Absolute best chicken around with killer green salsa!!! Tortillas are a bit "soggy" like as a side but much better when you order the fajita tacos. The al pastor tacos are ok, but I have yet to find great al pastor in the DFW area. The fajita topped baked potato is very good but the real winner here is chicken. Had one of the best grilled chicken in the area. Away from India i was depressed not to find restaurants with grilled chicken, found this today, and very happy with the taste. Bought half grilled chicken combo, which came with beans curry, 5 tortillas and two types of sauces. Although i was not prepared to have that big meal, but with that taste i couldn't resist. I've been coming to Pollo Regio for years. I don't have any complaints about the food. I think their caldo de pollo and mole are delicious. The serving size is fair for the price, and the chips and salsa they have are also yummy. The reason i am giving them 2 stars is because i am fed up with the wait time at this location. It is the closest to my job , and i often find myself coming back because i love their chicken soup THAT MUCH. however, every time i come, whether it is at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., or 2 p.m. the same story repeats itself. i go trough the drive thru, and when i get to the window to pay and get my order, i am asked to go back while the food is ready. The issue here is that the point of a drive thru is to eliminate the extra time of waiting for your food as if you were ordering inside, as well as for convenience. How is it that every time i come, i order the simplest option " chicken soup" , and i am forced to go wait for FIFTEEN minutes. i am not exaggerating. i count the time considering it is my lunch time. I am pretty positive the chicken soup is made in a giant pot, and all that needs to be done is to be poured onto the Styrofoam cup. What angers me more is that while i park and wait, i see other random vehicles get their food as they wait at the window. There is clearly an issue with how the drive thru is being managed. I have complained about it numerous times and i always get a different answer. It is either, we are under staffed, we are too busy, their order was simpler to prepare , etc. At this point i am so unsatisfied with this issue i dont think ill be returning any longer. Horrible service! I would think because I am going through a drive through it would be fast and easy. I ordered my food and when I got to the window I pay for my food, than they ask me to go park across to wait for it. Other cars order after me and they park right next to me, after some time they got their food first when I had order before them. I literally WAITED 40mins!!! I had to get out of my car to ask what was going on and they ask to see my receipt, seriously did they lose my ticket that they don't even know what I got! They shouldn't be running a Drive Through if they Can't Run it! The wait was ridiculous and when I went inside I ask for my refund the manager on duty was very unprofessional did not even apologized for the long wait, he actually didn't even say anything just grab my card and said "this is your return sign". I had rubbernecked at this place a long time before I manned up and stopped and tried it. It was always on the opposite side of the road yet each time I drove by I was like GOT TO TRY THAT PLACE. It usually has smoke pouring out and smells like a cook out. Needless to say I stopped and the rest is history. I go to about three of these locations and I really love this place. Its the best grilled chicken in the metroplex for sure. You can get a whole chicken or half chicken..Well at least thats what I eat and holy crap its tasty. The chicken is always juicy. Never had any dry before. Perfectly seasoned and it tastes like its grilled over charcoal or some really well seasoned grill. I will bet anyone $1 they cant find better grilled chicken. Did I say its got great prices too?? They also make some really good hot sauces which can really compliment the yardbird. Each half bird comes with rice, beans, a whole grilled onion, tortillas and a half lime. Squeeze the lime on the yard bird and make a tortilla. Dare I say this bird is slap someones Momma good? The chicken here is always amazing!! For something different I deff recommend the baked potato with Carne Asada!!! You wont regret it! The ONLY reason why I will not give ot 5 stars is because the last few times we've been there my husband has ordered the Tacos Campechanos and they are very inconsistent with there meat portions. And the last time we came in, the meat we got was NOTHING like what we usually get. When we asked a staff member if the tacos we got were the campechanos he responded that they indeed we're... other than these inccidents Regios has never done me wrong! We prefer the smaller El Regio on Cooper Street. As we approached we wondered if they were open because this is the first time We've been to an El Reggio and the smoker was not smoking and wafting out that lovely smoked aroma. When we left the smoker was going and it smelled wonderful. The chicken on Cooper St seems to have more fresh flavor. We did enjoy the side bar offering of red onions and habenaros here at the Pioneer location. El Regio was not our lunch destination at first. We had driven down to Mansfield to go to The Chicago Corner only to find it is out of business. We know we like and can count on El Regio so we ate lunch here. My order of a half of a chicken, he got a sandwich, was enough for each of us to have a piece of chicken the next day. The rice is salty but flavorful. It tastes a lot like Rice A Roni. It is really tasty if you mix hot Rotel with it. We enjoyed some pleasant Hispanic music videos while we lunched. One of the employees dined with her husband and toddler while we were there and that added to the noise level. But it's fast food and a wonderful hamburger alternative. read more
