I used to overly excitedly visit this chain when they were in GA so I was excited to be back in the land of the Tropical Chicken. My first night here I ordered doordash. The family order was a whole grilled chicken, plantains, rice, black beans, and rolls. The food was Luke warm, which was to be expected with DD. What made matters worse, the hotel room didn't even have a microwave. Food was kind of mid but it was appreciated. Such a bad experience, I had to leave a review. First, the establishment was messy. The dining area needed cleaning and the bathrooms were so nasty I decided to just hold-it until I returned to my room. Second, the service was incredibly slow. We waited almost 30 minutes for simple menu items; and not one employee had decent customer service skills. Also, the workers yelled out the order numbers in Spanish only. Don't assume everyone knows Spanish. Third, my salad was horribly prepared. I received a tiny drizzle of dressing (none on the side), so the salad was slightly dry. The menu board has some interesting choices: 1/4 chicken combos, 1/2 chicken combos, steak combos and more importantly, wings. Man, I love wings. The wings being made at Pollo Tropical have a crispy skin and have a nice tropical marinade. Rock star wings! There is a sauce bar with different sauces: salsa, grilled pineapple rum, bbq as well guava bbq?? Soooooo good! I did the ebony/ivory choice of black beans and white rice along with roasted chicken. The line was literally to the door and I waited because I was CRAVING it. When I got to the front of the line I put on my order and asked for a mango slush she told me they were out. I asked for the iced version of it the Mango lemonade...she proceeded to tell me there was no mango. While I'm waiting for my order I hear someone order a mango lemonade and she served them one. I was upset but didn't even say anything to not cause a scene. They didn't have any sauces that are advertised, they don't have hot sauce, and they have horrible customer service. The employees seemed miserable and where hiding in the back most of the time. The cheesy yuca bites were cold and hard, thw fries were cold, the bread was stale, my chicken was dry, and I didn't even have any sauce to dip it in...not a happy camper. I didn't know they had avocado and once I realized I asked to place an order and they wouldn't sell me avocado alone told me I had to get another meal and add it on top lol they are resiculous. Pollo tropical is supposed to be good but don't go to this location. The food was a 3/10 at best. Everything seemed messy inside. There is no service, the girl at the register didn't know what she was doing and wasn't being helped. I could tell she'd make a great worker if they trained her instead of socializing in the back. One guy kept making comments to guest and even objectified a woman guest in his remarks. When I asked to speak to the manager to discuss this behavior I was told "he has problems" and the manager told me "I don't work here". Well if you're reading this, you were working there at the moment and having problems doesn't justify disrespecting guest. They had 5 employees working and couldn't do a single thing right. Orders came out wrong, and I mean every order essentially. They closed the drive through because they didn't want to operate it. Being vegan is easy here! There is a "v" symbol to indicate vegetarian, leaf means vegan. Easy to read menu. We both got a Create Your Own TropiChop bowl. You can choose what base you want (White Rice, Brown Rice, Lettuce, Yellow Rice & Veggies, 1/2 Rice & 1/2 Lettuce) and we did yellow. For protein, we stuck with the "vegetarian" option. Which just meant no meat. Top it (with as many as you like) Black Beans, Tomatoes, Peppers, Sautéed Onions. I did it all EXCEPT for corn bc it's not vegan. They have lots of sauces to choose from. Ordered food to be delivered by Uber Eats. The Delivery was perfect. The food, however was not! I ordered a regular tropichop with yellow rice and got a very very small portion of rice. I ordered it with red beans and got black beans. I asked for Pineapple Rum sauce and Curry Mustard and got neither sauces! According to the menu, the diet cokes I ordered would be cans. They were not. I specifically ordered 2, 1 for with my meal and 1 for later because I'm not feeling well and did not want to have to go out later. I got fountain drinks in cups, instead of cans, which was fine for the first one, but the second one will be flat and watered down from the ice when I go to drink that one.
