Very disappointed. This place used to be one of my favorite, but seems like they have very high staff turnover rate. I've been to this place for at least 20 times in the past 6 months, but seen new staffs almost every other time. This time was unbelievable- staffs were rude and not well trained. Used hands to scoop the rice...threw tools loudly and no standard portion size AT ALL. When I got less than half scoop of salmon, seriously no kidding there were only 4 small pieces of salmon, I asked if they could put a little bit more? I was told "So you wanna a large one?" Seriously?? There should be at least 10 pieces With one scoop of salmon or tuna. Can't imagine how they trained their new staffs...disappointed. read more

Love this place, never disappoints with fresh quality ingredients which is important for this type of food in my book. Look, the Poke is very good and I love poke! But here's the thing: the staff was really really rude. I really love poke and would come here all the time if they hadn't been so harsh. Every time I added something to my bowl, I felt like the staff person was shooting daggers at me with her eyes. And when I asked for a cup of tap water after paying $18 for a bowl, she said no! This place is amazing for a FAST fresh healthy meal! So many combination possibilities and the staff are happy to explain anything to you, and make recommendations! I ordered for myself and my husband who is vegan and the lady (I wish I knew her name! Pretty big portions for the price and will leave you feeling full! There is parking directly in front of the shop! A rarity on Thayer and I've never seen a line that didn't clear out in under 10 mins they move FAST! If you like sushi this place is FOR YOU! I also don't know if this is a constant thing but we were able to grab a fresh young coconut one of the last time we were there, I can tell you walking down Thayer st on a spring night sipping fresh REAL coconut water is perfection! Just a tad expensive for what you're getting, practically 15$ a bowl. I feel bad for the college student who tries to eat here! I love Pokéworks. I've been to a few locations in New York and was really excited for this one to open up here. A friend brought me a bowl while I was recovering from surgery and asked for sauce on the side. It was delicious (though I'm pretty sure they use frozen fish), but they forgot to give me the sauce on the side. Bummer, but not a big deal. I went here on my lunch break today. There were about 7 or 8 people in line ahead of me, and it's set up like Chipotle where each worker has a station (base, protein, toppings, etc). The workers seemed to be moving really slow for lunch time. It was really noisy in there and a lot of it was due to the small amount of space and the music being a little loud - which is totally fine while dining, but it makes it really hard to order when the customer and the server can't hear each other. The person in front of me got the last of the mango that was out, and when it was my turn to tell them which toppings I had wanted, and the girl working told me they "didn't have anymore mango." I found that pretty hard to believe and was immediately frustrated. When my bowl was passed along to the next worker, I made it pretty clear how frustrated I was, and just like that, she whipped out a new container of mango that was prepped and in the fridge. It was awesome of her to do that, but... why didn't the first girl bother to turn around to look? I worked in food service for years. It's inconsiderate and unacceptable to not even bother to look. I was finally cashing out and the cashier was also moving at a glacial pace. She offered me a bag and I told her I'd bag my food myself (because it was taking so long) and she put the bag back behind her. Maybe she misheard me, but man. The entire experience was just frustrating. Put it this way: I had 25 minutes to spare prior to walking into Pokéworks, and had to get back to work in less than 10 minutes time and eat on the clock. I get that a little more than 15 minutes isn't a lot of time, but in a fast-casual chain like this, it absolutely is. I understand they just opened, so I do intend to return - but probably not for a long time, and especially not on a lunch break. It seems like they have a lot to figure out. read more

I ordered the Hawaiian poke and it was tasty. However 30 mins later, I feel so nauseous and lightheaded. My stomach is churning and I already threw up. If I could give 0 stars I would. Decided to come to this place after walking by. The atmosphere of the places very warm and it has a line to order your food. It kind of reminds me of a chipotle or a cilantro restaurant as far as the ordering process goes. I got a burrito sushi with spicy salmon and regular salmon. My burrito was wrapped in rice and it had mangoes, cucumber, and spicy mayo sauce. Overall I loved my burrito. It had great flavor and I liked the fact that you could customize it. I like poke works and I usually like my Poke Bowl. I go at least a few times month. However tonight's experience and bowl were not so good. First the tuna was cut into big chunks and there were stringy sections in each bite. I don't know what happened but the quality does not seem up to par. I asked for salad in my bowl and the serving size was kinda skimpy. I had to ask for more. I asked for more vegetables and was give more, so yay for that. I have asked for more roe and was given more with out being charged extra, today I was told I had to pay 1.00 extra. d Don't know if extra portions will always cost more, but that seems to be a change. So I was in Providence yesterday and passed by this place. Being a huge sushi fan and have been wanting to try poke, I had to give this place a try. There was a line out the door but I waited in it. I really hated how I had to drive around the block for 20 minutes looking for a place to park. After the long wait in line I started to order my sushi bowl. The ordering process is just like Subway. In my bowl I got sushi rice, ahi tuna, sweet onions, green onions, crispy onions, nori and poke classic sauce. I also got a spring tea with honey. The tea wasn't that good, it actually didn't have much flavor to it. The poke bowl however was pretty good. I played it save and got regular stuff in it which was good but next time I'll add different things to it. I didn't know what most of the stuff you could add in was. I wish they would have some regular ingredients to add into your bowl. I think stuff like carrots, lemon, caramelized onions and grilled mushrooms would be good add ins. The people taking your order were pretty helpful. This place is way too small though, there are only about 4 tables. I would probably go again to try a different combination or a poke burrito. read more
