh. I know all these fusion places are disappointing, but mom wanted to come here. I asked if I could get the salad I wanted without the beef it comes with, but the answer was no. After reading the way too big menu twice, I ordered what I knew would be an incredibly sad drunken noodle. I'm not sure the restaurant knows what drunken noodle is. Does Fuse Box exist in an alternate pocket dimension where drunken noodle, with no listed fusion on the menu other than a strange "contains peanuts" warning, is drenched in a sweet peanut sauce even though it's listed as spicy with two peppers next to it on the menu? Where the noodles are just weird soggy mush? Where the spiciness rating scale might actually be a sweet sugar scale instead? Yes. Yes it does. Don't eat here. Just don't. I refused to eat my food. Fuse Box is one of our regular restaurants when we want Asian food. They offer a mix of Asian cuisines (Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, etc). There's great food and service here. Here are some of dishes we have tried here: Soups - pro tip: their soup for two is enough for four. We always have leftover. Love their crabmeat asparagus soup and their chicken corn soup. Appetizers: long list of appetizers. We've tried a few of them and recommend their Kung Pao Chicken Tacos, Crab Rangoon. Entrees: again a decent list. We love their Jalapeño Chicken, and Thai Ball Beef. Their Crispy Beef can be ordered as a salad or as an entree with carrot & scallion (hint cheaper as a salad). If you are ever in the Lorton area PLEASE stop by the fusebox. This place is a treasure and I promise you... everything is delicious. The owners are so sweet and are working every time I visit. Their entire staff is attentive and the ambiance is very low key and perfect for an intimate bite to eat or a relaxing solo meal. I just got off work at the European wax center next door and needed a quick bite to eat. Today I just ordered solace partly cloudy ipa, teriyaki chicken bites, and the veggie spring rolls. Always a pleasure. This is a great fusion spot worth visiting. It's in an out-of-the-way place for me but worth the 30 minute drive. There's free parking, friendly staff, a comfortable atmosphere, and a pretty wide selection of food. And best of all is the food is very good. If you do not want Szechuan spicy food, the dishes I have tried are just "meh." I have not tried the fried sugary crispy beef or sweet and sour meat/chicken dishes. The dumplings and cauliflower fried rice are ok, and healthier than much food you can get elsewhere. They have lots of vegetable dishes available. I have not tried Vietnamese or Thai dishes, maybe that is my issue, trying Chinese food vs Vietnamese pork chops,for example? I have been there twice. Holy cow, the food here is amazing and exceeded my expectations!: 1. Shoshito pepper appetizer: Really tasty, slightly spicy depending on the pepper, delicious marinade, and fun to eat! I like that this came with an extra bowl to dispose of the pepper stems 2. Shredded crispy beef: Phenomenal from the first bite! There is something different/unique about the batter they use and it's surprisingly light. So much more elevated than the usual Chinese take-out versions of this dish 3. Panang curry: I got this with fried tofu and it was amaaaazing and everything I'd hoped for 4. Thai iced tea: Defibitely served on the sweeter, more sugary side! Fuse Box is an amazing find in an unassuming spot in a local shopping center off Route 123 in Lorton. The service is very personable and prompt - truly outstanding. The delicious food was served in generous portions, whether we ordered the small plates or the entrees. The sweet and sour cauliflower was a star - the batter was light and crispy, allowing the perfectly cooked cauliflower to shine through, and the sweet and sour sauce was perfectly balanced and not overpowering. The kung pao tacos were amazing - a perfect blend of the flavors of kung pao chicken with the form and flavors of a great taco. Was wanting Asian food and was going to be in the area to check out the Workhouse Arts center just a mile down the road so went to this place based on the Yelp reviews. First off great service. Our waitress for lunch was nice and attentive. Now the food was good, came out hot and was tasty but it wasn't overly amazing or different from other Asian restaurants. The crab Rangoons were very yummy and had a good amount of filling as others mentioned. Dumplings were your standard average Chinese dumplings as well as the lo mein. I did add veggies to mine. General Tao's chicken was also your standard sauce and had good flavor. I had originally ordered the drunken noodles based on a comment from another diner saying that it was better drunken noodles then he had had at another Thai restaurant that makes amazing drunken noodles. Ordered them based on his recommendation and they were not at all like your traditional drunken noodles. The flavor was not bad but if you are expecting your traditional drunken noodles, this is not it. I told the waitress when she came to ask about my food and she got me the lo mein. I have never in my life sent back a meal, but it really was not what I wanted or expected. She also took them off our tab which was nice. The Kimchi Fried Rice was an absolute standout--generous with shrimp and bursting with great flavor. The Green Fried Green Tomato Tempura had a nice taste as well, though thinner slices and a lighter breading would have really elevated the dish. My brother and I arrive and the restaurant sits in a mini shopping center off Rt. 123, just pass Occoquan and Art Center. There are a few of other eateries as well. As you walk in the interior is very sleek, full bar, wine collection hung on left side, limited of seating but manageable. There are seven tables that are space out and 18 bar stools around the bar. The menu has a wide range of items to choose from countries such as Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thailand that we noticed. We ordered: 1) Roasted shishito peppers very delicious 2) Pan fried flaky pancakes were on point. It was served with a ponzu sauce and we couldn't get enough of it. We both combine the shishito peppers with flaky pancakes and made it better. Each item were great on its own but by combining..Wow! 3) Mapo tofu which has edamame, corn kernels, onions, some chili flakes, garnished with chopped scallions. This dish really surprised us due to the unique ingredients. We didn't choose to add any meat and eaten as is. If we were to add a meat then we would have chosen ground beef but that wasn't part of the choices. 4) Singapore rice noodles with curry was okay. The noodles was equivalent to angel hair pasta that was prepared with eggs, bell peppers, onions and bean sprouts. 5) Thai basil beef was very delicious. We combine the Singapore noodles with the Thai basil beef and it was better because the noodles was a bit dry. We were looking forward to the desserts since everything else was great already but unfortunately that was our only disappointment. 1) fried banana drizzle with honey. The fried banana would have taste better on its own and provide a separate ramen of honey to be dipped by the patrons. But with honey drizzle on top made everything soggy 2) Mango sticky rice was different compared to other restaurants that serves this dessert. When our server brought it to the table, it was runny. That's what mostly caught our eye. We both were hesitant and taking our first bite, the coconut sauce was overpoweringly sweet. The mangoes, we wasn't able to taste the natural flavor of the fruit and the rice was covered too much with coconut flakes. With every bite we took, we had to wash it down with cold water to defuse the sweetness 3) Steamed peach shaped buns with red bean paste also known as birthday buns. The outer layer was dry and the filling tasted old. The steamed buns were not fresh and possibly came frozen. All of the dishes we order from appetizers to entrees were exceptionally amazing because everything came out fresh and hot. Our server Milan was friendly and tried to be attentive but appears to have multiple titles from server to take-out order. So we stopped by this place after taking the Amtrak Auto Train to Lorton VA, looking for a quick bite. We ordered the steamed dumplings as an appetizer, which were a little but thick and chewy. Then, for the entree, my wife ordered the shrimp pad thai, and I ordered the general tso' chicken. It came with white rice, and I asked if I could substitute fried. The server said yes. When they brought my wife's food out, it was chicken and not shrimp, so they had to do the order over which delayed things because I already had my food. So we shared my general tso's, which was quite good as well as the fried rice. The server brought out her pad thai like 10 minutes later. I tried her pad thai, and it was good and full of flavor. When I got the check, I noticed a $5 charge for fried rice, which I was never told there would be an uncharge. I told asked why this happened, and he didn't say anything. He neither offered to correct the condition or take it off the bill. I didn't ask to speak to the manager because we were on a schedule. The faulty service left a bad taste in my mouth. We've ordered food for takeout from here a few times. The first time was around when they first opened, not the best. However we decided to try it again and I'm so glad we did! The food was delicious, I am a fan of the Crispy Beef. It was great and maintained a crunch even with the sauce (which was so good). I also enjoyed the Vegetable Lo Mein, it was a good portion and very flavorful. I hope to dine in one day as well and expand on this review. Very nice place! We ordered the general tso's chicken, little too saucy for our liking but still very good! The peking duck rolls were my absolute favorite! I ended up ordering one to go after our meal. My boyfriend especially loved the crab and asparagus soup. Not salty + very light flavoring, had the same consistency as egg drop soup. The pork soup dumplings were good, but not an absolute favorite. Maybe it's because my expectations were very high being from NYC/China town area, but were still nice to try. Found this place on Yelp and very happy we did! We went for dinner on a Tuesday evening and had a great time! Service was excellent! We were immediately greeted at the door with a smile. The food was incredible. For appetizer we ordered the roasted shishito peppers and steamed buns. Peppers were spicy and full of flavor! The buns were fluffy and filling. I found this hidden gem one day driving down 123. There are a few complaining about the pricing, but you've got to understand that this is by far the best tasting Chinese food in the area, period! It's even better when you eat there and get it right off the stove, simply amazing. We are from San Diego and checking out the area for a possible relocation. First off, I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of food options available here in this area. We had the stuffed portobello mushrooms with shrimp. It had a tempura dipping sauce and was deep fried (we weren't expecting it to be deep fried) but it was really good! We also had the ribs which was very meaty (not a lot of fat!) and was really good! It was more on the sweet side. We also ordered the salt and pepper chicken wings (it wasn't the same as Royal Mandarin's which set the bar pretty high for us and we will miss it- it's in National City in San Diego if you are ever there) but it was good. We also had the garlic shishito peppers which was also on the sweeter side but good. The service was great- kept our waters full and the waiter is an older man who has a happy demeanor. I love the indoor/outdoor entrance the window gives off and it has a nice welcoming bar. For being in a suburban neighborhood, it did give off some urban vibes. Really great fried rice, I ask to add broccoli and remove the spicy peppers which makes it great for kids. Add shrimp. There are so many options at this restaurant. Barry gets the Thai chicken which has a really good flavor. The veggie Thai rolls are good too. For the Thai chicken ask that they leave off the peanut sauce because it can be heavy- just request it on the side. Great portions and flavors. They are closed on Mondays. So on Monday go to the pizza place in the same shopping area for the pizza special that they have on Monday- that's what I did, after I figured that out. read more
