This place used to be amazing. Food and service. The foods still good, but the service there was beyond horrendous. We've been coming here since they first opened, picked up at least 5-7 times a month until covid happened then we just ordered 7-10 times a month. I understand its bust and with covid things arent the same, but EVERY TIME we got ur delivered it was NEVER made right or missing things and they wont even make it right when you called them for it and I would have to go and pick up whats missing anyway. So today I oht the order in online and when I went in it wasnt made yet. Thats ok, whats not ok is when I decided to go through the line and asked the employee Maria for extra this and to do it that way she literally gave me the nastiest attitude. She started off by saying, "You wannna let me read this or you wanna tell me what to do?" Lol what a joke. So I said I just want to make sure it gets done right so I dont have to come back and Im just trying to help you out and she continues saying let me do it and read it. She continues to make it and doesnt do it right so I tell her and she blows up on me again. So I ask her for the manager and she say he aint here. What are you managers doing? How are you guys not there to watch how they work? And to make my point, i let her make it. I come home to find... my order still f*cked up. Five stars for the workers working on 12/21--small, playful but professional interaction as they prepared our food, which was much needed since we don't get much social interactions anymore. Anyway, fish always tastes good when we come here. Love how they don't charge extra for the imitation crab unlike other poke spots. They mix the sauces with the white onion so we definitely love that extra flava. $30 for two regular bowls which seems like a lot but it's FISH and fish is generally expensive, worth it for me tho! read more

This place gets 1 star for very poor customer service. As my friend and I were ready to pay for our food, a fly landed on my friend's poke bowl. The cashier was aware that a fly landed on the poke bowl. Instead of offering to remove the part where the fly landed and replacing it with new ingredients, the cashier said, " Flies come in and out all the time." Let me also add that their serving size of the poke is ridiculously small. Went back to PokeBay and they give way more poke than this place and have better customer service. read more

This was my first time visiting Poki One N Half and I was absolutely delighted. Customer service was very friendly, patient, and ready to help if I had questions. The combination of seafood, toppings, and sauces in my bowl was delicious. Everything was super fresh and the selection of seafood and toppings were great (no upcharge for toppings btw). I was honestly super excited to eat here since I like the spot in Convoy and it's one of my favorite spots for Poki. Tried the Eastlake spot and probably the last time I'm going there. Customer service was trash and they seemed super annoyed that people were coming in. Got 4 bowls and 3/4 of the bowls were made wrong. So disappointed with my past two experience at this location. I didn't write a review the first time because things are tough right now and we're all adapting to this new situation...I get it. We're all human. But that is no excuse for the employees to be yelling at customers who don't understand what the protocols are. THE PROTOCOLS ARE NOT CLEAR WHATSOVER. On both occasions the same girl (her name starts with the letter C and wears glasses) has been extremely rude, condescending and elevates her voice when she tells customers to step outside and wait for more people to leave the restaurant. There are circles on the floor inside the restaurant where people have to stand. There are more circles on the ground than the number of people allowed inside at a time. When I pointed this out she said "IGNORE THE CIRCLES!!". This is extremely confusing especially when it's someone's first time there. You should have circles on the ground OUTSIDE so people know they have to wait there. Also...there should be a big sign at the door that says only 8 customers are allowed inside at a time. This is written in the tiniest font on earth on a poster by the window. So here's my issue: the protocols are extremely unclear, and on top of that, the employee is clearly mad because she has to tell people to step outside ALL DAY LONG. I get it, she's mad because people are making the same mistake all day. Heck i'd be mad too. But that is no excuse for the poor customer service. And then when it was my turn to get my bowls prepared she was clearly mad at me and threw everything in my bowl carelessly to make it clear that she wasn't happy. I left feeling extremely mad and it definitely put a damper on my day. This is not how your customers should feel. I tipped despite all of this because I am empathetic about this whole situation and how it's affecting business. Really hope you guys get more organized and start treating your customers with decency. (Oh and the restaurant is takeout only but when I was there, an employee and her friend were eating inside while there were 8+ people inside. They get special treatment I guess.) read more

I've been a loyal customer to this place for years and today I was so disappointed with the service. The employees had no customer service skills. They ran out of tuna but then came out with a bucket full of some 5 min later so we kindly requested to change our scoops to tuna ones instead of the salmon since we originally wanted tuna. I thought it was a reasonable request since they hadn't started on the bowl yet but then they say you can add some tuna for an extra cost. I AM SO GLAD THAT IT'S JUST NOT ME! I was taking it personally because my experience at this location today really bothered me. I walked in today and was the only person there. They didn't seem to be pleased to see me. As I stood there waiting to be acknowledged. Finally a shorter dark haired young lady with glasses stops what she's doing to acknowledge me. Totally annoyed that I interrupted her it seems. I have my family member on FaceTime telling me what to order. She asks me if I will need another bowl and i say I'm not sure maybe. She says well you have to tell me now. I said I can't I don't know why I can't tell you when we are done with this order. I wasn't really sure I wanted Poki...I'm indecisive and was trying to decide between that and Panda Express. She said no you have to tell me now. I said no I don't. Thinking she had to be joking. Because who tells you that you have to make up your mind now when people change or add to their orders all the time. It was just her tone that was just so unnerving. She then tells me that she's not going to wait on me because she has other customers. NO LIE. THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE IN THE STORE BUT ME at the time. She also she said that she had m a lot of customers. Which wasn't true. THIS GIRL WAS SOOO RUDE. I went ahead and started the Faetime order and then decided that I don't have to be treated this way. So I asked to speak to the manager. She said I am the manager. I asked another young lady and she was nice and told me it was Nick Guerro. I asked for his number. They wouldn't give it to me. I wanted to take a picture or video to prove no one was in the store and of the rude girl. What did I do that for!!!! She all of a sudden had loads of time to follow me outside with phone in hand to take down my license plate. I was mad then. I gave her my name but she didn't care. Just proceeded to calling who ever to report me taking a picture. I left and called another store and they gave me Nicks number and based on one of the other reviews I read he did the same thing to me. Made excuses for her behavior. They have gotten complaints before on her and have done nothing about it. He told me - she's probably busy with online orders. His whole demeanor was just indifferent. He didn't care. I asked if she was new - I described her and he said she's been there since they opened. If that's the case... then the poor reviews about this location are probably alllllll about this same girl. I "think" her name was Cindy. I can't tell from the photo I took. So know now that if you go to this Poki that the customer service is poor. Because it's obvious from talking to Nick and reading these reviews that the reason this girl was so comfortable treating me like that was because the establishment condones it. She was just way too comfortable dismissing me. I asked Nick for his manager and he gave me the name Christine. And of course when I called it was just a full voicemail. I've just decided that this Poki 1 1/2 has all of the customers it needs and doesn't need my business anymore. I won't be treated according to the whims of this rude employee. It really bothered me to be treated this way when I've spent so much money there. I will just go back to Poke Bay and will spread the word about this place to all of my friends. Because I can see clearly from the other reviews that this is a trend. And I would bet my 401k that the rude girl described in all of the reviews is the same meanie with glasses and dark hair that treated me like crap today. Shame on you Poki 1 1/2 UPDATE!!! Today I contacted Nick's manager Cristina and she apologized for Cindy's behavior. She didn't make any excuses and made it clear they do not condone this type of treatment of their customers. I will give the Kearny Mesa location another shot but will make a u-turn if I walk back into the Eastlake location and see Cindy. She won't get a 2nd chance to take her frustrations out on me. I've been going to this Poki 1 n Half for quite some time now. They've always been consistent and have good portions with quality ingredients. So you can imagine my surprise when I had lunch there yesterday and my poke bowl had some semi cooked rice in it. I called and spoke to the manager David. He apologized had empathy and said to stop by tomorrow and he would take care of me. And when I did not only was David courteous and kind he offered me a drink on the side. I thought this place was never going to open. We could use some more competition in the area for poke, so I was excited to see that it had finally opened. I ordered a medium bowl with 3 scoops of fish, with salad serving as the base. They do have options for brown and white rice. The nice part here is that you do not get charged extra for certain toppings, which is kind of a shell game because their prices reflect that surcharge already. I have to say, I was perplexed to see them using romaine lettuce as a base for the salad. Now remember, Romaine retains a lot of water. It would have been much nicer to have mixed greens, such as red and green leaf lettuce. As a result of the romaine, the lettuce was too watery and threw off the texture of the dish a bit. I ordered spicy tuna, salmon, and tuna. It's nice that they have a variety of seafood to choose from, including scallops and shrimp, and "minced lobster". The employee handling my order warned me that the "hot" spice level was not very hot. She let me try the hot and "fire" sauce and I had to agree with her. The fire sauce is the only one that is spicy enough for me to notice. I kept things simple and topped the bowl with your de rigueur poke fare which included sesame seeds, wakame, seaweed salad, edamame, and masago. I added spicy mayo and the hot sauce on the salad and the fish itself. The bowl had good flavor, and the fish tasted fresh. Again, my only complaint is the romaine lettuce that just didn't meld nicely with the rest of the dish. Overall I had a positive experience here. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. Finally had a chance to try Poki One N Half while I was back in San Diego, since they opened one close to my mom's area, I was excited to see what all the hype was about with this poke place since a lot of people have told me great things about it. I've had poke at other places, and I'm not that picky, so I was excited to see what they offered. I liked the fact that they were open later than most poke spots, making them one of the spots I'll likely go to when I'm craving poke. But I disliked how the lady that helped me seemed kind of annoyed that I didn't know what I wanted just yet, but never asked if I had been there before or not. When I asked to sample of of the sauces she seemed a little annoyed, but still let me sample and then I explained that it was my first experience there. The quality of ingredients is always great here, the biggest complaint is the inconsistency of the servings. I think they need to have better training for people. I've had this opinion for a while, but today broke the camels back. The scoops were not even full scoops. I paid extra to make it decent to receive an acceptable amount of protein, but it really bothered me to have to pay 2 scoops extra to make that happen. Never have seen it so bad here. I give it 2 stars because the flavor and quality is good. The inconsistency is a big problem here, especially free the prices have gone up. Not worth paying $25 for a poke bowl that was under served. Management, please train your people and make sure they understand before you put them up front. Not asking for it to be overdone, but just give the customers what they pay for. read more

I usually go to the one in Convoy area, so it's great there is one closer to home now. Every employee was so friendly & this spot is a lot more bigger than their other location. My husband and I have loved coming to this place for a long time. We've always had a great experience and loved the food. We kept coming back every week at least several times a week. Until the most recent visit. Just asking for a an extra scoop of fish ended up being more expensive than it was worth. They decided to charge a whole extra bowl just for one scoop extra of fish. So you basically pay for two bowls when you only bought one. They should charge an extra dollar or two for extra scoops but not another entire bowl.
