They serve various apps (such as fried and steamed dumplings, shrimp tempura, etc.), charcoal BBQ, teriyaki, and rice & soup dishes. We came here for an early dinner, and we tried: +the Dduk Mandoo Guk - pork dumplings and rice cake in a beef broth; the staff let us know that they had run out of the beef shank, so there wouldn't be meat in there; the broth was thick and flavorful, but I just wished the soup came out piping hot +the Dol Sot Bibimbop - hot stone bowl with rice, bulgogi, veggies, and rice with the bibimbop sauce on the side; this was just okay; the rice was a little mushy, but the stone bowl was super hot that it made the rice crispy +and, the Galbi Gui - marinated beef short rib, that's cooked in the kitchen; this was our favorite, as the meat was tender and had a good charcoal taste to it The banchans were all fresh and very well-prepared. This has always been my go to place for Korean food for over 12 years while I lived in Woodbridge and even when I return to visit. They always know what I will order because I have frequented them for so long. I always order the beef bulgog bento box with all the sides (except the bean sprouts), extra dumplings and the dressing for the salad on the side. Last month I returned to visit and was very very disappointed. The service is always friendly and accommodating, but my first unexpected disappointment was with the smaller portion size amount, different taste and the tenderness and stringy texture of the beef used in the bulgogi. My second real disappointment is finding out that there is an automatic additional 20% surcharge added to the check and you don't know it until you get the bill. I guess this is done because some people don't tip or tip low. I always tip $10 everytime, but that won't be happening anymore. As much as I have enjoyed their food over the years, I don't see myself returning that often if at all. I've been coming here since I was a kid & the food is consistently good every time. The place hasn't changed much lol! But it doesn't need to. IMO this really is the best Korean food in the Woodbridge area. It has a peaceful ambiance, it's clean, and the service is attentive, but not overbearingly so. If you're worried about price, consider coming at lunch time. They bring out banchan for every table, which I appreciate because I've been to a few korean restaurants that don't offer this. If you are brand spanking new, I'd recommended the bulgolgi or a bento box. I've seen some reviews mentioning how they won't let you in close to closing time but c'mon guys, that's just basic common courtesy and good for them being firm on their boundaries. Here's an update: Have been coming here for years, even during the pandemic. Was here to support the grandmother that was running this place and was inspired by her religion. It appears to have been taken over by her kids or other family which started to increase the cost of the foods which we accepted for many years more than doubling the prices from when we started. The food is still great, would love to still support the restaurant, but the sneaky extra charge on my togo order of an additional 10 to 20% of my bill is theft. I paid since we had ordered and was already there and did not want to go hungry. So as a man of principle I have stopped coming. If you want to charge more that's a business decision, price gauging and adding additional fees appears to be illegal. read more

Apparently the new policy is in place as a way to keep employees from quitting since they either weren't getting tipped enough or not at all - Which I don't see why patrons should be the ones to "pay" to keep workers at the restaurant when tipping in itself is NOT to be MANDATORY. I've been here probably some ten plus times now, and am overdue to sing my praises for this spot. I drive from Madison to Woodbridge for day trips every now and then, and this is usually the go-to place to eat for us. It's small, usually very quiet, and the wait staff is always very attentive and kind. The menu is a nice size, not too big or small. The side dishes the food comes with is always delicious, I especially love the kimchi cucumbers. The japchae is generous and well seasoned, but in my experience my favorite items are the stews. The soondubu jigae is my favorite, it's always so flavorful and full of seafood. I've asked for the addition of zucchini to mine before, and they happily obliged. A HIDDEN GEM IN THE MIDDLE OF WOODBRIDGE Korean Grill has been in business for about 20 years. I didn't know about them until recently. Wow, a SOLID 5-Stars. Like always I will review this gem in terms of the Quality of Service and the Food. Service: This is a Mom and Pop restaurant, my favorite type, operated by the owner. Everybody in the restaurant are extremely friendly and very attentive to your needs. Can't say enough about how awesome they are. Ambiance: This is a traditional Korean restaurant. It is very Family oriented. Quiet, and you can feel an air of respect and traditions. The place is very clean and the "silverware" consist of traditional Korean Chopsticks and Spoon. For those of you who can't use chopsticks, they provide a fork. Hot tea is served in traditional Korean jade ceramic teapot and cups. Food: It is EXCELLENT Korean food. I have been in the Korean Grill multiple times since I discovered it. The first time I visited the restaurant, it was lunch time and I ordered a Beef Bulgogi bento box. For those unfamiliar with Korean food, Bulgogi is Korean dish made of thinly-sliced meat typically marinated in soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger and pear. Some of my Korean friends would make Bulgogi with Pork, or Chicken. It was very good. When I had the first bite, I was immediately transported back to my days when I visited Seoul for work. The Bento Box came with three sides. One fried mandu guk (Korean Dumpling) that was incredible. I could have eaten a dozen. It also had a side serving of Japchae noodles. Japchae is a Korean noodle made from sweet potato starch and it can be served either cold or hot. In the Korean Grill Bento box the Japchae is served cold. Like I mentioned earlier I have visited the Korean Grill almost on a weekly basis and my goal is to try their entire menu. On my second visit, I went for dinner and ordered the Jaeyook Gui (means grilled marinated pork in Korean) for dinner. If you like spicy hot food, this is a good dish to try. I don't recommend asking them to be mild, because you will lose the flavor. It is served steaming hot, on a hot plate, with a side of steamed rice. You can also ask for a side for lettuce and make wraps by putting the Jaeyook Gui in the lettuce, wrap it and eat it. This is a common way of eating meat in Korea. If you want to try food from other cultures this is a great place to visit. OTHER REVIEWERS: I have a problem with people who through ignorance, or because they have an inferiority complex will give a business 1-star, because of small things. I believe the people who gave this restaurant a 1-Star are BULLIES. I hate Bullies so I am going to answer their concerns/complains in an update to this post. Bottom line: This place is worth checking out, especially if you're in the Woodbridge/Dale City area. I've been here a few times for takeout, so I'd say it qualifies as my 'go-to' for Korean food in the area. The portions are big, the service is always nice, and there is plenty of parking. Although there are other Korean BBQ places in the area, some don't offer take-out because they're all you can eat, or the quality and/or service just isn't there. Wang (butterfly w/rib bone) or LA (sliced). Koreans adore Wang Galbi because of its heartier & tender meat but LA Galbi is more affordable & easier to grill. I'm so behind on my reviews as I've visited KG on numerous occasions for months!... KG's version of Wang Galbi is very muted in flavor. Interesting since I was told they marinate their meats. Their Kimchi Jjigae is tolerable but muted as well. No robust anchovy or garlic flavors here... Tea is $3 per pot with unlimited HOT WATER REFILLS. Their Spicy BBQ Chicken is grilled nicely & flavorful. Probably the only item I would recommend currently. Banchan is on the blander side & you can't choose which items you want. I'm spoiled. I don't enjoy KG's Americanized banchan selection. They have lunch plates which are slightly cheaper but nothing I would highly recommend. Average fare. Parking is available in a shared lot. As a Korean who has travelled & enjoyed my way through almost all provinces of SOUTH Korea... KG is OK but definitely not what I crave. I wish KG well. read more

From the moment I pulled up this place did not seem like much, but when I walked in, it told a completely different story. For starters, it was very clean and staff were very friendly. I had the beef short ribs meal and I cannot explain just how good it was. They brought out a set of lettuce, bean sprouts, miso soup, kimchi, and a few other vegetables as an appetizer. The main course came out on this plate that was still sizzling with the most tender meat you could imagine. Everything I had was priced just under $30. Considering everything I had. Korean Grill is a bit of a "hole in the wall" in an unassuming shopping center. The food is tasty and on par with peer small, family-run establishments. Overall, it is no-frills and has on-point Korean favorites. Visited for lunch in December 2020; there were a few others guests dining in, which was a good sign. We split the tempura shrimp appetizer, which were a bit over-breaded and just OK. I had the Galbi (spare ribs) lunch special, and it did not disappoint. The server brought plenty of gochujang (Korean chili paste and my favorite hot sauce). Note: Due to COVID-19 spacing and/or lack of demand, the same server is the only person helping the front of the house, including handling takeout orders/payments, phone calls, running to and fro assisting dine-in guests, etc. While dining in, this led to a some understandable service delays. Not ever having eaten here I was taking a huge chance off of reviews and looks/impression. 1- the outside look of the establishment looked bootleg and non inviting.
