Beautiful park with a nice lake and lots of trees for shade. We were able to find parking on a Sunday in the parking lot off of N. Peck Ave. The park was not that busy and easy to keep social distance. The park is also clean and the bathrooms are well kept. The only not-so-great thing is that botanical garden. Everything was pretty much dried up there, not sure who was suppose to maintain it. The park itself was fantastic! read more

I always enjoy parks with ponds or small lakes because they attract wildlife. The only drawback is the bird poop that is difficult to avoid stepping on because it's everywhere. The garden area is a plus and there's plenty of public parking along the main street. read more

My favorite aspect of this park are the yellow and black colored butterflies fluttering near the trees. Even though this park is located right off the street, it's still pretty quiet. It is spacious, with many large trees, a large playground, and a workout area with stationary exercise equipment. Be careful, ants fall from the trees and land on you. I met the local squirrel, who thought I had food. He left, once he/she realized I didn't have any. At least it didn't decided not to attack when it was ignored. It's definitely a great place to come with the entire family, including the dog, for a relaxing day at the park. There are plenty of benches and barbecues, along with strategically placed trash bins. Big park. Plenty of space. Not terrible dog friendly. I mean there's tons of people and their dogs but there are also signs saying dogs are not allowed in the park. Dogs and parks go together like PB and J. Dogs...like parks. Parks were made to be big open spaces with trees so you can have fun with your dog. Polliwog even has a huge water spout and pond that attracts ducks and geese. My dog likes to converse with the water fowl and act like she's bossing them around. But alas if you take your dog to the pond area you 1) will get asked to leave because dogs aren't allowed, and 2) aren't allowed to even feed the geese or birds because god forbid that attract other geese to Manhattan Beach. Birds from any other hood aren't allowed. Okay. Otherwise this place is great for kids. Great for picnics. We've been to summer concerts and health fairs. It's a nice open space. Just not for your dog or to feed birds. Hmmmm. read more

This is a great unique park for kids of all ages, as it has an outdoor gym area for people 14 yrs and older to work out at, as well as the typical children's jungle gym play area. There's picnic areas with built in BBQ grills too. I saw there's a water lake area, but didn't investigate the details as to what it's used for and how it's accessed. Absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful and peaceful botanic garden with native flowers + edible plants (like grapes) and lots of wildlife like bees and butterflies. Big pond with cute turtles and birds. Watch out for bird poop all over the concrete. Spacious, green, and easy to navigate. People had their dogs on leashes and everyone kept their distance. There were enough people around to make the place feel cheerful, but not crowded enough to make it hard to distance. Also quite diverse in terms of people: young, old, families, teens, Black, Asian, White, and Latinx. Pretty clean except for some trash in the water and the aforementioned bird waste. Excited to come back again! Note: Decent amount of street parking, though it was full when we came. Might be more crowded as it gets warmer out, but should be easy enough to find free parking in a residential neighborhood. read more

This was one beautiful park. Celebrated my grands birthday party. Great playground and cookout areas. Bathrooms were surprising clean. We were lucky enough to have the area with the overhead canopy. The park was big and also had a pond with cute babies. The kids were excited by how close they could get to the babies. Not sure if there was a parking lot on the other side of the pond. I only came to this park for kids and concerts. Polliwog park is beautiful, serene, with lovely water views, expansive and accessible. I decided that grounding on solid earth under a large tree would help cope with the strangulation of efforts to contain the pandemic. What a delight to leave the stress of fighting for position in line, etc. to the calm, inviting bucolic nature spot right here in Manhattan Beach! High recommend to feel safe in public, enjoy the sounds of children's laughter and that life will return to normal in the near term. Nice park with plenty of room, playgrounds, exercise area and a man made lake with red eared slider turtles, ducks and fish. Very nice on the weekends or taking your dog for a walk along the trails. Safe playground equipment with lots of features and they also have a fenced in toddler playground. Spring and summer time concerts add to the fun. Spaces can be reserved for birthday parties and barbecues. Plenty of street parking. Busier on the weekend. ***The toddler area is right next to the lake so you have to be extra careful with the little ones around. read more

Very beautiful and playful park. Lots to do for the kids, lots of open areas and picnic areas, mew bathroom facilities, and there is a pond. It is very huge and, although there were so many people at the park, it wasn't crowded and didn't feel like so. There was actually 3 birthday party going on there. I was in LA visiting a friend and I wanted to take her to a park to relax. This is definitely the park to do so. There is an area for everyone. Playgrounds for the kids, pond for the family, gazebo for couples, grassy areas for relaxers, and walking paths for anyone. I had a great time there and felt really relaxed. It made me forget about the busyness of LA. Definitely recommend visiting. read more

By chance we passed by Polliwog Park last weekend. This park with it`s 18 acres is very beautiful and well maintained. It seems to be a great spot for concerts and special events. It has many benches, a play area for children and also an exercise course. You can also relax while taking a walk near the pond where we saw many turtles swimming in it. So cute :) Very idyllic and not crowded when we went there late afternoon. If I`m not wrong, the park is open until 9pm now. read more

We come quite a bit to this park because we live fairly close by and it changes things up from our usual go-to: Anderson park. Just came yesterday for a couple hours with my older kids and a girlfriend and her two kids. We met at the upper playground which is on the corner of Manhattan beach Blvd and Redondo avenue. The play structure is very nice and large. There are a fair about of benches surrounding the structure and a few picnic tables too. There are BBQs at this park for those in the mood to grill. There is an area with adult exercise equipment. I f you go past the upper playground and follow the path down the hill there is a little lake with ducks and geese. We like to take bread or crackers to feed the birds. In the lower portion of the park there is another playground. This one is gated and good for smaller children. There's also a play structure next to it that is not gated. I don't prefer either of these play areas as they are older and also they don't offer any shade which can be brutal ij the summer. Speaking of summer, the park offers a series of outdoor concerts on select Sundays during the summer. We have yet to go but hope to do so in the future when our kids are a little older. Overall this park is great and offers plenty of fun for little ones. read more

I've driven by this park many times, and have always wanted to visit and finally got to check this place out last weekend when I took my baby for a walk. This park although a bit on the small side is super cute, and great for kids. They have two different sections of the park with two play grounds-one playground looks more for toddler aged children and the other looks more for a bit older children. There is also a work out area near the playground for older children. I can't wait until my baby is old enough to enjoy the playground. There is a pretty pond with tons of ducks. There are a lot of benches and tables to lounge. I came here on New Year's Day, and the park wasn't very crowded. I didn't see a parking lot, but street parking was easy. Since I live close by, I definitely plan to visit this park frequently to relax and enjoy with my family. read more

First off I REALLY REALLY LIKE THIS PARK :) its HUGE !!! it has 3 different playgrounds all NO SAND !!! one is enclosed the other two are not there is a little sand and the only sand is near the pond where a boat sits the kids can play on.. I went there yesterday with my kids. Love the place, but I noticed it needed some cleaning and repairs. The woman's bathroom was a mess, toilet paper, urine and clogged toilets. The apparatus near the pond was closed (looks closed for months). Seems it needed some TLC. Nice place to have a picnic, but could be better based on location. read more

Polliwog or P-Wog as I like to call it, is a wonderful park. Of course I never went here until I had a child. They have three different playground areas and one was recently updated so it is very very nice but also quite crowded. Among the other two play areas, there is one designated for toddlers which is gated and is great when you have kids that like to wander around. There is also a duck pond so bring your old bread and let the kids feed the ducks. Be careful though because you have to watch your child or they will probably try to jump in to the yucky poo-infested water! And one of my favorites - the summer concerts! Parking can be a pain but you can generally find something. It's totally free! My son really enjoys rocking out to the music which you can hear all along the pond area. My husband and I have been coming to this park for years. When today we were out for a run with our Dog and son as we always do every other weekend. To see the lake was flooded over the playground and two little boys ages 11 or 12 years old. These kids were fishing in this lake and physically touching and holding a fish. These kids came to the park with no parental vision to cause issues at the park. Went to contact the office of the park to which they were closed and their website is down. This park needs to be stricter with the rules and not allow kids to be alone at the park. read more

Great human park, bad dog park. It touts being dog friendly but has "no dogs on park" signs everywhere , just limiting the dog walk to the hot asphalt walkway. There is an off leash area that is no bigger than maybe 200 -250 linear feet with wood chips on the ground. It stinks , is cramped , and is near human porta potty's. Even the wild ducks there have more freedom than my dog. read more

It's a big local park with a lot of amenities. There's a large green space up front for picnicking and running around. There's also a big and very nice jungle gym as well as a fitness area for the adults that have a bunch of body weight machines. Down the hill is a big amphitheatre, a pond choc full of incontinent geese, and two more very impressive jungle gyms for the younger kids. Next door is also the public pool and a small public garden. read more

This is a nice, large park in a nice part of town. The kid playground area is nice, and it's nice that there's a pond for the family to see some water fowl. Polliwog Park is a sanctuary with water fowls that freely roam around. I saw turtles swimming about competing for crumbs of food that park patrons throw liberally into the lake. I later saw a sign prohibiting feeding. It's a peaceful park with children's play area. It also houses a small botanical garden. read more

Polliwog Park - You fancy! It just doesn't get more fancy than this. State of the art play areas, brand new, colorful, clean. A separate area for the swings, another area for a kid's "gym". WOW. It seems like it pays to live in Manhattan Beach. There was also plenty of parking for Polliwog park, and the park was able to handle our huge group of maybe 80 people for a company picnic. The restrooms were fully stocked, except for hand soap. And the women's toilet is metal all around, with no toilet lid. If I had kids, I would probably bring them here. The play areas are just so nice and colorful! And the turf they use was so bouncy and new. It's a nice park! read more

This park is beautiful. It is a sizable green space, complete with: a pond, plenty of shade, an area with several outdoor exercise machines, multiple walking trails, and friendly locals. This park is along MB Blvd, and has a reasonable parking situation. This is definitely a good spot to get your fitness on when you want to add variety. I like the gym too, but I need to mix it up and get outdoors too. As far as safety, this place has that down too. MB police do not joke around when it comes to dealing with sketchy characters. This is especially true here considering there is a middle school adjacent to the park. I would recommend this place for a nice touch of nature in big ol LA. read more

I have always been stunned with how well Manhattan Beach maintains this city and this park is a prime example of that. The grass is always freshly cut. The work out area is always clean & trash gets changed out very often. The only downfall is that the pond is filled with turtles and ducks so sometimes it's kinda stinky but otherwise BEAUTIFUL. The best part is that this park is huge. There are many varieties of different types of trees planted here & With a huge pond in the middle of the park and endless benches and gazebos to sit at you and your family are bound to have a wonderful afternoon here. There are multiple playgrounds for the kids to play at and large fields to play soccer and or have a picnic at. At the east end of the park they have a baseball field and a pool too!! SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES....m so bring your family and check it out. read more

Polliwog Park is very special to me. I hosted my Alice in Wonderland themed bridal shower in the rose gazebo 9 years ago. The process for renting the gazebo from the parks department was rather easy and although the non resident fee at the time was a little over one hundred dollars it was by far the least expensive venue around. When we arrived we were greeted by park staff which assisted us with any questions we might have had about the space. The park is quite large and features extensive grassy areas, large playgrounds and a lake. The park is very friendly and patrons are very respectful of other people's spaces. The park is also outstandingly clean for a public park. Since my bridal shower I have visited the park several times for walks and picnics. It's a perfect setting for a afternoon stroll. I have never had a problem finding parking but it can be very crowded during the summer months. read more

I swore I reviewed this place....guess not. Polliwog Park is about 18 acres with a playground, rose garden, pond, 3 gazebos and they have concerts in the park in the summer and alcohol is allowed on the nights when they have the concerts. My son had his 2nd birthday here in one of the gazebos. He did a sail boat science project on the pond. Bring old bread to feed the ducks....kids love that. They also have a 9 hole disc golf course too. read more

Ooooooh the beautiful city of Manhattan Beach!!!!!! From other reviews from fellow yelpers I didn't realize this park was 19 acres! Supposedly one of the biggest parks in the South Bay! This park is so peaceful and adorable lol I love watching the babies and kiddies frolic around and do cartwheels down the grassy hills. Ahhhhh baby fever hahaha the families here are so happy and there are lots of birthday parties. Me and the bf went here recently for a picnic on a breezy Sunday afternoon. This is a great place to come play with your kiddies at the playground and walk your pups lol be careful with the kids and be very attentive because some of the jungle gym equipment is under construction like one slide that I noticed. You definitely don't want bruised knees and scraped elbows! My favorite was the pond lol I brought some bread for the ducks and enjoyed feeding them. Occasionally the turtles would flock around next to the ducks and rush for the food. There is even fishies in here and they're huge I was trying to feed a turtle and a fish came out of no where and swooped up on the turtles meal lol I was scared I was like woah what is that????? A little girl laughed at me and said a fish. It was so long and slimy looking I thought it was a snake hahahaha You can play frisbee golf here there's a little course here and there are even gazebos! I grew up in the South Bay so Polliwog was a frequently visited place for me. All I want to say is... Bring back the pirate ship! That thing was the best part of my childhood. So sad it had to go. Arrrrrrr They redid the park a few years back. They still have gazebos and the area for concerts. The shallow lake is beautiful with the ducks floating around. There's still swings and a jungle gym and all the usual park fixtures for kids, plus BBQs for the adults on the outskirts. The school is next door so there's some ball fields as well. All in all the park caters to all sorts of visitors, big and small. And in a gorgeous town like Manhattan Beach you know it's safe and well kept. read more

This is a great park. It has 3 different play areas. The one nearest to Manhattan Blvd is newer and my son really likes it. The little kid park is tiny and old, and so is the play area attached to it. I am not a fan of these two play areas. Polliwog has a nice lake with lots of birds. There is plenty of grassy area to run around and have a picnic. They limit dogs to the doggy walking trail. There is a tiny Botanical Garden attached to the park. How can a park with ducks, geese, fish and turtles not get five stars!?!? In a city where its trendy to build your family home right on top of your neighbor's family home, it's nice to have a little bit of grass and nature period to escape the concrete for a while. This place has everything. A separate area for the big kids and the small kids, a place for people to go and just chill in the shade or sun, and a lot of friends in the water to visit! Manhattan Beach city planners, well done. This is a wonderful park with a huge lake, various spaces for kids, families, tai chi-ers, yogis and runners alike. The lake is sizable and houses ducks which are enjoyable for the kiddos. On Sunday afternoons from July through the first week of September, Polliwog Park plays host to Concerts in the Park. The concerts go from 5-7 pm and consist of a variety of bands! My sister and I went to listen to the swing band, The Wise Guys. They were phenomenal and I sincerely hope they return next summer! There is plenty of parking around the neighborhood and tons of space around the park to station your lawn chairs, blankets and various picnic furniture. Be sure to make a meal of it- you'll be sorry if you leave the wine behind! The park allows some food vendors including CPK and snow cones. Oh yeah, and dancing is commended! read more
