Underwhelming. One of our orders took forever to come out, and the wrong thing was offered multiple times. Greasy fried items. No sauce on the Original Chicken Sandwich - just deflated bread, the chicken, and some very sad flavorless pickles. Tables were sticky. Positives: Salad lettuce seemed nice, fresh, and crispy; chicken cooked all the way through; everyone was nice; lighting was bright and friendly. I went to the side & asked if my pick up order was ready and where i should stand, they give me my bag and tell me it's ready but i have to go all the way to the back of the line to pay for it. PLEASE ALWAYS CHECK YOUR ORDER. On Sunday, 6/30/24 at around 9:30 I went in to buy a 3 piece meal with tortillas and rice with coleslaw as my sides. I got a broken wing, a mini leg and a regular sized leg with no thigh...This is very unfair and by far so trifling. They literally served me scraps!!! Was hesitant to order due to the yelp rating. So glad we ordered as everything was delicious and beyond expectations. We ordered through yelp and haf it delivered. Everything arrived in a timely fashion and everything was hot. We ordered a mix of fried and roasted chicken. Both were cooked to perfection, the chicken was really juicy. Both were so good we couldn't decide which we liked more. We had 3 sides, mashed potatoes, corn salad, and rice. The sides were also delicious but I would recommend fetting an extra side of each as the side portions are a little small that come with the 12 piece meal. They get 3 stars. I don't know if I am exaggerating, but when you put curbside they should bring it outside. Today I placed my order for 10am curbside. I went with my 4 month old baby. It was sprinkling outside. So I go and put I am here 10:05. I am waiting until 10:20am. So I just had to inside the restaurant. I told the cashier who was just standing there because they were not even busy. And she just tells me "i know". What kind of service is that? 3.5 stars. The food itself is a mixture of things. I love the chicken and its flavor. However, the sides and the tortillas are not so great. The mashed potatoes are not all that tasty, the Cole slaw is prob the best side they have yet still needs something, their beans with pork tastes like something on the school cafeteria menu and their tortillas are so stale that even heating them up, they feel like card board. Their fresh drinks and soft drinks are pretty good, I'll admit. The location is great with plenty of parking and 15 minute curbside parking right in the front. Perfect for people who order online. The service is good. Nothing extremely generous nor bad in my opinion so no complaints there. Would I go again? Definitely but for their chicken mostly. I came here for lunch and the staff is very friendly and the restaurant was clean. I decided to get the chicken bowl which was very flavorful. The chicken was tender and moist with a nice combo of vegetable and rice. I would recognize this place for a casual meal. read more

Had this chicken this weekend. The flavored for this style of fry or grille chicken is very good super good I would say. I had both the fry and grille but my grille chicken was cold. I still ate it and found the flavored to be super good. I can bet that warm or hot it would have been awesome. The downside of this is peaces are very small, they can not be compare to Kentucky. But maybe thats why its very good in flavored. For this location cleanliness was on the poor side to my standards. I found a few tables very dirty when I came in. My family and I ate and left the same tables where still the same dirty after about .45 minutes. I would say try this chicken. With better management I would easy give this location a perfect 5. read more

the worst thing about this experience to me [& it was my first time at this location] was there was a beggar in the dining room & no employee did anything. he came in by himself & was carrying a walmart bag. the only reason i mention this is there are NO walmarts anywhere near this location. as you come into this location from the front you go straight ahead to order food, turn right to use the restrooms & the dining room is to the left [where there is another exit]. he came in the front & immediatly turned left to harrass customers for money by just going up to the tables of people trying to enjoy their meal. this is not acceptable. i doubt he needed the money. FRONT counter - watch people come in. SEE where they go, WATCH what they do, the chicken sandwitch was small, with only pickles on it. it did not look like the picture. the chicken patty was fine. the jamaica drink was perfect & it wasn't crazy sweet. the mango drink tasted watered down & a NO. there's a reason this place only gets 2 1/2 stars, plus it's expensive. i know all 'fast food' prices went up the past couple years but NOT worth it. read more

Simply put it this way, Pollo Campero's Fried Chicken has the flavor that tastes really delicious. We came here for a family meal to go for a Christmas gathering at my parents house, and thankfully this place was open on Christmas Day. You probably tried hand breaded Fried Chicken elsewhere. But Pollo Campero backs it up with its Latin spiced, citrusy flavor and tender juicy meats. To me eating the skin alone can be addicting, because of its light breaded tasty crust on the outside. Their flavor trickles down to the meat, and when you break it away from the bones, it easily comes off. That said, it's a well rounded fried chicken. There's a salsa bar that provides green and red sauces, onions, and jalapeños. Their fried chicken is tasty enough and there's really no need for the added salsa. Around $50 we got a 16pc. Combo mix that consists of 4 breast, 4 leg, 4 thighs and 4 wings. Included are family sizes of our choice: French fries, Campero Rice and Campero Beans. Also, you have a choice of tortillas or bread. The prices are in the high end for a small franchise chain. But when you think about it, there aren't many like that has fried chicken with the combination of hand breaded, and flavorful right down to the bones. This South Gate location is huge. Once inside there's plenty of booth and table seating and it's very spacious. So there shouldn't be problems dining in. I notice this chain has been around for years in the greater part of LA county. They don't have locations closer to OC. Being now a resident of Orange County, the drive here is long distance. I was first introduced to Pollo Campero when they use to have a branch in Long Beach. Overall, you'll be impressed with their fried chicken flavor that makes you wanting for more. read more

I told myself that their busy at 1:36pm in the afternoon, but come on now! It takes just three seconds to answer and say "welcome, can you hold please". I am giving them the benefit of the doubt I used the wrong number. I called what was on the yelp page (562) 667-00495 Mr. Manager if you are out there is this the right number?
