Shrimp ceviche
Raymond M.

The carne asada plate was okay, the carne asada itself was missing that smoky char flavor. It was also my first time trying nopales, and they were a bit sour for my palate. The refried beans were decent. The rice was soft and fluffy. The tortillas were hot, fresh, and homemade. The shrimp ceviche was decent. It wasn't as lime-forward as I prefer, and the red bell peppers caught me off guard since I'm not used to having them in ceviche. I did enjoy the addition of mangoes, which added sweetness and tang that balanced the dish.

FISH TACOS

Had dinner at Casa Villa tonight. I've ordered food from them via DoorDash in the past, but tonight was my first time dining in the restaurant. We arrived around 5:30pm on a weeknight and the place was empty except for one couple. One of the first things I noticed was the music overhead was very loud. The waitress told us to sit wherever we wanted, so we grabbed a booth in the side room. Fortunately, the music was not as loud in there. I decided to try something I hadn't ordered previously and went with the chicken enchiladas with green sauce and rice. My companions ordered carne asada street tacos, chicken enmoladas, and a strawberry margarita. The food arrived quickly. My dish was nice-sized with three enchiladas, and while they were good, they were a bit too spicy for me. I could only eat about half of them. The rice was delicious and I would have liked more. Everyone else really enjoyed their food and kept commenting on how good it was. I asked if their food was spicy and they said no. They liked their strawberry margarita, too. I tried to order tres leche for dessert for us to share, but they were out. I've had it before at Casa Villa and it is scrumptious with lots of strawberries. The waitress then surprised us with a tiny piece she found in the fridge and three spoons. She didn't charge us for it. Overall it was a good dinner and I highly recommend Casa Villa. The restaurant is cozy with a warm, homey feeling and the service is excellent. I've had the fish tacos and quesabirria tacos in the past and they are delicious.

Warmly greeted, then pick your own table/booth. Each breakfast was fresh and hearty, including the guacamole. Fresh is important for my dish, otherwise, it can be a soggy mess, as I opted for the Rojo Chorizo Chilaquiles, Eggs Over Easy. I love me some chorizo, so I was clamoring for a little bit more, but the dish was incredibly delicious nonetheless. Their Mexican Coffee is unique and a must for me at breakfast time. The storefront and sign are on the smaller side, so look for the umbrellas out front.

Here is my Delish experience!!! We recently discovered this hidden gem in San Jose after our family friends recommended this spot. This restaurant serves amazing authentic Mexican food with great service and a pleasant ambience. The frescas and mocktails were especially flavorful and refreshing. I really liked their kids menu options and ordered pancakes with fresh strawberries along with a side of fries. It may seem like a small detail but we absolutely loved the fries, they were perfectly crispy and not thin or soggy. Coming to the food, our favorite part was the molcajete which is a massive platter with multiple items and very filling, definitely worth the price. The spicy sauce that comes with the platter is incredibly delicious and adds so much flavor. For those with a smaller appetite, they also offer smaller portion options like the pollo quesadilla which did not disappoint at all. Overall this has become our new favorite spot every time we visit the Bay Area, an authentic Mexican restaurant with great food, great service and a welcoming experience.

First time to this restaurant. I had a margarita and Birrira tacos, my partner had chicken enchiladas. Overall food was delicious. My cocktail was great! Service was great, very attentive. We will come back here again.

I'm not sure why this restaurant has high rating. Service was just okay but was really slow. Food is not good and there's barely any meat. Pina colada wasn't great either.

Casa Villa is a small Mexican restaurant in a willow glen strip mall. They are expanding soon but for now they have less than 10 tables. The facility itself is in decent condition, well decorated and about as clean as you'd expect. The service is really friendly and the prices seem reasonable. We got the molcajete to share. It's pretty big and served very hot in a volcano rock pot. There were generous amounts of beef, chicken and very flavorful sausage. It all seemed fresh and well cooked. But it was lacking something in flavor as most of the ingredients seemed sliced and basically boiled. It needs more seasoning or something to elevate the flavor. The tortillas were excellent.

Food was really good! For drinks I had an agua fresca de jamaica and you can tell it was authentic Service was great! Very friendly and quick service! Mix drinks were really good as well!

CHILAQUILES
Molly M.

Great selection of food, we loved our chilaquiles with chorizo and eggs. The potatoes, eggs, and meat were cooked to absolute perfection. My friend loved the cafe de olla, I enjoyed the juice. The music and service was perfect for the ambiance. Was only visiting the area but would love to go back one day!

OK.. have a new favorite spot. The food was amazing, fresh and beautiful. Tony was our waiter and he was so kind and attentive. This place deserves all its flowers. Will be coming back soon.

Quisabirria tacos
Cherise G.

We ordered the quesabirria tacos, flautas, and chicken enchiladas with verde sauce. Everything was excellent! Slight hiccup with one of the orders having sour cream after requesting no sour cream. But the customer service was great, they fixed the ordered immediately with no delay. Very quick service and very accommodating. Everything we ate we would definitely order again.

Sunil R.

Add this along with Milagro as our two favorite Mexican spots in the area. The tortillas are handmade, the service is warm and friendly and the food is delicious and well presented. I am a fan!

SHRIMP EMPANADAS

I ordered the shrimp empanadas . So, so, delicious no skimping on the shrimp , didn't taste like it was sitting in grease...very, very, good! And the jicama/cucumber salad was so refreshing

The music was really loud and I couldn't hear the conversation of the person with me so the Asian bartender helped us turn down the music a little. It wasn't until mid evening that I realized there was another bar in the back. The bartender told us the cocktails at Alter Ego were more fancy. Definitely instagramworthy! Tried two of the cocktails at Alter Ego. Overall, both have different vibes. Alter Ego is good for a more intimate dark setting date vibe. Service was pretty good at Still OG! The Asian bartender checked in several times and was really nice as well as provided some recommendations on which happy hour specials were most popular which helps since I'm indecisive. The back does seem like a more classy environment and I'd choose this setting over a dive bar any day. The music at still OG that they were playing at the time wasn't my cup of tea, but I'm sure they mix it up from time to time. I would love to hear some oldies!

All cocktails are on tap, which actually ended up being great because I was between a few of them and the bartender was able to give me samples of them. We also ended up getting an order of the Chicken skewers, which were super tender and juicy. We were too late on our visit, but they do have a daily happy hour that includes some of the skewers and fries, as well as some drinks and shots. Service was super friendly and vibes and music were great! Cocktails, weren't the best since they were on tap, but still good enough! I would absolutely come back here for a drink and snack though!

Parking is what you'd expect for downtown - either paid street parking or a nearby garage. The atmosphere is stylish and upscale, making it a great spot for a special night out. We ordered the mussels, flatbread, Brussels sprouts, and lobster noodles, and every dish was a hit. The mussels were definitely the standout - the sauce was so flavorful and unforgettable that we were tempted to ask for extra bread just to soak it all up. We also really enjoyed the cocktails. To top it all off, we were surprised with complimentary caviar cones from the restaurant, which was such a nice touch. Overall, it's a fantastic spot for celebrating with friends or enjoying a date night. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu!

Drinks/cocktails were tasty and I generally liked all the drinks I tried They got two weird rules: 1) Everything must be ordered at the same time so that they can coursify your meal. Not a huge deal I guess but we wanted to order apps first since we were hungry and then take our time to do the entrees 2) if someone wants to do the prefixe meal, EVERYONE has to do it as well ‍... Kinda a pain and I personally don't feel it makes much sense as I wanted something not on the pre fixe menu Food: Bruschetta - so tasty. It's a flavor bomb with the cheese, honey, and mortadella. Def recommend Kofta- not bad. I dunno if the meatballs really went that well with the hummus as it's kind of a dryer dip but I get what they were trying to do. The bruschetta was much better imo Crudo- solid crudo. I've had better quality fish but it still fairly good. Nice dish if you don't want something too heavy and want a lil citrus Scallops- really good but really pricey. Is 2 for $24 . Loved the way it was prepped tho and the wasabi cream sauce. Oysters- also good but also pricey @ $4/oyster. If you hafta make a choice I liked the scallops better Octopus: cooked perfectly. Loved the sauces and flavors as well. This was a big hit at the table Chicken: nice grilled taste but ultimately overcooked and dry. Flavor was ok. Prob wouldn't get again nor recommend Ny strip: solid steak with nice char texture and flavors. Nothin crazy crazy but way better than the chicken Ocean trout: imo the best entree of the night. It was cooked perfectly and the skin had a perfect crisp/flakiness Lobster tagliatelle: pretty meh. I think the sauce on the pasta was a bit bland. There also was barely any lobster. I'd skip this Lemon pie: the best dessert. It sounds basic AF but it's really a deconstructed lemon pie using lemon meringue on top. Def creative and tasty. Loukoumades: despite being recommended we prob felt this was the least fav dessert. The dough balls were a bit stale instead of nice soft and fluffy Chocolate sundae: reminded me of a chocolate mojito. It was not bad and the mint created another dimension to the desert but ultimately just way too much chocolate. I think it could be better if there were scoops of different flavors instead of all choc Overall, most of the dishes were great and we generally had a good experience. Some dishes were meh but def felt the majority were winners. Wouldn't mind coming back for a special occasion or nice dinner again when the menu is refreshed

The staff is all smartly dressed; the bartender and bar back were both sweet and funny. I am a big advocate for trying new things every time I go to a restaurant, but it was so good I ordered the same thing the second time I went. Arancini is flavored with Japanese curry with creamy fontina in the center topped off with kimchi mayo. Holy f. These quite literally put the traditional Italian ones to shame (sorry not sorry). Next was the bucatini. It had tom yum butter, lime, basil- all the fix ins of what you want from tom yum flavors with the luxuriousness added from the butter. It was sinful.
