I've actually had this poke joint on my radar for quite some time and I was quite excited because every picture I've seen looked delicious and plus, many reviews that said that portions were generous as well. I went in around 4pm on Sunday, July 14, 2019 and I was the only one in the restaurant. I was expecting everything to be great, especially the service and the speed, but my oh my, was I wrong. Anyways, I got a Large Bowl: -For my base, I got white rice. This was easily the worst rice I have ever had with all my poke experiences. First off, it was really lukewarm and hard. Second, it had no seasoning at all. It was just really heavy. -For my four scoops of protein, I went along with salmon, ahi tuna, seared albacore, and scallops. First off, the fish seemed pretty fresh, but they were all pretty lukewarm. However, as fresh as it seemed to be, the flavor profile was lacking. Last and literally the least, the portions were pretty horrific. Even after a light scoop of proteins, the girl that helped me out would shake off a piece of two. I got on average, five or six small pieces of fish, which is very absurd. Very disappointed already. Oh, to top it off, I asked for onions and cucumber, but she literally gave me five pieces of those too. -For my sauce, I just got it spicy. Sauces were nonexistent, no flavor profile at all. -For my toppings, I got seaweed salad, masago, ginger, wasabi, jalapenos, green onions, and sesame seeds. Everything was pretty damn disappointing. Why, oh why, did my server have to shake off ever scoop of toppings when it was so little already? I don't even know how to answer that question to be honest. I was over it already and just wanted my bowl so I can pay and go home to eat. Honestly, the most disappointing poke spot I've been to so far. For $13, I expected so much, especially from all the positive pictures and reviews I've seen on this page. Obviously, most of you all haven't had good quality and great tasting poke bowls. Also, four scoops of proteins for a large? Skimpy portions? That's a complete no from me. The best part about this was the check-in offer that scored me a bottle of some Arizona iced tea. On top of all this, the girl that served me was painfully slow. Instead of going from step to step with both bowls, she went through each step for each bowl I got. I got two bowls and I had to repeat myself so many times, even if I was only giving her 3-5 selections per step. I was getting pretty tired of repeating myself because it just didn't seem like the girl was paying much attention. On top of that, her customer service skills were way below par. I saw another girl do a pick up order and her scoops were much more generous and she was moving really fast as well. I wish I had come in at a different time so I can have her serve me, to be brutally honest with you. Taste: 2/5 Price: 2/5 Portion: 1/5 Service & Efficiency: 1/5 Overall: Pretty damn bad for a shop that's been open for over a year. There's not a ton of Poke places in this area and unfortunately Poki Poki isnt all that great. I'm used to high-caliber options for the price but it's decent enough to curb a Chipotle-style Poke fix! Food: - Regular Bowl (3 scoops of protein - $10.95): Their menu prices are a little outdated but as of 2/6/20, this is the price of a regular bowl. Portion-wise it's "filling enough". Flavors of the Ahi tuna, Salmon mixed with sauces and veggies are not unique or deep but decently created. Luckily no issues with contamination or fish going bad but take note that if there's not a ton of foot traffic to be a little wary of how fresh the fish is. So far my portions were decent, consistency was decent, but nothing outstanding. Brown rice was extra cold which is not a bad thing but a little odd considering usually it's slightly warmer. Toppings were generally fresh. I also had the spicy salmon which was a little slimier than I'm used to. Pros: - Usually not very busy so you're in and out quickly. - Not horrible prices. Large bowl is $12.95, Regular bowl is $10.95. - Check-in on facebook gives you half an avocado. Better than nothing! Cons: - Not the freshest ingredients and not the most unique ones either. - $10 credit card minimum. Tips: - They use FiveStars rewards program if you're into racking up points for future purchases. I got dinner from here since I had a free extra scoop or free avocado scoop. I went around 6:30 so it was not busy at all. I order a regular bowl with 2 scoops of spicy tuna and 1 scoop of ahi tuna. My extra scoop was spicy salmon. For sauces, I got spicy Mayo and eel sauce. For toppings I got nori, tempura flakes, seaweed salad, crab meat, corn, masago, edamame, and wasabi. I paid around $15 for my bowl which is a little pricier than other places but the portion was a good size. I really enjoyed my bowl. I should have asked for extra sauce on the side though since I ordered mostly pre seasoned proteins (spicy tuna and spicy salmon). Because of this, only the ahi tuna was seasoned with the sauces. It's amazing they can stay open for delivery during this pandemic and glad they have Uber eats for someone like me who sometimes don't feel like driving and just order online to get it delivered. Hehe I love this poki poki joint since it's close to where I live but this time, I was really disappointed. They got my order right like my protein and add ons but forgot the main one that I love so much...spicy mayo!! I didn't see any sauce on my rice nor the protein and plus it was super spicy as well. I'm the type that cannot handle my spice, that's why I order mild with a little kick but this...oh...it was really spicy where my lips and tongue was burning. I had to drink 2 water bottles to cool me down. I was like woah, is this mild or spicy, spicy cus this does not at all feel mild. I had to suck it up and eat it all. Didn't want to waste it and just throw it away. I clearly noted if they can put spicy mayo on the protein and on top of the rice (see receipt) but nothing was there so I was disappointed and did not have a good dinner yesterday. Honestly this place is pretty much whatever, I feel like it's kind of misleading how they present it to you. They use one scoop per onigiri and it seems to me like they flatten it out on the outside and the middle is pretty thin with like all rice. Salmon didn't have enough sauce, I wish I had gotten all spicy tuna. In terms of taste, it was ok but nothing that changed my life or made me excited. The seaweed was pretty soft already when I drove 5 min to my house. Other things: I waited like 15 minutes because one worker was making all them for me, despite other two people not really doing anything. It was also kind of annoying how they didn't let me redeem the yelp check in for a drink because it's apparently for poke bowls only.
