Why oh why does the cashier NOT speak English??? We couldn't get sweet plantains because...he couldn't figure out what a plantain was!!! Coke machine was out of carbonation. This was never fixed. Cashier couldn't understand our drink order or the fact that we needed napkins and silverware as there was a HUGE liquid spill that required a lot of clean up. One employee suggested I walk through the clean up process when another told her no...she could get it for me as it wasn't safe. When I got a refill of coke I ended up with Coke Zero...eww nasty. I was disappointed at this pollo tropical. My first encounter with a pollo tropical chain was in south beach and I loved it for many reasons. This orlando location off Vineland just wasn't up to par. My first reason for taking off a couple of stars was when I ordered the 1/4 chicken and ribs meal I was immediately told that they ran out of white meat and only had dark meat available. I can understand if we came in during busy lunch or rush hour but we we're there at 6pm with three other groups of customers (it was practically empty). This doesn't end there, five minutes into settling down in a booth waiting for our food, a lady came by and told us they were also out of mac &a cheese sides we ordered. Again, how can you be out of food when the place is practically empty? Another reason I took of a star is the food itself. The presentation was nothing like the SoBe location. The food looked dry and it tasted dry. In all honestly, it looked like they gave us the last pieces of chicken and ribs they had sitting there since lunch time. Pollo Tropical really needs to look at this particular restaurant at the mall on Pines Blvd, or maybe it is a problem with the chain. I can see that all the most recent reviews have been negative with titles like: "Worst in the Area," "Great Food, Horrible Service," and "Look at the Reviews on other Sites - Horrible Place!!" Well tonight was no different. I got into the drive-thu line 20 minutes before closing with maybe 5 cars in front of me. Thirty-five minutes later, after being stuck in line, the drive-thru attendant tells me they are closed. Great service and way to treat a former customer. I will never return and you can bet I will provide as much negative press as I can. I work with well over 2000 people, and there is nothing better than "word-of-mouth." read more

Every time I come to this location they get my order wrong. Today when I pulled up to the drive-thru nobody said "Hello" or anything they just yelled through the mic "What do you want?" I told them I would like a chicken tropichop and was cut off when I went to continue placing my order by some woman that said "Hold on." I sat there for a minute or two and someone else came on and said "What do you want?" again. I repeated my order (Chicken tropichop with brown rice, black beans and corn) She entered it in the screen as pork tropichop with brown rice, black beans and no corn. I asked her to correct it and she did then finished with "Is it all correct on the screen now?" I said yes because it was. When I got to my destination after I got my food, I was given pork and no corn. This is the last time I will go here. I've been way too patient to pay for rude customer service and wrong orders. P.S. One of the slowest fast causal restaurant experiences ever. I was a professional chef in the military and private industy for 16 years so I have some insight. Fire everyone at this store because they move like snails in molasses. It takes forever to get in and order food and then forever to get it. Spanish speaking guests are treated warmly and the cashier chatterboxes away to spanish guests but seems to treat others with a resigned indifference, racist and classist much? Restaurants filthy behind the counter and in the seating area and nasty is an understatement . Can't even get a napkin without asking the counter staff. Beer piss warm. Obviously this is just owned by some rich franchisees that just need the money and have have no passion for a good experience or customers or food. Obvious the staff is miserable and overworked and short staffed for owners sake. Bathrooms filthy and out of all paper products. Understaffed cheap ass owner needs to staff better and pay better to justify prices and motivate employees. This place use to be great sadly straight down the crapper and its obvious they don't care and depend on transient Orlando tourist so that don't care cause chances are you ll never be back. Owner should be publicly flogged. Bet he wears a Rolex and drives a Benz but knows next to nothing about passion for food and enjoys short staffing restaurant for his lousy bottom line. family was in town for one week visiting disney world. decided to try different restaurants in the area on each night. Pollo Tropical set the bar for the week. the chicken was far and away better then any pollo loco we have here in orange county california. the white cilantro garlic sauce was an immediate favorite. yucca and platano frito rounded out the meal nicely. i think i also ordered mac and cheese, but dont remember since i didnt get any.., service was quick and food was warm enough... however, about 5-7 minutes after i ordered there was a rush of people, but you cant do anything about that, either its busy or its not... i would definitely recommend this location to anyone staying at the marriott village on vineland. its behind the property, and you may or may not have to jaywalk, but whateves... its totally worth the walk, or drive if you have a car... read more

I went to this pollo tropical location on Saturday night . April 29 2017 at 1020pm my family and I enter the store had about 14 people in front of me when I got to the counter to order at about 1100pm the cashier told everybody that was in the line that they had no more chicken cause they were about to close that we could get what was left that it was only ribs. They had one employee putting the chairs up on the tables in the dining room like if they were closed. But they close at midnight and it was only 1100pm . The manager said that there was nothing she could do for us . I thought that if a restaurant closes at midnight it would sell chicken up to closing time not an hour before. Never going to any pollo tropical ever again don't waste your time going especially to this location. I would like to give it no stars but the system won't let me. read more

Finally! A Pollo Tropical nearby. This is a Hispanic fast food chain that's really popular in Puerto Rico and Miami in case you aren't aware about the concept. Fast food but this is no Chipotle or Taco Bell. Food is prepared fresh, chicken is tasty served steamy hot, salads are fresh and we'll prepared, the ribs, oh the ribs, from a pollo place? I was skeptical at first... but oh my, the ribs are very good, tender and tasty served fresh from the grill. The guava bbq sauce provides it the extra nudge of tropical flavor. The one located on Okeechobee Blvd next to Spencer Dr - this restaurant needs a management overhaul - i have never seen such bad management - employees were talking to each other - leaning against the food counters - people were waiting in line (2 lines) & the drive thru was all around the place - if you use the drive thru here - the wait is normally 30-40 minutes & they get your order wrong. Order online as they are pushing that feature - i was the only one waiting under the order online pckup sign - everybody looked at me - but no one after 8 min acknowledged me - i had to interrupt 1 of the workers to get my order sitting there God knows how long - well it was cold & 1/2 the container was filled with rice - couple of pieces of chicken & alot of tomatoes is 4 pieces - i asked the manager on duty (older spanish lady) if my order looked right to her - i said there is barely any rice in there - she said yes & walked away from me to continue to rearrange the drinks in the ice in the front counter between the cashiers - while the restaurant is so crazy busy instead of pushing orders out - she was worried if the drinks were in line in the ice. while you could hear people complaining in line & some walked out. The restaurant was a mess - looking at the stations for food prep was a mess - everybody working was just nonchalantly taking their time as slow as possible to get the orders out. This is not the first time - its everytime. So be prepared. I got so frustrated i just walked out. I would eat here more since i love the food - but its too much stress & aggravation. read more

I've been driving past this place for months, but finally decided to go after I saw an sign for their grilled pineapple shrimp salad. It looked really good from the picture and lured me in. And so... that was why I found myself at the drive through waiting patiently to order. When it was finally my turn, of course I picked out the salad that I had been eyeing. I also picked out flan. The food looked good in appearance and it tasted just as good! Normally I really do not enjoy eating shrimp (real funny how I ordered the shrimp salad eh?), but this shrimp was delicious! It was cooked to perfection - not overcooked or raw. The mango vinaigrette was one of a kind! The flan was just as delicious, not too sweet or tasteless. It was a rough day, but this meal here made it so much better. I now have plans with my friend to come here again... hopefully I won't be disappointed.
