Pedicure (male nail tech - did not offer his name or any other verbalizations during the quick pedi) was efficient. Priscilla did my fill. Reasonable experience (quick, comfortable, clean etc) but less than a week later two nails are lifting at the base . Will have to find the time to go back in to get fixed. This was my first visit to polished. Might have just been an off day for the techs but I am disappointed. I had such high hopes for this lovely, quiet shop. read more

First time here and they made a customer out of me thanks to Katie! I happened to be running some errands in Downey this afternoon and decided I should get a pedicure. I came across this salon and had quite an enjoyable experience. The front desk receptionist was a pleasure. There are a variety of nail colors to choose from. The ambience is FAB-U-locity! I tried this place one day when i needed a fill and a pedicure. The owner is sweet and serves you a choice of complimentary champagne or a mimosa. I went with the mimosa. The space is decorated nicely compared to the average nail salon decor. A male did my pedicure while a female did my fill. The pedicure was fine just as it's hard to mess up a pedicure. The fill made my nails uneven where some nails were thicker than others and weirdly shaped. On top of that the nail technician working on my fill kept scolding me to keep my hand still when i wasn't even moving? As if her bad nail work was the cause of me slightly moving my hand. Most nail techs know how to get their job done without being rude. I'd come back here if i needed a pedicure since they serve mimosas. But I'm never getting any work done on my fingernails with them again. read more

I like the salon, very cute. The service is only guaranteed for 3 days and that is a problem. I have never been to a salon where there is such a short time for proof of work. I already have a chipped toe after less than a week and my toes NEVER chip. I also got gels done and they look pretty cute, but I can tell they will peel right off the minute I dare to pick at them. I went to get my nails done for a wedding in November. It took almost 2 hours and I was left with lumpy uneven nails because I had a rehearsal dinner to get to. I didn't have another 2 hours to get them done correctly. After this I decided maybe I'll give them another chance. A month later a made an appointment, I was advised I'd get a phone call to remind me..... guess what? That call never came. If you live in Downey, we all know Downey doesn't have the greatest nail salons. As I noticed this new salon, I was eager with hopes that this fact would change. Unfortunately, this is just another bad salon -- except with a nicer face than the others. When I came in for my appointment, first thing I noticed was employees had their children with them at work. I love babies but I was confused if I was at a day care or relaxing nail spa. The receptionist was answering calls with a crying infant in her arms... I have feels but it's unprofessional. My manicurist was very friendly.. but it wasn't until I left I noticed she left my nails uneven. The nails on my left hand were completely shorter with a different shape than the nails on my right. My 15 minute pedicure was satisfactory at most. This experience was definitely not worth the penny. I paid over $100 for myself and for my niece to have a basic child mani+pedi. I don't like nor appreciate how they don't display the prices anywhere. It seemed like the receptionist barely new the prices herself. The receipt does not show price details either! For all I know, she could have made them up. When I asked for the price details, she told me it was "behind the computer and I couldn't see it" -- pretty shady. Never coming back and do not recommend. I don't appreciate condescending comments from unprofessional business owners. I was never asked how old my niece was and no one ever asked her. She is 8 years old. The receptionist made it clear children were the same price. Instead of attempting to educate lost customers, educate your staff. read more

I did not like this place at all! My friend and I made an appointment to get manicures and were kept waiting for ONE HOUR past our scheduled appointment time. And was offered no apology when I was finally helped. I showed a picture of a pink and soft white hombre manicure to the nail tech and asked if she could do that. She said yes but it would have to be with the dip powder. I said that would be fine. After she started the process she suddenly "remembered" the gel polish colors to use and switched to the gel polish. All she ended up doing was painting on some clear pink polish and basically said that it was "close enough" because my nails are long. I argued with her saying it wasn't. She then offered to redo them but at that point I had already been there 2 hours and had no desire to stay any longer. I would give them no stars if I could! I definitely appreciate them for taking the time to discuss my issues and letting me fix them as well. Based off my first initial visit and how they handled it I am willing to give the shop another try. (I have been trying to find the perfect nail salon that is polite and clean and I personally thought this would be the one. But it's been a week since I've gotten my nails done and I am highly disappointed. Considering I paid $54 for these nails, it's pretty annoying that they are lifting and the nail tech who helped me cut my actual nails crooked so you can clearly see that they are slanted underneath considering the fact that it's clear acrylic. If i could leave 0 stars i would! Me and my wife went to go get a pedicure and they didn't want to even accommodate us. They said that they don't know when they could see us and if so they could do one person. My wife then told me to get mine done, we then let the lady know that i would be getting it done and she then said oh the lady said she doesn't know how to do men's pedicure. After researching into polygel nails I decided to give polished nail bar a try. Gave them a call and they had time available for a nail tech to do them. While polygel takes time it's worth it. There was a small little crease and she fixed it with glitter top coat. So cute. Listened to what I wanted and boom! Cute nails! My nails are so pretty and I'm happy with the result. I definitely reccomend coming here and giving them a try. read more

Updated review: I went back and had Raquel do a fill on me. I honestly couldn't be happier. The owner was there as well and she made up for it. She did give me a discount on my total. ----------- I just moved back to Downey so I was super excited to see a new nail shop in town! I went here on a day I had off with a girlfriend of mine. The shop was cute and up to date. It was clean and everyone was friendly. I was even offered a mimosa. I can't give this place 5 stars and I was hesitant to even give 3. I had a full set put on and a pedicure. My full set was atrocious, and to be honest I was so embarrassed. When I walked out my nails looked like I hadn't had them done for over 2 weeks (they looked like I needed a full already), is the price I paid to have them done to look like that, I was really upset. My friend on the other hand; her nails looked AMAZING. I wanted to go back in but I didn't want to embarrass the nail tech. I'm hoping they will be able to make this up to me as I will be giving this place one more shot. read more

An update to my last review: the owner of the store had seen my review and immediately tried to contact me ( which I highly appreciated) luckily after I had told my mom about my nails she quickly went to Polished nail bar to speak with the owner who had tried to contact me through yelp. They don't do refunds but the offered to redo my nails but with someone different. I was hesitant but it was better then waisting more money. Percila is the one who fixed my nails she was the best we had great conversation and she was attentive and cared about my nails and the situation that had happened. 10 out of 10 for my new set of nails it was exactly what I wanted to begin with. The only reason I'm still giving a low stars is because of the inconvenience but it just depends who does your nails there I can't speak for everyone but Christina is the nail tech that originally did my nails and Percila is the one who fixed my nails. First off the place is beautiful. The front desk, chairs & chandelier are all a very nice black with diamond & silver finish. So cute. I came on a Sunday & had very little wait time. Maybe 3 mins. However they only have 3/4 nail techs there a day regularly I believe. So I recommend calling in/ making an apt. Front desk staff was very friendly & attentive. The receptionist offered me a cup of water & was attentive to asking if I wanted refills when it got low/ empty. I got my nails done by Nikki, who I would highly recommend! She was super sweet & friendly, & made conversation with me the whole time. Very, very attentive to the shape & specifics I asked for. She didn't try to rush either. My original request was for a chrome/light pink & after seeing the wheel I chose a mirror chrome/ nude. After getting the shape & acrylic on she recommended that if I used the chrome/nude it wouldn't quite look like what I was going for, & showed me a picture of the Unichrome/pink she was recommending me instead. Omg! Definitely the right choice! It ended up looking SO much cuter! The pink coat alone was cute but when the holochrome was added... Omg! Glad I trusted her cuz they came out awesome. Pricing was good. Also when I left she gave me a nail file & buffer in a small plastic bag which I rlly appreciate because I've never gotten that from a salon before. I tried this place out since it's close to my house. I took the recommendation of making an appointment, which was great. I showed up early, was seated early, and the nails were done so fast. It didn't compromise quality at all. She didn't do 5 nails then the other five nails. She did 3-3-2-2, 5-5, 3-3-2-2. I wondered if it was to cut down time under the UV light. I've been coming to Polished for over 4 years. This past year things have gone downhill. My last 2 appointments started 1 hour after my appointment time. It seems that someone is overbooking or squeezing in unscheduled people right before an appointment. One of my other appointments was cancelled because I was 16 minutes late. Understandably it was my fault for being late. However, when I got there, Katie was still working on someone else, and not too long after I walked in her 3rd appointment walks in. So when they cancelled my appointment they told me her next appointment is here. So they had 3 people in there with promised services with Katie. There is virtually no management so it's disappointing when these things happen and there's no one there to be apologetic over their scheduling errors. read more

I've stopped here twice for a color change and had great experiences each time. I decided to come back for a full mani/pedi and see Annie. Annie was amazing. She took her time and walked me through her process. I told her about my frustrations with my current salon and how I felt like they didn't have any good color selections, which for me is a big issue. I absolutely love my nails! They're shaped the way I like them, the color I chose is gorgeous, and my natural nails still look natural (as opposed to being super thick because of the color being piled on).
