    Pickle soup

I can't believe I haven't left a 5 star review.. we've been going here for 15 years at least. I love the meat, kraut, potato pierogis, my children beg for them! The pickle soup is also to die for.. another family favorite. We found it again in NYC at Veselka. This restaurant is truly a gem. It's a wonderful place to sit and relax with delicious cabbage. My youngest loves the stew and carrots! Sausages are incredibile too. It's not a fast moving restaurant and that's just the vibe. The parking lot can get dicey so I prefer the street! The people who work here are the nicest.

    A fine meal!

Been customers since Huel Hauser visited. We loved this place. I'm afraid the love has gone out the window, we ordered a $60 lunch for two, grizzley pieczen and a shrunken Royal plate. The boxes used are way too small, the naked cabbage roll sat next to ghoulasch, there was no tomato sauce to speak of and little cabbage. I'm guessing it's better to eat in, but am gun shy to try. My pierogi were ok as was the salad. The ( potato soup?) was nothing to rave about or enjoy, I guess I should be glad I got my sodium level raised. Get bigger boxes, a full small box isn't fooling anyone.

Dumplings meals come with soup and salad. Very good

We're at the Polka... I can't DO the Polka though... Wait Yes I can...!!! at least I THINK I can... which is half the battle won right there...! I'm gonna Polka till the cows come home...!!! With some take home Boiled Potato Cheese Pierogi Babey... Potato Cheese in the mix - boiled not fried - were very VERY tasty - and some of the best European style "ravioli" I've EVER tasted...they're not ravioli but if you've never had Pierogi here OR ANYWHERE... HAVE THEM...they're like a "ravioli"... they tasted home made with that fresh pasta dough boiled and with the potato and cheese combination filling inside; made it taste like a "gnocchi"and a "ravioli" combined ...LIKE NOTHING IVE EVER TASTED...I've had Pierogi in a Georgian restaurant... but these Polish style Pierogi were very different style and flavor... in Italian pasta terms...this was pure cuisine art... the sauce was a light onion veggie sautee for the pierogi so you really get to taste the home made quality of the pasta and the potato and cheese filling...which was something very unique and excellent... You get six regular sized (2 inch by 2 inch square sized ravioli/pierogi) "healthily" filled pierogi /ravioli per order; each filled with a lot of potato and cheese filling... and a tiny green salad; you also get a larger purple cabbage salad which was also very VERY superbly condimented...you get both salads with the 6 Pierogis order... both salads were very VERY TASTY just wish they were a bit larger serving size...especially for the purple cabbage salad...which I loved the taste of the light dressing very much...both salads tasted very fresh... Just one order of 6 Pierogis comes with 2 small Salads...and a not so small sized soup... The order also came with a medium sized potato "leek" soup that was absolutely delicious...not sure if that's what type of soup it was... but very tasty...a white potato veggie soup base ...but very tasty as well... Prepare to pay a bit more for better quality food... $24 for the order and no tip because it's take out - in THIS case... Eat in should make it about $30 per person with no dessert...and no drink...for a Pierogi experience... $40 maybe a bit more with a drink and dessert...per person But you won't need a dessert when you're done... because just one order can serve two people... Not cheap... but well worth it for an authentic Polish Pierogi experience.... I'm definitely coming back for a sit in experience soon and will venture on different styles of Pierogi fillings which they seemed to have many different types of.... And considering the quality of what I tasted so far... definitely will return...and Polka some more! "We're dancing hia!" Not just sittin in... "And no ! You can't cut in...!! BUDDY!!!" "Can't you hear !? The song ain't over yet!!!"

We come here the time for pierogis because my mom loves them. This is usually a special birthday treat for her every year because we live an hour away. The food is always so good. Today we had the spinach soup, I wasn't sure when he mentioned it but it was delicious!

Wife and I stopped by for lunch on Sunday, located in a small strip mall, staff was very friendly, service was quick, ordered the pork schnitzel and the royal, more than enough food, price for 2 with tax and tip was $65. Started off with potato soup and salad Schnitzel was nice and thin, cooked well, came with corn, broccoli, mashed potatoes and mushrooms gravy, royal came with hunters stew, cabbage roll, two perogis, veggies and potatoes. Everything was good, cabbage roll was especially good. Would give them another visit next time we are in the area.

Outside. Parking isn't the best in this mini-strip mall.

Saw this restaurant Polka on an old episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Had to finally check it out. The food here taste homemade and made with love. Nothing gourmet, but oh SO good! My least favorite thing here was the potato pierogi kinda bland; the meat filled pierogi was great, they were out of mushroom/sauerkraut - probably their best seller. The beef stew is a must. Can't decide? Go for the "Royal Plate" which has a little bit of everything. I'd return here again and again. Good food, service and cozy environment.

Lunch service was amazing, tried pickle soup for the first time and it was delicious. Everything was fresh and I truly enjoyed my meal

Inside a small parking plaza, you'll find a quaint and quiet polish restaurant. Imagine stepping into grandma's house, the cute vintage decor and the soft music playing in the background. Comments: the soup was good with some pasta mixed in, but it did taste kind of watered down. The pierogi was good but I didn't taste much flavor other than the spiciness from the jalapeño. The beef stew was good but the beef was a little tough. I would recommend if you're looking for a quiet polish restaurant in the neighborhood. Booth seating around the restaraunt to accommodate small or large parties. Order: Pierogi Potato, Cheese, Jalapeño and beef stew (comes with salad and tomato soup)

My first time trying polish food and was good something different. Love the spinach cream soup, the beer and the crepes must have. The pierogi was ok for me and the cabbage roll also fine... Service was awesome the guys explained all the questions we had and make sure we enjoy everything... It's a small restaurant in a plaza very cozy with small parking. Recommended if you want to try something different.

"Grandma's Hands" sums up the comfort many of us associate with Grandma's cooking. The owners and employees are doing a five-star job at forwarding that kind of comfort to the community and customers here. First of all, everything is freaking deliciousness! Admire the always-on-point "People Love Us On Yelp" sign as you arrive. The free parking lot offers nice and ample parking spaces for disabled customers as well as tables upon arrival which can comfortably accommodate wheelchairs. Now don't get me wrong, I love fancy gastronomy featuring tres Nouveau French culinary techniques just like you but I absolutely ADORE borscht, stuffed cabbage and plav equally. (Even more sometimes!) I've been shopping here and picking up takeout here for a long time. My experiences have only been better over the years. The discounts can be incredible and I appreciate sale-priced groceries in today's economy as well as the opportunity to support local and international farms. Sunflower seeds, sunflower oil, low sugar and no sugar added cookies, pastries and cakes, caviar, dried fish, pickled Herring, perfectly ripe berries, smoked fish, halva, cheese spread, jams, and artisan teas, all five stars. But wait. Is it a Russian-American market where I find the most Ukrainian imported groceries and ways to support Ukrainian farming?! Yep! +Heart hands emoji+ This market does a great job of offering a nice seat and friendly conversation to the average dine-in customer. Stop by to sip on an imported pear juice. Try a bite of fresh cream cheese cake with berries. Ask for advice! Go for the Beef Plav which is an employee favorite. The Beef Plav here contains a generous amount of tender, lean beef with carrots, savory buttery rice and whole softly roasted garlic cloves. Yum! (Five stars!) I've found some especially healthy and nutritious food here for my health recovery goals recently. About six years ago, I had been exposed to high levels of radiation according to a good old fashioned Geiger counter. My health began to drastically decline and I became very weak. I could barely stand and I barely survived. I knew about a famous brave Ukrainian woman who had survived radiation exposure thanks to her unborn child. Her survival story led to me requesting female cancer screenings which led to the surgeries that saved my life. (**Confetti flying **) There's a very long list of doctors and people who have helped me survive and recover to whom I live for in gratitude. Our commitment to the people and values which help us survive the impossible compels us to rise to the occasion of coming back stronger and better than we ever could have accomplished before or alone. So I'm drinking bone broth, eating extra protein, taking vitamins. And lifting weights with steadfast determination to recover my strength and then some. (Go Navy!) No market has helped me more in this health effort than this hidden gem. (Many thanks!) I am the customer who buys ALL the boxes of pastilla. (SORRY OTHER CUSTOMERS!) Pastilla is a layered pastry made of baked apples and eggs white, no sugar and nothing else! It's a miracle of a snack! Tastes like apple cake, made of egg whites. Protein in my car after working out? Five million stars. ***** To all y'all spending big bucks on cold bone broth, consider the chilled chicken gelatin dish here. Khoolidets? -It's rich with real collagen, high in protein and perfectly balanced with firm carrots and vegetables.I love this dish! Five stars. A real life look young dish! My personal secret to looking a little younger than my age is recovering from surgeries and serious stuff through nutrition, hard work and most importantly, contributing to my community. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. I ordered the chicken schnitzel with mushroom gravy, my boyfriend got the Hungarian brat with spaetzle, and our friend ordered the Hungarian brat on a roll. Starting with the schnitzel: it wasn't completely terrible, but it definitely wasn't good. The breading was some what soggy and sliding off the chicken, and the chicken itself had almost no seasoning besides an odd lemony sourness. The mashed potatoes were honestly awful -- extremely sour, like they were overloaded with sour cream but missing butter, salt, or any real flavor. I LOVE mashed potatoes and only managed two bites before giving up. The red cabbage was overcooked, mushy, and had a slightly off taste. Overall, the schnitzel plate was maybe a 2/10, and those points go solely to the fact that the chicken itself was technically edible. My boyfriend's meal somehow managed to be worse. The bratwurst was fine, but tasted frozen and reheated rather than fresh. The sauerkraut, according to him, "tasted like dirty socks." The spaetzle was genuinely offensive -- mushy, overly bland, and tossed with what looked like hydrated diced mushrooms that literally tasted like dirt. I honestly questioned whether it had gone bad. Beyond the food, the restaurant itself felt dirty and had a strange smell throughout. It honestly seems like a place locals may still visit out of habit or convenience, but it no longer reflects what I imagine it once was. It's unfortunate, because there's something special about a restaurant that's been around for 65 years and still tries to maintain its old-school charm. Sadly, the food and cleanliness just don't live up to that legacy anymore. Save your money unless you're only stopping in for an overpriced German draft beer. We definitely won't be back.

They also always bring out some fresh Russian bread for FREE and they are super giving on the portion. The soup is a 10/10, reminds me of the Hong-Kong style borscht soup. Comforting, healthy, and hearty! The salad is by far the major reason I keep coming back. The dill, fresh tomato slices, salty onion, and cucumber with a little zest is so tasty and again super healthy! The pelmeni and tabaka are classics you can never go wrong with. The pelmeni also reminds me of Chinese pork dumplings and are absolutely delicious with their fresh sour cream dipping sauce. Today, however, I went with one of their signature items--chicken blintzes in porcini mushroom sauce. Definitely a must try here. The design here is rustic, old school Ukrainian-Russian, with a lot of wood finishes. The customer service here is consistently amazing. Will definitely be back again!
