I rarely order takeout because I am so picky and almost always cook at home. Polash is the only place in my neighborhood I will order from. It is always flavorful, hot, organized, and arrives less than 30 minutes from when I call. Also well proved for delivery. I am what you would call a health nut. I haven't tried any of the fried items or breads, but my husband loves their naan and pakoras. The spinach, chickpea, lamb, and chicken dishes I have tried were so satisfying and never leave me feeling weighed down or sluggish. I always have leftovers because the portions are so generous. (My husband finishes his entire entree and is totally stuffed, but happy.) I haven't been disappointed by any of the menu items. Everything is just good! The ingredients taste fresh and the sauces are well balanced with spice and texture. You would think that with so many menu items, it would all start to taste the same, but no. We live in the neighborhood, and tried this place for delivery for the first time tonight. It was excellent. Very authentic Indian food, carefully prepared and packaged. They actually listened to us when we said we dont want the "american spicy", we want the "Indian spicy" for all our dishes. Food was so flavorful, and so delicious. I am so impressed that Polash stays true to the Indian culture-- unlike alot of the chinese restaurants int he neighborhood that serve yellow spanish rice, or hamburgers and chicken wings! Polash stays true to its roots-- its an indian restaurant through and through. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, I dont think it will disappoint. Though I have never gone into this restaurant I am rating the delivery. I love Indian food and I found it great that there was actually an Indian restaurant in Harlem. (Thank you Yelpers!) 1st time I ordered I of course had the curry chicken. I didnt realize that there would be such a large portion of chicken but it was amazing. I enjoyed the mango lassi it was very yummy (it was a first for me.) The 2nd time I had the chicken and mushroom curry which was also deelish oh and did I mention the jasmine rice? Terrible. Ordered in and my chicken was burnt, had bones in it, and I think there was actually a piece of pork in it. The naan came in a Chinese takeout package??? Everything was mediocre, and I stopped eating for fear that I could get good poisoning from the oddly cooked and tough chicken. Definitely look elsewhere. read more

Calling the food at Polash mediocre would be a compliment. We started with the coconut soup and the samosas. The "coconut soup" was literally heated coconut milk with shreaded coconut out of the can. Samosas were dripping with oil. For our entrees we had curry fish and lamb saag masala. for the fish dish they used salmon and I will say no more about that. The lamb was pre boiled and tasteless. We asked for both dishes to be spicy but the only flavor we could taste was salt. please yelp raise your standards a little read more

This review is for delivered food only. Delivery is prompt and I don't expect delivery people to make small talk - it's a simple business transaction. Food always comes warmly heated; no need for a microwave reheat. My fave Indian items are chicken tikka masala, rogan josh (or its equivalent), nan, gulab jamun (did I spell that right? It's the dessert balls with the honey based sauce, yum), and the side dishes. I always order these from Polash. I'd give the food quality and taste at 7 out of 10 which is quite good considering this is Harlem and I'm comparing delivered food to the best sit down Indian meals I've had in lower Manhattan and Queens. I always have enough for a second meal the day after and yes, I finish it all. The mango lassi is not bad but maybe it's better on a sit down meal. One Tip: Seamless doesn't have their meal packages listed. You'd want to go to Polash's website to order that. I heard they have a fabulous lunch buffet for cheap. Anyway, Polash always fixes my Indian cuisine cravings when I'm being my introverted self and just want to cocoon at home. read more

I just got a delivery from this place and food and service was absolutely disgusting!!!! They got my order wrong and when they sent the correct one everything else was cold. Oh and I was warned to make sure I gave back the incorrect order, it will probably be reserved to someone else. No apologies, I was told never to order or call the place again, too many complaints.....??...When I eventually try the food (cause I have just paid for it right) chicken tikka masala was like a salty Campbell's tomato soup at best. No flavor, spice etc. Garlic naan like cardboard with a few pieces of chopped garlic on top, all the condiments were awful and seriously watered down. Maybe 2 pieces of lentil in Dahl... Up until now I had nothing but great things to say about Polash. I thought the food was decent especially for someone who eats mostly vegetarian meals on a regular basis. I would suggest this place to anyone with an ear. Well, today I will never be ordering from this place ever again. After placing my order of delivery, the man taking my order told me to "...take care of his guy." I was confused but quickly realized he meant to tip him. I told him that tipping is discretionary and that every time I order, his "guy" is always late. The man went on to tell me how the delivery guy has been complaining about me not tipping. I live two blocks away so there is really no excuse for the delivery guy to take over 30 minutes to deliver tandoori roti. This happens all of the time. Furthermore, for the past few months the delivery guy has not even delivered my food to my apt. I have to meet him on the sidewalk. So his "guy" is late and does not deliver my food but I should be giving him a tip. Really? Moving on, the man taking my order brushed me off and hung up. After a few minutes, I called and canceled my order. There was really no reason to be so disrespectful and you can't strong arm people into tipping if they feel the service is substandard. Polash is great all around. The staff (possibly the owners? I'm not sure) are incredibly kind and clearly take pride in running this restaurant. I live a few blocks away and have eaten their dozens of times. I have not had one bad meal there. I have taken large groups of friends there for big dinners and we have tried just about everything. I highly recommend the tandoori chicken, paneer or chicken tikka masala, and I have to agree with Cassandra that the garlic naan is great. I'm really sorry, I CANNOT give it an extra star JUST because it's in Spanish Harlem. I can give it props for efficient, clear, and quick delivery. However, the food, although plentiful (esp. for the Polash dinner and the others) is simply mediocre. Sauces are plastic, I've tried a bunch. Came here with my family for my nephew's HS graduation dinner and everything was great. The service was good, waiters were very attentive. Food was one of the best Indian I had in the area. Everything tasted fresh and very flavorful. Even my 5 year old asked for 2nds on the rice and chickpeas! It was empty when we were there at 6 PM, but definitely not because of food or service. We catered a large tray of beef biryani for a party this afternoon and Polash's customer service was great. I placed the order late Friday evening and they delivered right on time today, Sunday, at 12:30pm even though they only opened for business at noon. The food was delicious - the beef was tender and the rice was tasty, but not oily. Would def order from them again. read more

Orderd a delivery for chicken biryani and chili chicken. It was horrible. Even on telling medium spicy there was no salt or spices. Also chilli chicken was like khadai chicken. Also chicken tasted like just boiled and put in gravy. Would never recommended this place to for indian food, there are better options nearby than this. read more
