I LOVE POKÉ. So I am really excited that this location is SOO close to my home! A couple pointers about this place... It was good poke but not the best place I have been to. However, for how close it is, I will take it. The ingredients are fresh but they do have a slightly more limited choice in toppings than places I've gone to before. I also thought the portioning was a LITTLE bit small but I probably wouldn't be able to finish a whole thing by myself (I shared with someone). The service was okay. The person working at the register was super nice but I did feel that everyone could have been a little bit more attentive. They did make sure to ask about all the toppings including the seaweed flakes which I found nice. There's room to sit inside but most people seemed to be getting to-go. I prefer the one in Anaheim in harbor, the one in Costa Mesa inside the camp, or the one in Westminster on Brookhurst. Whenever I'm craving poke during the work week, I head here for lunch. Fish is always fresh and portions are hearty. I usually get a large with half salad and half white rice with a mix of regular and hot tuna with their house sauce. There are plenty of toppings to customize your bowl and I've never been disappointed. It keeps me full and doesn't make me groggy for the rest of the day. It can get kind of busy during lunch rush but before 12 you should be good to go. The parking lot isn't huge but I always seem to find a spot right away. DO NOT give them a nasty look. That is rude and disrespectful... Got the avocado, crab and ginger. Added the spicy mayo, toasted sesame and a splash of ponzu. I went with the large bowl for $11.99. The scoops are a bit on the tiny side, more like a butter scoop. It just depends on how they grab a scoop as to how much fish you get. If they dig in deep you get a few more pieces, if they just try and scoop it like they are in a hurry u may only get one or two pieces. I added green onions, nori and seaweed to top it off. Fresh and best of all, local!! You don't have to drive all the way to the beach front to get poke now. I ordered a large to share with my boyfriend, it did not have enough to split. We might just have to order our own next time. We got 4 scoops of salmon and one scoop of the spicy tuna (the "mushed" one) and the fish was surprisingly fresh! I am usually very careful about ordering spicy tuna because some restaurants use bad tuna for their spicy tuna. But it tasted very fresh here! Toppings were good, avocado is free and they have fresh cucumbers :) Seaweed is $0.75 extra (that's a little weird since people usually charge for the avocado). They always seem mad or frustrated and they are not friendly to customers. Robot-like, really. And I went in this week and they've increased their bowls by a dollar. It's not that good and there are a lot of other Poki places popping up. I've actually had better poki. I can go to nearby sushi restaurants and do just as good, for what is now, a $13 lunch. It would be less of an issue if someone was friendly in the place and I felt like my business was appreciated. They offer the standard sides but charge extra for avocado and seaweed which was kind of disappointing. They had a good selection of proteins and I selected salmon and albacore which were tasty. For toppings I chose masago, ginger, and wasabi and for the sauce I had their house ponzu sauce with a side of spicy mayo. They had dry toppings too like fried onions and furikake.
