First off I love the food, and they deliver quickly. So for food quality I would give them 4.5 stars. The problem is that I have tried to pay for my food delivery in cash on 3 separate occasions. Each time the delivery guy gets here and says he doesn't have any change... Today I tried something different, when I ordered I asked for my total, $12.50, and told them I only had a $20 bill, which was true. The guy on the phone said no problem, they would make sure the delivery guy had change. Sure enough, the delivery guy shows up and says he doesn't have any change. So I told him to wait there a second while I called the restaurant. They said he had change, because I was the only delivery and because I had asked for it! In the end, I wound up paying with my card over the phone. I don't usually make assumptions, but it looks to me like their delivery guy is trying to hustle patrons out of more money. I've worked literally next door to them for almost two years before finally trying their food. I like how they have an open buffet . I enjoyed the jasmine rice better then expected I accompanied it with a light salad and lamb chops. It was very tender and caught me off guard for the price. Everyone was very fresh and had a zesty tang after taste after it. I will be giving them another chance soon .The environment is very soothing and calm. They also have meat boxes (very generous portion) I suggest two can eat from one order. read more

They always have great food. I always park for a second to run in and get some samosas. They are amazing. Solid Indian food at extremely reasonable prices. I e eaten in the restaurant and had delivery multiple times. Delivery is always prompt and efficient. Dining there, the restaurant was pretty empty and it certainly isn't much to look at it but who cares, the food is delicious with huge portions on the cheap. I have not been to this restaurant but ordered delivery based on yelp reviews. Delivery was fast and the food was hot and delicious. The vegetable samosas were excellent, slightly crunchy with delicious warm softness inside. The chicken tikka masala was slightly salty but you can taste the different flavor notes. I frequently hop on the M60 to get more Polash. It's just a great value for delicious Indian food. Most of the dishes are not quite like any other Indian I've had, but the menu is huge, prices are reasonable, and I've never ordered anything I haven't enjoyed to some degree. So far, I've had the following: Chutneys - I'm a fan of the green one especially, but they're all pretty good with some pakoora or on a samosa. Vegetable samosa - Better than the meat samosas, fried happiness Chats/salads - Both good. If you get the appetizer with the liver, make sure you really like liver first. Really. They give you a lot of it. Malai Kufta - I am a big fan of their version. It's quite sweet, and the coconut is very noticeable (as in, they mix in coconut flakes with the coconut-milk-based curry). Vindaloo - Goes great with lamb, they'll actually make it spicy if you ask them. Most places keep it too mild for my taste. Poori, naan - Warm carbs. nothing to complain about here Pistachio lassi - Salty and sweet with bits of pistachio in the drink too! Mango lassi - Very sweet, but NOT the best mango lassi I've had. Sweet lassi - Sweet drinking yogurt. Just like it says. Spicy lassi - Tastes like... sour cream? I enjoy it, and occasionally crave it. It's like a tangy yogurt dip Kashmiri- A little too sweet for my taste, but my dining partner thought it was delicious. First time I found leechee (not to be confused with leeches) in an Indian dish. Lamb Korma - I get this a lot. It's got the sweet and savory flavor I really go for in curries. Roganjosh - Very tomatoey sauce. Not too spicy, and great with rice. You can get better quality food elsewhere, but this is a great value and is highly enjoyable. The restaurant is surprisingly spacious, and the owners are really nice. They remember me! I had saag paneer (spinach and cheese), paneer naan, and a mango lassi. The saag paneer was a bit lighter than other saag paneers I have had, resulting in a stronger and fresher spinach flavor. It did not have any spice to speak of though, which was disappointing. The saag paneer at Seva in Astoria blows this one away. The mango lassi was ok, but nothing to write home about. Same for the naan. Overall, satisfying but I have definitely had more impressive Indian food in Queens. Also the appetizers and dal were very good, average service. read more

I can't believe I haven't raved about this place yet. This is my favorite Indian restaurant in Manhattan. I take out of here often. It's delicious, affordable, fast and friendly. Thanks to other Yelpers for recommending it because I've come to rely on Polash for great Indian uptown. I usually get a lamb dish, either vindaloo, rogan josh, or kadai, all of which are consistently great. My lady had only positive things to say about the saag paneer and the channa masala. read more

This review is for delivery and food. I called to order and it was quick and easy. Food came fast and it was hot. Everything was so so good and delicious. The samosa was the best I ever had. It's like Spanish empanadas. I can't say nothing bad bc everything was delicious. I ordered the tandori mix grill which was good with the special rice. You get rice with the tandori mix which I didn't know. But the rice was nice thin and fluffy like my bf said. The garlic Mann was good. I didn't taste allot of garlic in it but it was good. Excellent food! Tried a few vegetable dishes and seafood dishes for takeout and happy with them all. Tandoori chicken was a hit with my date. My favorite part though is the weekend buffet...everything is hot and fresh and its only about $8 a person. Staff members are very friendly and make you feel comfortable. so I had my first meal from here. I was undecided on what to order but the waiter was very patient with me. I ended up ordering the lunch box to go I got the meat box which was curry chicken. the curry chicken was very flavorful but the rice was very soft and soggy I didn't enjoy it. I also purchased vegetable samosa they was very good . The spice is just right. I love Indian food and am pretty fluent Indian take out menus, and for the price this is a great value. While I have never been to the restaurant in person, i have enjoyed multiple times ordering in. That said, I recommend the Aloo Gobi Matar and Lamb Buna and basically all of the vegetarian dishes are amazing. To be honest- I was a bit disappointed in the poori, Raita, and condiments but I'm really all about the main dishes and basmati anyway, so no harm no foul. All and all this is a very decent Indian spot for a good price if you are in Yorkville. We've ordered from Polash three times now, and each time the food has been amazing. I can't get enough of the garlic naan. Delivery is quick, I don't know how they get here so fast. We don't even live particularly close. I've never actually been to the restaurant, so I can't speak to the decor or the service in that regard. I hope this place stays around forever and ever. Yum! I ordered: Coconut Poori (fluffy bread with shredded coconut inside) Vegetable kufta malai (fried veggie balls with coconut and almond sauce, I ordered the mild version since the chicken is so spicy) Chicken vindaloo (spicy red curry with chicken and potatoes supposed to come with daal but they didn't deliver it) Vegetable Samosa (fried vegetable pastry) I was told I had to order $4 more because I lived out of the free delivery area. I live about 15 blocks north of the restaurant in east harlem so I wasn't surprised. But I decided to order from Polash because I had heard good things about it. I asked the person I was speaking with what he would recommend and he suggested the samosa. The order came quickly compared to other deliveries from restaurants that are closer to where I live. The food was wonderful! I was so glad I got the samosa because it was something I've never tried before. It came with a broth-like sauce and the taste reminded me of chicken pot pie minus the creaminess. So good! The vegetable kufta was great. Not too sweet. i had to get used to the texture though. I had tried a similar dish at a different restaurant and the texture was much more smooth. The texture was like a puree but the almonds made it thicker than I was expecting. I've had chicken vindaloo before and it lived up to any of the others in my past. It was certainly spicy, but not the spiciest I've ever had. Coconut poori was great. It was nice with the vindaloo. It's less a dessert and more a side dish since it's only slightly sweet. The best part? I ate a medium sized plate full (it was a late lunch, early dinner for me) of food and I probably have enough food left over for four to five more meals of the same size.
