Rated one star because there is no zero rating. Placed order,waited over 30 minutes to get it. Two people ahead of me got their money back and left. The manager kept saying how busy they were yet there were only six people ahead of me. Very unorganized. Place was filthy and tables weren't cleaned. Bathroom was disgusting. I ordered the four piece chicken dinner, which I thought was $5.99 but was told that price was only after 4pm so the price would be $7.99( I think). I said ok because I wanted to try chicken. Wow first time Pollo Tropical disappointed me in a meal. The bun was hard when I went up to talk to the manager the cashier made a snide comment about "Some customer wants to complain" I handed it to her and said would you eat this??? She made a face and walked to get another The other meal was a Guava chicken wrap. We were tired of fast food and this place looked tropical and fun. We ordered quickly and I was even able to order a beer, not something I can do in Maryland. The food took awhile to come, maybe 10 minutes. The sauces from the sauce bar were delicious and the food was very tasty. The ribs I ordered were good but a bit tough, not fall off the bone. This place is a must visit!! Food is awesome and super cheap, got a plate for $7-8 bucks and was more than full. The employees are nice and bring the food to your table, they have beers for 2.50 which you can't beat that and the vibe is cool. Came here well over an hour before closing, and was told they had NO CHICKEN and then wait was 30 minutes. Fine, we said we would wait because we were hungry. Then we proceed to say we want the side of white rice with the family meal, and they tell us "we are out of white rice." So you're telling me that a place whose name literally says chicken has NO chicken and on top of that no rice? I'm convinced it's because the kitchen gets lazy and stops cooking food. I have NEVER seen such horrible staff before. I LOVE pollo tropical but I will definitely not be returning to this location. We were greeted by Becky. Which wasn't to pleasant to begin with, she was dry...barely spoke any words. She responded with one word answers, just not a friendly person. The place was packed so I guess you can expect to wait 30-35 min for 3 platters. We had ordered 2 sides of sweet plantains paid for it, when we received our food we were told there wasn't anymore plantains and then walked away. Me and my husband love your food, it's cheap and fast. So we thought it would take us longer than 10 minutes to get some pollo bites and 1/4 chicken, but we ended up late for Disney Fireworks because we had to wait over 30 minutes for our order, like really? So i was on my way home when i saw this place pollo tropical.I was gonna go and eat out with my brother,sister,and parents.When we got there the place smelt horrible when we all walked in.What i ordered was some chicken and rice.The chicken tasted horrible and was cold with the rice.My dad had a sprite to drink and it had a spider in it.None of us liked the food with it.The soda was ok but the food was just horrible.I would not go there again sorry. read more

Winner winner Pollo Chicken dinner! Wow- so good! Got the chicken and ribs and it was a generous portion of meat and two sides. The ribs had a great flavor and the chicken was juicy and delish. The saucing bar-- the waffle fry were only the vehicle to slurp the sauce. The staff were very nice and efficient and the place is kid friendly. Lots of local families eating together. Among the three of his we ordered ribs, roast pork, grilled chicken, pollo bites, corn casserole, black beans, red beans, yellow rice with vegetables, macaroni & cheese, fried yuca, cheesecake and key lime pie. Very unstaffed. I walked in, there was a very long line (in which I joined) and the line didn't move for 10 minutes!! At least a dozen people standing waiting for their order, and no where to sit. Their drive-thru was closed, probably because they wouldn't be able to hand the amount of orders. 2 people in the kitchen, 1 in the register. Just to let you know, this is the worst experience ever. I applied to a job posting as a GM of one the restaurants in Kendall area, I went to the process wish takes for ever and there is no communication on what is the next step in the process and you have call and text the person in charge of hiring you ( Amanda ), they check my back ground and credit and everything was okay, had an interview with DM and DO and proceed to the next step wish was what they call ( OJE ) on the job experience that it was schedule to be on the 3rd and 4th of July, I went and did that on both days for 8 hrs a day ( they pay $ 9 per hour ) on those 2 days wish is fine but they took a couple of weeks to pay that when they pay every Friday, so I call the recruiter to ask for the pay and she told me it was a mistake and that she will corrected and get paid the following Friday, I waited 2 weeks more and Amanda contacted me to schedule another OJE because the GM was not there on my first day and on the second day she was in a hurry because she was going on vacation so I had to go to another day of OJE when they schedule me wrong for that first OJE but I agree of course because I needed the job so went on July 18th from 9 am to 3 pm and again they schedule me wrong and send me to wrong Pollo Tropical and when I got there a manager of that store told me that she did not know anything about it and she called the DM of that area ( Maribel ) and she said send him to were I am at wish it was not far from that location, she was the person I was meeting with but she change the location with out letting me know, but finally met with this lady that barely speaks English did my OJE and went home, 4 days later the recruiter from Pollo Tropical call me and told that they will like to proceed with the hiring process but to my surprise they offer me the assistant manager position with a lot less pay. I said I was not interested when I was in the process for 1 and a half month and they could not say that before and I wouldn't waste my time. Now for that last 6 hrs I worked on July 18th wish is only $54 I did not got paid till today and when you call the recruiter she says I do not know anything about it, I called HR and they said they have nothing to do with it, I called Payroll and they said they have nothing to do with it and that should be the recruiter, I call her back and she told me to call Maribel the DM, I call and text her and she said I will pass this info to payroll and till today I am still waiting. How sad it is to apply to a company wish you believe is great because they have over 100 restaurants but then you find out they close so may and when the management of the company is horrible and disrespectful. I just wanted to share this with you guys. I have more than 20 years in management experience and running restaurants that sale more than 7 millions a year, and I never had such a bad experience. read more

I love Pollo Tropical, but my boyfriend and I had the WORST experience at this Pollo. First of all, they forgot our orders (which the assistant manager Luis took it), and then when I went to address it after waiting for 30 minutes, he stated that they were just waiting for the chicken to cook. Meanwhile I witness him telling one of the cooks behind it to hurry up and make an order for us. He was not apologetic at all about it and just brush it off. He brought our food back and one of the chickens were filled with feathers so we had to ask him to bring out another one because it looked so gross. I guess he realized he felt bad afterwards and came over to ask us if we wanted any free desserts about halfway through our meal. A simple apology would've been more than enough when I first went up there to address our food instead of trying to bribe us with a dessert. Oh and the bathroom was nasty. The service was absolutely crap with the snobby cashiers. The food is moderately priced for a fast food place. The food itself, well, mixed review. The chicken skewers were amazing and definitely recommend. The rice was cold, and black beans tasted like the can they came out of. So to begin with, I totally understand when it's closing time and a restaurant is low on certain ingredients/menu items/etc. This restaurant is listed to close at 12am. My family comes to the drive thru at 10:54pm. While we're ordering what we hoped we'd be able to eat at any Pollo, the woman taking our order continues to say that they didn't have multiple menu items available, which okay fine it's almost closing. Apparently if you visit this Pollo an hour before closing, there will be "no black beans" "no chicken other than the bites" and "no drinks" like ?????????? But okay, our family orders whatever they have available and make it work. When we pull up to pay, the woman let's us know it'll be 3 minutes before we receive our order and to pull up in a parking spot so she can bring it right out. Cool, we can do. We pay for our order. While paying, we can see inside and notice 4 workers gathered in the kitchen gossiping/eating shit/doing whatever else other than cooking/preparing an order. Literally only lady working is the one who took our order and I salute her for that. So again, we pay, time stamp on our receipt says 11:00pm exactly (it took 6 minutes just to order because of the back and forth of what they have available and what they don't), and we pull up to wait for our food to be brought out. Fast forward 12 minutes later, after we see in our rear view the same scene where the majority of the employees currently on the clock are gossiping rather than handling our order, I decide to walk in. Granted, I walked in guns blazing. Asked two employees whether they know how to do anything other than eat shit on the clock. My bad. But as I walk up to the counter, the same lady who took our order is the only one doing things again. Props to her. I ask another woman why it's taking so long, say some choice words about lazy employees directed at all the others sitting around, and stand there for my order. The two employees from the corner walk up, one asks how she can help me, I say "I've been sitting in the spot for over 10 minutes, I was told it'd take 3 minutes." Now here's where my salute to the employee who took our order gets rescinded. The woman in Spanish tells her coworker that I'm lying and continues to try to make me look bad in Spanish, even throwing in a low mutter (in Spanish) that sounded very much like she was calling me a bitch. I look straight up Indian, so I get why she wouldn't expect me to understand her. Little does she know, I understand every word, and I definitely let her know that. She stops in her tracks, finally gives me my order, and gives me a sarcastic enjoy to top it all off (in Spanish). As I walk away, employees join her mutters of choice words about me. Fast forward again to us at home, getting ready to eat our less than impressive meal already...they messed up our order. One meal specifically asked for no corn, there was corn on it. Another, which asked for corn, had 5 little pieces of corn in the bowl. The chicken was dry to the point where we couldn't tell the difference between the breading and chicken itself. So, on top of the mediocre service, the quality of food at this Pollo location is just as shitty. Frankly, the service at this Pollo is an incident I would never expect from a location so close to the main road. I'm from Miami, and I thought we had rude people serving us, but I have never had this sort of experience at a Pollo down home. So, Orlando Pollo on Vineland, get it together and fire those lazy ass employees who think an hour before closing means it's time to stop working. It doesn't matter what job you have, if there's something that needs to be done in a timely manner, all hands need to be on deck. Additionally, that job should be done properly, especially for something that took that long. No excuses. read more
