I don't know if these reviews ever make it to higher up's for employee recognition but i give Marcel at store 10083 a 5 star "above and beyond" review. With only one other employee, he operated with composure and professionalism. At the busiest location in Pinellas County, Florida that's saying a lot. I typically use DoorDash for all my orders but it was down last night so I decided to swing by the restaurant location to get my food in person. Plus it's easier to get the sauces you want when you're in person. Ordering through the app I rarely get the dipping sauces and if you've ever ate at Pollo you know the sauces are where the magic happens so not getting them sometimes is a heartbreak. Once to the ordering speaker I learn why DoorDash was down, because it's just two of them in there grinding it out trying to keep a 6-8 people thing operating with only 2 people. With all the priorities there wasn't enough time to make the individual dipping sauce cups so they weren't available. Seeing how numbed I was, Marcel went clear around the counter with some scissors it looked like, and as he handed out order through the window said he had in fact put some of the Mango sauce (my favorite) in the bag also. My man! With all the shortages of employees in the work force these days, especially the restaurant business, it says something when an employee treats you like your important and take the time to look out for you. That man deserves a raise. I'm sure his hourly rate doesn't align with the amount of effort and energy he's putting into that job and it should. read more

Pollo Tropical has a unique mixture of fast food and set-down dining. The dining room is good size and your experience begins with going through a small switchback queue to place your order. The menu is above the counter and offers menu items like: the Tropichop (like a rice bowl), chicken meals, soup, salad, and family meals. All with a Spanish style mixture including yellow rice and beans. Once you place your order you are given a number on a stand that ensures your order will find you. Then it is off to the condiments bar which has items like: onions, jalapeno, hot and mild salsa, etc. I had a chicken Tropichop with brown rice and corn then topped it with onions and a mixture of the hot and mild salsa. The chicken is very flavorfully tender with a hint of smokey grilled almost mesquite taste and cut into small mouth size pieces. The brown rice and corn were savory additions providing a uniqueness from the smooth texture of the rice combined with the sweetness of the corn. This was further topped off with the spicy succulent combination of the mild and hot salsa combined. A great combination! The location was clean and the tables were cleared quickly. This seemed to be in part due to that they provide table service when bringing your food. You are only responsible for getting your drink. This type of table service brings the staff into the dining room frequently that allows for monitoring and prompt table bussing. One of the best things on the menu was their family menu. It seemed like you could order a family meal for under $30 that would feed four. Pollo Tropical also offers "Pollo Rewards" that with signing up with your email and telephone number they will provide you with coupons and or deals. Unfortunately the Rewards program is also one of those refer a friend program. Not necessarily my favorite things (chain-mail and such). I was actually pretty impressed with this place. My wife and I came in after a long day of exploring parks not really knowing what to expect. The prices were reasonable ($5 - $8 / person) and the staff was very friendly. The restaurant as a whole was very clean and had a fun tropical music track playing. The menu was easy to understand, and there was a free salsa bar with lots of sauce options. This was no El Pollo Loco (a staple on the west coast), but it will be in our quick meal rotation! read more

I just moved to the area in December and Pollo Tropical is one of my favorite spots to grab dinner. Unfortunately I will have to get over that because this location is the worst one I've ever seen. The customer service is horrible. I have given them many chances, about 5, and every single time they get my order completely wrong or they forget items. This is my second time coming here in 2 years. The first time was great, so now I'm back. When we first walked in, my girlfriend and I both ordered the 2 piece boneless chicken plate. We had black beans and white rice, with a bread roll along the side. When we ordered, the cashier wasn't very nice and never smiled at us. It was very un-inviting. Our food was awesome, and I went to go check out the sauce bar they had. An employee named Madeline recommended a couple of different sauces and was very nice and outgoing. I would've given this 5 stars, but the cashier (the first person you talk to when you come in) wasn't very pleasant. There was not even one good thing I can say about this meal. The 1/4 dark meat chicken was so overcooked it turned to chalk in your mouth when you tried to chew it. The Cuban was dry & had no condiment in it. The rice was also overcooked & dry almost like it had been made days ago & reheated. I saw the grill had dozens of cooked chickens but they were on the side of the grill that wasn't on so they were just getting cold & hard. The pinchos were so hard it make by jaw pop when I tried to bite it. The yucca was hard & tasteless & so we're the French fries. The lettuce in the side salad was wilted. The beans were mushy I've been asking my family to get food from there for years because we'd tried it years ago but this was the worst meal I'm ordered from anywhere. Even the Powerade had no flavor... It was like drinking blue water. Not sure anyone has heard of salt & communication was also difficult no one has thought of a way to get words from one person to another... Pollo tropical has really tasty food! Espesh if you loves some rotisserie chicken! Gotta try the corn soufflé uhh-yumm! I've had my order messed-up once but they were cool about it and really-- I think it's a bad move to write off an establishment for little hiccups like that- I know everyone is touchy when it comes to being the paying customer.. My wife went to the drive thru, girl sped through the ordering process and could barely be understood. Once order was taken, she repeated it back correctly, but once my wife got home, not only was the order wrong, but one item was missing, which we were charged for. She ordered the 1/4 chicken meal and asked for dark meat, but received white meat that was dried out and hard as a rock. Didn't even bother calling, as we wont be back! This was my first time to Pollo Tropical. I received a coupon in the mail and thought I would check it out. My friend suggested a tropichop, so I ordered a pork tropichop with 1/2 brown rice and 1/2 lettuce. I was glad I got the small it was a perfect size. On top of bowl of rice, lettuce, pork, tomatoes, sauteed onions, corn. The meat was moist and flavorful. They had lots of sauce choices. I chose the guava bbq which was sweet and spicy. Honestly the tropichop didn't need the sauce but it was a nice addition. I received free tostones. They were served very hot. I haven't tried many tostones in my life but these were tasty. I also asked for cilantro lime sauce that I dipped the tostones in, which I definitely suggest. I ordered at the drive thru which was fast. They also have online ordering. I've visited this location several times through the drive thru. Each time, the line was short but moved painfully slow. The prices are decent (for a chicken Caesar wrap combo, which included a regular side of yellow rice with vegetables and a regular drink, cost $6.09 after tax). Portion size is a little hit and miss, while the regular sides are great portions, the wraps are a little on the smaller side. The food taste is hit and miss too. While the wraps are tasty (I have tried the chicken quesadilla, chicken Cesar, and spinach wraps), the yellow rice was bland. I do like that Pollo Tropical's menu is different than most fast food chains (and had some healthier alternatives), but as a whole, it's just OK. read more

I asked what happened to the vegetables and the clerk told me I had to dig for it, so I did in front of her and found 1 pea. I really hate to do this but I must say, Pollio Tropical at 3900 Park ave in Pinellas Park has the absolute worst service ever. They must be swimming in Covid aid money as they seem to have no interest in satisfying their customers. First, told we can not order inside as we don't have masks, we go to the drive in, order and wait 10 minutes for our food. Finally, I went in to see what was going on and the masked clerk mumbled that I needed a mask at which point I replied, no I need my order. I had to yell to get someone to find my order and finally bring it out to me, no apology and no effort to make things right. Corporate says it's a franchise store so I have to talk to the franchisee who is never available. I cant leave a survey on the companies advertised site as the link is broken. Ordered catering order a week ago for a meeting to be picked up today 11/23 . Ordered in plenty of time so they would be able to have everything . Got the confirmation and stated to be picked up at restaurant. Went to get order at first manager tried to say there was never a order placed . Then showed the manager the order and confirmation with credit card attached he says oh yeah I personally filled that order it went out for delivery with a third party caterer a hour ago. So he basically admitted lying . We explained it clearly said pick up we literally work in same parking lot and there was no address for a delivery so not sure where the mystery vehicle is with the food . We asked could he call them to figure it out manager shrugs his shoulders and says nothing he can do and he can't call out of his hands . So a $220 order is not important and a meeting with our food and 15 people waiting that live in this community is not important because the guy manager couldn't care less. Horrendous service he should have apologized owned and tried to make it right . Funny the Sonnys across the street fixed the issue for us got us food and now will get a repeat order every week of over 200 dollars . I have eaten at this Pollo Tropical for months. Normally I order a plain Chicken sandwich, mango tea, and Guava bars. You would think that is a VERY simple order to make, but for some reason they only get it right if I tell them 3 times! I used to order the Chicken well done, and they used to give it to me well done. Now when I go to this location I end up with a very, very, Very, small piece of chicken burnt, they are always "out" of mango tea, or they are out of Guava Bars. I was so sick of getting such a little piece of chicken one day that I asked how much it was for a big piece, payed extra, AND STILL ENDED UP WITH A SMALL PIECE!! They told to get a bigger piece was $2.00. What a waste of money! If you go to this location please BEWARE! At the drive through is a girl with blonde hair that normally wears it in a pony-tail. SHE is the one that always opens up my food, takes my chicken that a COOK put on my sandwich, and replaces it with a small piece after spending 2-3 minutes comparing them! I really think if you want to eat some Latin food, you should go look around the area. I've been to this location twice. Each time, it seems the order takers/cashiers hate life, hate you, and want nothing more than to make your visit difficult. As I said, two times I have visited, both times my entire table's orders were wrong - and to clarify, not the actual order, but we receive the wrong food. Here's why this should never happen. I'm not sure how it works at other Pollo Tropicales, but you are given a table order number placard which stands on a pedestal at the table, so that when you sit down - a food runner takes the ticket and matches the number on the order they have, to the order placard sticking up in the air in front of their face. I realize there is an illiteracy issue in the U.S....but when you cant match up numbers - western civilization has decayed past repair. As I sit and look at a steaming pile of something knowing it's not mine, and the grimace on the irritated runners face as to why I am not taking it, I ask her to look at the order number to match it with my table. She looks down, and does that familiar snap of tongue and lips, disgusted at me for not ordering what she was serving. As I sit and remain waiting for my slow, Latin fast food, it finally arrives. Cold, coagulated, contemptible. It can't be this hard to match numbers to customers' orders right...? I mean, the system is in place to retard mistakes and get hot food out to customers. The menu sounds interesting enough but adding salt to provide flavor does not cover up when meat is cooked too long. Pollo has been a good restaurant 90% of the time. There have been times where the chicken had been dry or burnt, and sometimes the portion sizes aren't worth the value, but if you come in at a good time the staff will pack your container with food. Even though I'm not fond of the small-sized wraps their food is generally good and fairly healthy at a decent price. read more
