I would recommend kabuki's poki bowl at Bella Tera, it cost less and taste way fresher or full moon sushi has a poki bowl for $10 that is also better. Poki island on beach and Talbert is way better. If you've had poke from other places then you would know that this place isn't the best. A regular bowl comes out to be $14 and they charge about $2 for seaweed salad.. I understand avocados, but for seaweed salad?! I also got brown rice and it was pretty dry. The fish was okay but not amazing. I wish they gave more veggies too. Overall, it was edible. Prices have really skyrocketed. $11.99 is now the price of a regular and they still upcharge you for items that are included with every other poki shop. Almost $2 to add seaweed salad? Ridiculous. I got cubed spicy tuna, tuna, and salmon with white rice, cucumber, fake crab, edamame, furikake, ginger, and wasabi. For sauce I had ponzu and spicy mayo. The ahi was full of sinew and very hard to chew. Almost all of it was this way and very hard to eat. The salmon though was tender. Fish tasted good though and seemed very fresh and I liked the sauce flavor. I also liked how the cucumbers tasted like they were tossed in rice vinegar which added a nice flavor to the bowl. I think for the price and portion size they should include the seaweed salad as part of the bowl. This is a pretty cheap item to buy. The avocado I get since most places charge extra. Since the chewy sinewy fish was a turn-off I don't think I'll be back. The employee seemed very annoyed he had customers and was very rude with the guy in front of me who had some questions since it was his first time. read more

Honestly, if you can move past the cold hearted staff working here, then you should be fine. Don't get me wrong, it's not like they're mean or unprofessional - just don't expect a smile with your food. Ok, now let's move on to the other parts of Poki Star. It starts with either a Regular (3 scoops of protein) for $9.99 or Large (5 scoops of protein) for $12.99. Regular is enough for me and you can split a Large between two people. There is enough protein - fish, tofu or tamago (egg) to satisfy your poke desires. You can either pick from tuna, spicy tuna, salmon, scallop, albacore, shrimp, or chicken. The fish tastes fresh and the topping selections are great. You can also mix up your sauce to make it spicier. Some of the layers are extra e.g. avocado for extra $.99, seaweed salad for extra $.75, and black rice for extra $2. Again, I still think $11-ish after taxes for the portion you get is good value. If you're coming here for lunch, come before noon. The line goes out the door during peak times (12:25-12:45). But don't worry too much, there's 3 people working behind the counter so the line moves quickly. There's ample seating here with plenty of elbow room between tables. And the place is very clean. All in all, I highly recommend this place for your poke desires. If only the service came with a smile, I would definitely give this place 5 stars. read more

Insert tears here.. and not that of joy. Place has really changed post Covid. I already have trust issues, but please update your online times "post Covid" !! When your customer shows up to grab dinner at 8 and the place says it closed at 9 online- But the salty worker points to the paper on the door that now says 8 your customers may or may not snap at being hangry. They have now changed the plastic bowls to a decomposable one (Very Nice and Thank you for saving our earth) But now they are smaller and you are still charged as if they were larger portions. Fish is still good quality and salad is still nice and crisp, but really the sauce is nothing to write home too. Whoever was working on 07/22/24 seems to be unable to read an online ordering order because oh my goodness was it awfully wrong! My order had said NO vegetables but all I got was a sht ton of them all over! I asked for extra crab meat (which costs extra) and it wasn't there. it's poke, pretty good but like every other poke i've ever had ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ the selection of toppings is a little limited but it has the basics so it's alright. i would recommend teriyaki or eel sauce on your proteins and spicy mayo over the entire bowl (instead of mixing the spicy mayo into the fish directly). also, the cucumber is soaked in this vinegar mixture that kind of catches you off guard when you eat it, so watch out for that! read more

Having switched jobs from the Anaheim area down to Huntington Beach I was bummed. There is a large concentration of Poke spots up there and not so many down here. A coworker told me that they wanted to try out some poke and Poki Star was the closest to us. It was not a bad choice, but personally, I do not feel like it competes in flavor and portion sizes with Poke Co or even Pokimonetry. Also a bit pricier than all those other places as well. I ordered my new usual at a poke place: regular: white rice, cucumbers, onions, avocado ($0.75 extra!), crab meat, 2 scoops of shrimp, 1 scoop of salmon, masago, green onion and all tossed in spicy mayo. The portion sizes are on the smaller size compared to most of the other poke places in Orange County. It could be that the bowls are big, but in all honestly it just looks like they do not serve as much. All the fish looked fresh and tasted fresh, none of this old salmon stuff here. I was in a small foodie disbelief when I say that both avocado and seaweed salad (not that I eat any) were an additional $0.75 each! All the other Poke places give this stuff away for free when you order! No one likes having to pay for avocado, I am looking at you Chipotle. The flavors of all the ingredients were good. The spicy mayo tasted a lot like mayo, which not my favorite thing in the world. It was not as bad as other places where it tastes straight up like miracle whip or Best Foods, but it has a hint of that mayo base in it. Perhaps next time I will have to ask for some of the volcano sauce as I tend to like my Poke on the spicier side of things. The smashed spicy tuna meshed perfectly with the rice, mango, cilantro, cucumber, sesame seeds and doused in spicy ponzi sauce. Weird combo I know, but I don't like fish and I need to disguise it the best I can. My bowl concoction didn't scare my palate, in fact I kind of liked it. I will not be back here, ever. The owner is BEYOND CHEAP AND RUDE. You can go in there and support a local business, being a resident day in and day out, and they want to upcharge you for an extra scoop of a topping. I've tried Poke Island and Poke Haus, both not too far from here, and NO OTHER POKE spots charge for an extra scoop of crispy onions. She would rather lose a client giving her 500 a month to argue and want to charge you a dollar or two for each extra scoop of onions. It was the most ABSURD and outrageous upcharge for someone supporting them almost daily. As a business owner, I find this a deplorable business practice. When you offer 10 toppings for your clients to choose from, and I select only 3, it's unreasonable to charge for an extra scoop of crispy onions. This is not how you treat a loyal customer, especially one who is trying to support local businesses. Today they didn't have wonton chips, so I got the regular nacho chips. It's pretty delicious for a newcomer to poki and the wait isn't bad. The customer service is great and the place is very clean.
