I have worked in poke myself and I understand that service work is not the easiest thing. Costumers can be rude and forward and it's not easy. I always try my best to be kind and tip as well as I can. I have come into this place about five times and the food is excellent. They have some really great sauces, I recommend wasabi mayo for sure! My biggest issue was with some customer service I have dealt with a couple times. Most of the workers are super nice and helpful and make the environment extremely welcoming, however I have had a couple days of frustration walking out of the restaurant due to customer service from one worker. The first day I did make a mistake- I forgot that I had added extra sauces to my bowl and thought I was being charged for sampling the sauces. My mistake 100%, however my issue was the way I was spoken to when I had made the comment. The worker's tone was very rude and I brushed it off as it was my mistake, but I came in the next day and I was rung up by the same worker. I had gotten three proteins and was charged for four. I politely corrected her and was told sharply, " I heard four". The worker turned to her coworker to confirm how many proteins I got which was specified to be 3 as I had said. Miscommunication is completely normal, but again it wasn't what was said but how it was said. I felt disrespected and dumb and very unwelcome. To follow up with this, there was no apology or even acknowledgement of the mistake, but just a redirection to the payment screen. Again, I completely understand how customer's can come off as rude sometimes and I do feel bad if I came off as trying to not pay for something that I ordered by mistake that first day. Even when I thought I was being charged for samples, I didn't complain and assumed maybe it was just company policy. I just wish I wasn't spoken to in the way I was, and it even makes me anxious to come back in fear of this happening again. read more

Came here for a quick bite with a friend and they didn't disappoint. They were very welcoming, friendly, and fast. The restaurant was very clean (maybe because it's brand new but I can tell they clean it) and the fish was very yummy. I'm very happy to know that there's a Poki One N Half just around the corner from my house now. I will definitely be back... maybe even later today for seconds! I've been to this place a handful of times, the quality is good, fish is fresh, all the toppings are good, the problem is inconsistency of the employees and of the portion given, every time its different, depends on who makes your bowl, I ordered a large bowl with absolutely everything on it and it was smaller with less fish than the lady next to me who ordered a reg bowl with only selected toppings, and mine cost more . unfortunately when i walk in , I stay or leave depending on who makes my bowl. read more

I could eat here every day! Staff is super friendly, very accomodating. Ingredients are always fresh and there are so many options to customize your bowl! The place smells fresh and clean, not like some other poki places that smell very stronlgy. They don't charge you extra for avocado or masago and that is a huge PLUS because I love both! Ordered a large bowl through door dash. 5 scoops of fish came out to be 7 pieces of fish. As a frequent customer of Poki One N Half this fish is about 1/4 to 1/5 of what I normally would receive. I placed the same exact order about a month ago and the portions were correct. Contacted the store and the manager's excuse was that it has been busy all day with the line out the door. I would return to this location but I would not advise using a delivery or online ordering service without seeing their staff assemble your bowl in front of you. read more

I guess all good things must come to a end. Went in today to find another price increase ontop of charging extra for items that have always been free. 15 bucks for a medium bowl!! This location is typically good. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. However, they need to be more consistent with their portions. I'm not sure if this is a training or management issue. I always get the same thing. A large bowl with 5 scoops of tuna. This was today's "large" bowl. I don't get many mix ins or toppings, but those are 5 very tiny scoops. This is one of my favorite Poki spots. Everyone is super friendly and the store is really clean. Their prices are somewhat cheaper than other local spots, and their portions and quality are above average. I was kind of bummed when I first started going and found that they didn't offer cucumber as a base. However, I find that they are very accommodating when I ask now. Their avocado is always fresh and in chunks, as opposed to smashed, which I prefer. Also, their green tea ice cream sandwiches are delicious. Anyways, I happy they have stayed open during these weird times, and that they have made efforts to make everyone feel safe and welcomed. Forever I've tried to just hate this place because raw fish grosses me out! However, I took the plunge and ordered a bowl with the COOKED shrimp; nothing raw. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty the food was. I'm now a fan and would return on a weekly basis but only for the cooked shrimp as my protein. I think the price is high because their baby scoopers for the protein makes me laugh. and I think they should offer a military/veteran discount. I'm reading through these 5 star reviews and I don't see how this place received 5 stars. $14 for a small bowl? I get it, it's a small business but at least make up for it with portions. Third they charge $1 for cucumbers. Really? Their fish portions were on the skimpy side. One plus was they had fresh albacore. Haven't seen sashimi grade albacore in poki spots really any where. When I first went to Poki One N Half, I loved it. It was the location in Kearny Mesa and it was always packed. I ordered the large, the lid would actually touch the top of the heaping bowl. It's been two years and I have been to all the locations in San Diego. The fish always looked fresh. How much you get in your bowl really depends on which server is helping you out, but overall, I have noticed that the amount served is less and less. They have also stopped serving Yellowtail, a favorite of mine. If you go to the Eastlake location; DO NOT let Sierra serve your bowl. She doesn't know that a scoop is supposed to be full, and not just grazed over the fish. My bowl has never looked so empty.. :( I'll keep searching for better, well-served Poke, as I won't return to Poke One N Half; unless I hear that thing changes their ways. read more

I want to give this place more stars, but some things really thew my friends and I off at our initial visit. 1) We all requested 3 scoops of protein, however, the server accidently put in 5 scoops. She proceeded, and then topped off the addons and apologized saying "Oh Im sorry, I have to charge you for 5 scoops." In our heads we were like, "we didnt ask for that...." 2) UNLIKE the Clairemont location, your servers are extremely stingy on protein portions. When she scooped the salmon, I literally counted 3 little cubes of salmon, and that was counted as a "Scoop." Cmon management, this isn't Chipotle. Train your staff to be more fair. read more

Ordered a Poki burrito and it was a disappointment. Staff is nice and friendly. Store is clean and has a welcoming feel. I appreciate the simplicity of the menu. Although you customize your own flavor profiles by choosing your base, protein, sauces, and spice, it's the quality of the ingredients and execution that feel short. Presentation of the burrito was great. Was surprised that they cut it in half for you. I got it to go and they put it in a cool box. The make sure to keep the burrito wrapped in the paper when eating it because the ends aren't closed and the ingredients fall out. There was flaws in the execution of having it wrapped as it kept on falling apart. Ive had Poki burritos in the past and this was the messiest one and not in a good way. The quality of the ingredients were ok, not great. Mine had avocado which was creamy and imitation crab. The protein was octopus, tuna , salmon. That's where it lost me. The fish didn't taste fresh and delicious. I had the spicy sauce and couldn't taste any sauce. There are other options and higher quality places to eat. It's not bad, it's just not great. Food. PokeBay bowls tastes better overall despite the goods/bads identified below. + Poke 1/2 place has lobsters, more fish choices, more condiments choices and are not extra, the drink bar works. - less servings. Very small servings and had to ask for extra. 2). Customer service. Both are the same. More workers at Poke 1/2. 3). Atmosphere. About the same. Poke 1/2 is newer. 4). Others. Both have plenty of parking. - not Military friendly establishment. After weighing everything, the bowls tastes better at PokeBay. Your price at Poke 1/2 is more predictable but the food overall tastes better at PokeBay. I will stick to PokeBay instead. Up to you, your call. Will not go here though. read more

PRICES SKYROCKETED. Just want to let y'all know so you don't waste your gas getting there, like I did. Their prices skyrocketed. The small is now $15.95 the medium is $16.95 and the large is $17.95. I walked out, crazy crazy crazy prices for the SAME PORTIONS. Each employee serves different, so your proportion of fish and stuff will either be good or bad. And I'm not about to risk paying 17.95 for stingy servings. One time I had to ask the employee to please serve a little more, because he gave me HALF scoops of all the fish, and I even paid extra, and he gave me one cube of Salmon. Really!???!
