Omg. I'm seriously so happy right now. Been craving Peruvian food the past week (random prego craving lmao) and my friend tells me this new place opened up. Got the half chicken with rice and fries. Chicken so juicy and perfectly seasoned. Legit home style deliciousness. Got the rice pudding to-go and put some whipped cream on top cuz I'm a fatty, but it wasn't necessary. Everything was so good. And everyone there is incredibly warm and welcoming. OH! And I was scared to try the green sauce cuz it's hot, but I mixed it a little bit with the yellow-- that green sauce is seriously addicting! I'll be back later this week for the lomo saltado. Can't wait! They have also said there are plans to expand their menu, so even more to look forward to!! read more

Finally something different in Jacksonville! The chicken was fall off the bone good, it was moist, well seasoned, and something I would compare to a home cooked meal but my mom can't cook this good! I'm from California and El Pollo Loco has Nothing on this place! I absolutely love the chicken here and the yellow sauce is to die for I would put it on everything if I could. Hands down the Most flavorful chicken in all of Jacksonville and honestly one of the best restaurants here in general. Most of the restaurants in town are bland, whereas this place actually has seasonings in their food. I cannot reccomend them enough and anyone who thinks walmart chicken is better obviously has No tastebuds. read more

I was told this place would probably have great broiled chicken but I think the rotisserie chicken at Walmart tastes better. I was very disappointed. The salad was plain and looked like it was tossed out of a large salad bag with three generic plastic bottles of dressing put on the table. The chicken was smoked with no spices at all. I miss our fast food place of El Pollo Loco in California and was hoping to get a flavorful broiled chicken. Suffice to say I will not be going back to this restaurant. OMG!! We needed pollo tete here in Jville. Just sad they got here when I'm leaving the area. Simple South American menu. I had Arroz con pollo with black beans and a side of sweet platanos. Flavorful chicken was tender and moist. Platanos soft and crispy like they should be. If you're missing this kind of comfort food you have to give them a try. Being Peruvian and a cook I am obviously going to have a lot to say when it comes to my food, the pollo a la brasa was ok, the meat fell of the bone like it was supposed to but could use a little more of the ingredients though. Just tried this restaurant today and it is my new favorite restaurant! I ordered the lomo saltado and my spouse got the pollo a la brasa with salad and yucca. They were both very tasty! The sauces were good too. We also tried the arroz con leche and flan and they were delicious! I will be coming here often! I am so glad that Jacksonville has a Peruvian restaurant and I do not have to drive all the way up to Raleigh anymore the food here is authentic and came out quickly. The servers were attentive and friendly as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

The prices are expensive, payed $17 for my order the plate came with half a chicken and 6 yuca fries also ordered a small order of salchipapas. My family and I were looking to support a local business plus get some good food days after the storm (Flo hit Thursday the 14th and we were looking for food the following Tuesday evening) but few local businesses were open. Olive garden, Lone Star, Ale House and such were, and the lines were extreme. We pulled up to Pollos Tete and they looked open as there were people hustling and bustling. They weren't open for business. Karla, one of the owners came to the door to greet us apologize as they were busy cooking for the shelter and Marines supporting recovery efforts She did say they would open the following day for business. We went back for lunch on Friday as we knew we had to support those supporting others. Boy were we glad! Their menu was slightly limited as rivers are still cresting and roads are closed but we got just about everything we wanted to try. We be back for their flan. Oh, the place smells of camp logs. They are cooking their chicken in a wood burning stove! No artificial smoke seasoning here. We had the rotisserie chicken, buttery white rice, black beans (absolutely not canned), yuca fries, and house made dipping sauces. Just simple and delicious. The place is clean, the service is friendly and attentive and the food is..."throw back"comforting. We came for lunch on Mother's Day. The restaurant is very clean and everything looks new. I ordered the Arroz Chaufa while the other people in my party ordered the ceviche and the 1/4 chicken. The food came out fairly quickly. Everything that was supposed to be hot was hot and everything tasted fresh. The plantains and yuca were very good, and all of the prices were more than reasonable. This military veteran family owned business is truly authentic, they smoke the pollo with a furnace they imported from Peru. The half chicken is the best of a wing, drum stick and the breast is so juicy. The best chicken skin is smoked, over another choice hands down! I love to pair it with the green sauce. The food is great, but the menu is limited. There are no ice machines available, and they only serve soda Tropicana O.J. and Apple Juice. I loved the chicken, it was delicious, but the black beans had no taste to them. My suggestion would be to broaden the menu, get an ice machine, and offer drinks that kids can have like white/chocolate milk. This would open the scope of who utilizes your business. Also, the television had inappropriate videos playing. My kids were bombarded by the gyrating visions on the screen, and it was way too loud. Suggestion, play music, but at a moderate volume. Offer/provide free water, and lemon to your customers, this will give the "healthy community" a boost. The Peruvian community is small in Jacksonville, and you want to branch out to all ethnicities. Overall, I would give 4 stars out of 5. read more
