Rice Campero Rice
Elaine M.

Been seeing Pollo Campero all over the interwebs (aka Instagram), so I've been bugging my husband about trying it. Finally dragged him into one--mainly because it was close to where he needed to run an errand. Hitting two birds with one stone... literally. The place was empty when we walked in, which surprised us. The inside was clean and kinda not well lit. We went big and ordered the 12-piece family meal with three sides, two chicken empanadas, and a fountain drink. Now, I don't condone this behavior, but my husband proceeded to taste-test every agua fresca flavor like he was at a Costco sample station. I can't take this man anywhere. He finally settled on mango, which unfortunately tasted a little watered down once the ice hit. The grilled chicken took about 13 minutes, which we didn't mind since the place wasn't exactly poppin'. While we waited, we went for the empanadas. One bite in--instant love. Now, I've had plenty of empanadas in my life, so I won't call it life-changing, but this one hit the spot. Soft bread, flavorful chicken, and just the right bite before we headed back. Back at work, we cracked open the rest of the meal like it was Christmas morning. One of our techs casually dropped that he'd been to the first Pollo Campero 20 years ago--umm, how did I not know this fun fact?! Anyway, onto the chicken: * Fried style: Crispy skin, juicy meat. Simple, solid, satisfying. * Grilled style: A little lime punch in the skin that was balanced and delicious. * Sides: Rice and coleslaw held their own, but the plantains stole the show. Not too sweet, not too tart--basically the perfect palate cleanser. Last little note: be kind to the people serving you. The woman helping us apologized for her English, but I understood her perfectly fine. She repeated my order, no issues. No need for her to feel bad--she did great. Would I go back? Absolutely. Next time, though, I'm keeping my husband far away from the agua fresca station.

Three Piece Meal

I have a Pollo Campero closer to me in Azusa but dined in at the Ontario location for lunch. I ordered 3 piece chicken meal with a side of plantains and mac & cheese and a dinner roll instead of tortillas. I forgot to ask for the roasted chicken so I guess the campero style is the default. Overall good food for the price. I ended up taking one piece and half the biscuit for takeout as the portion is generous. Would dine again, I'll try the roasted chicken next time.

This place is great. I love their chicken. Even better than KFC. I get the grilled and crispy legs and thighs and both are very tasty. If you have not been to one I suggest you try it. You will be amazed.

I was so pleased with the Pollo Campero Covina fried chicken that I bought earlier today evening... I had to check out their Ontario location. For this one, I decided to go through drive-thru. Unfortunately, the wait was longer than expected. It was late dinner time so I understand. I got up to the ordering speaker and asked for 8 piece chicken leg + thigh only, 1 regular order of yucca fries, 1 mango drink, and 1 jamaica drink. After placing my order, the line of cars started to swiftly move forward. Got up to the window, paid for my order, a few minutes later, got my order in a big bag which was a surprise. I didn't think my order was that big to get a big bag. Anyway, for some reason, the fried chicken here is a tad drier and not as moist as the fried chicken at the Covina location. The crispiness was still good. Yucca fries were good. Mango drink was very light in flavor almost like flavorless water. Jamaica drink was better in flavor, but still a tad light. I've had much stronger mango and jamaica drinks. Staff was okay at the drive-thru window. Prices are a tad high especially if you average the cost per chicken IMHO. Again, service was slow due to them being busy. Parking is a bit tight IMHO. Ambiance on the outside was okay. Btw, I found out this location barely opened a week or so ago. Maybe they are just working out the kinks right now. I probably may not be back to this location as it is somewhat out of my way unless I'm in the area and I'm craving for some Guatemalan fried chicken. Now that I know they have one location in Fontana, I'll have to tried that one as well. Good luck Pollo Campero Ontario!

Today is grand opening day. They had a table of branded promo stuff and a spin-a-wheel to win a prize. I spun and got a free combo meal coupon for the future. The parking lot was filled so I parked a block away. They also have a drive-thru as well, they did have staff outside to control the line since it was at the intersection. The inside was packed but there was staff to organize the line and wait area. I ordered their 3-piece meal with rice and beans with a dinner roll. ($12.99) They do have various sides such as yucca fries since they're based in Guatemala. They do have agua fresca alongside their soda fountain. I did not wait long and my food was packaged nicely to-go. The chicken was moist and hot, the breading was not too thick and the seasoning was not salty. It tasted different from other chicken places such as Kfc, Juan Pollo, or El Pollo loco, it was good. The seasoning made the breading darker but it was not burnt and it was cooked throughly. The rice and beans sides were good. The beans had a good seasoning, the rice had bits of roasted corn mixed in. I also got a chocolate chip cookie ($1.80), it was ok, more on the crunchy side. The staff was nice, Josh explained the menu well. They have an app.

One packet of ketchup for this container of fries

Been wanting to try one of these places and finally was able to, because there was a location, close to where I was working. I ordered a 2-piece dark, with fries and got a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. The chicken had a different type of seasoning taste to it, I can't quite grasp the taste. The menu read Yukon Steak Fries and the fries clearly aren't steak fries. I was only given one packet of ketchup for my fries. The cashier was too busy texting on his phone and kept looking at me, to see if I was watching him. Yeap, I surely am!! Especially since you have my credit card in your hands. Being on your phone with my credit card present, I have no I idea what you're doing, so I'm watching your every move. Needless to say, I've satisfied my curiosity, by trying this place for the first and last time.

Four piece meal only leg and thigh. Not worth it get it how it should be, wing and breast, more chicken same Price.

Went here the first time for done in, the service was good, food was good as well but a little pricey. Had the four piece combo only leg and thigh half crispy and half grilled. I liked the grilled better so flavorful, the crispy was good but greasy. The fries was greasy they served them as soon as they were done, even rice looked a little greasy. Then ordered a 12 piece for the familia only chicken, nobody liked it, my little brother and mom and dad. They said it was a little raw, and yes I looked at the chicken and it looked a tad bit pinkish, both grilled and crispy. They have potential, just need to cook the chicken a little more and rest the fried food a littlek longer before serving. My family grilled the left over chicken and made guraches and was good.

Service was great but yikes...what happened to the food? It doesn't taste anything like Pollo Campero. I thought I was at Church's for a minute... but church's chicken isn't even this oily.

We did drive through, the workers where super helpful, we order the 3 piece meal. The food was delicious and fresh. The restaurant is new and super clean outside. Here is a pick of the meal we order

We were excited anticipating the opening of Pollo Campero and we were not disappointed! The chicken was flavorful, moist, crispy and HOT. I hate when my food is cold so that's a plus for me. The empanada was delicious! Flaky and juicy The Mac and cheese was cheesy and creamy. Truly appreciate the food being nice and hot upon receipt. My only complaint is the drive through and parking. The drive through window is so close to the exit that when they ask you to pull to the side, it's pretty difficult to back up and park especially when there are multiple cars that they ask to pull to the side. When I attempted to leave, cars were blocking the exit waiting for their food. I recommend that is looked into as it is a huge inconvenience and possible hazard. Otherwise, I highly recommend trying Pollo Campero!

3 piece 2 sides Diner but I add my wife's other 2 sides and made a feast

Too overpriced for the food quality. Chicken too salty and it doesn't feel/taste fresh. You'd better be at Church's or Popeyes than this.

Our waitress completely ignored us for the duration of our meal. Not once did she check on our table, ask if we needed anything, offer refills, or make any effort whatsoever to provide even the most basic level of service. What made it even more insulting was watching her repeatedly check on every other table around us while walking past us over and over again. We were seated right by the entrance, so there is no chance she somehow forgot we were there. After finishing our meal, we sat waiting for an unreasonable amount of time while continuing to be ignored. Eventually, we had to get up and ask for our check ourselves because apparently that was too much to expect. At that point, it was obvious that nobody working there cared whether we had a good experience or not. I've worked in customer service and understand that places get busy, but this wasn't a matter of being busy, it was a matter of not caring. We were treated as if we didn't exist. If this is the standard of service this restaurant accepts, there are plenty of other places that deserve your money far more than this one. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this place to anyone expecting even the bare minimum level of customer service. Tacos were good, ill give them that.

The chicken was tender and well seasoned with soy without being too salty. There was a fair amount of onions and tomatoes which were stir-fried along with the meat. The fries were freshly made with a light crispy exterior and creamy interior to soak up the saltado sauce. The aji verde salsa was on the spicy side but tasted good as an accompaniment to the dish. There was plenty of sauce from the stir fry for the extra portion of rice I ordered. I plan on ordering the Lomo Saltado next time. The staff were polite and efficient.
