Sarkis who turned out to be the owner was incredibly kind and courteous, understanding my situation right away. I brought rugs to this place for cleaning. I asked one of my friends to pick up my rugs since I was out of town. The business owner took advantage of this situation and charged me double the regular price and his excuse was that he had to use a different rug cleaning company which was more expensive!!! First of all why he didn't let me know about sending my rugs to a different place with a different price?!! I also brought my cashmere sweaters to this place and received them totally out of shape!! I'm extremely grateful for Sarg! I was supposed to pick up some pants I had hemmed on Saturday before I flew out Sunday morning and lost track of time to realize they were closed for the day. I called their number in hopes that he was still at the store even though it was already 30 minutes past closing time. Sarg picked up the phone and told me he was already home but he knew that I needed the pants for the trip and said he would drive all the way back to the store so I could get them. He acted like it was our fault even though we have a receipt saying how many items we brought. He also tried to write over the receipt to show that he was right. This place is clean, standard pricing, quick turn around, and most importantly for me it's the greatest quality of work. Inside the Neck line on dress shirts, its always an issue with most places and also the armpit area... If you are a banker or something that involves a suit and tie daily, you know what I'm talking about. But at Benson's they got it figured out. My wife is also pleased and she's not impressed easily. What a pleasure it is doing business at this top notch Almaden dry cleaners! Sargiz the owner offered to come to my house to give me an opinion on whether I should invest the money to have some older bedroom drapes taken down by him and dry cleaned. He came out after work on a Friday evening and gave me an honest opinion that the drapes probably would not stand up to being dry cleaned and advised me to save my money and instead perhaps invest in new drapes. I was so appreciative of his honest response and him losing out on the job and when I offered to pay him for coming out to my home he would not hear of it. I totally relied on yelp's review when I chose this place for my wedding dress cleaning and my bridesmaid's dress cleaning. After my experience with Benson's, I felt that this place was overrated for the following reasons. 1. Not friendly at all- 2. They tried to add more service on when I only needed simple pressing on the dress. 3. Long turnaround time - it took more than 2 months to get it done 4. Lack of communication- They never called me for follow-up (although they promised me to call back for pickup date) or even when my wedding dress was ready. I actually had to call them and found out that my dress was sitting there for weeks. read more

I never write reviews and this is my first, but I had to after my experience. This is the BEST hands down dry cleaner I have ever been to. I recently had an accident while wearing my most expensive suit. I'll spare everyone the details but the stains it had I doubted anyone could have gotten out. Not only did they get the stains out, but my suit looked better than it ever has. I've used everyone at one time or another from here to West LA. Some have been great and others terrible but I've never been able to say someone is the best. Not anymore, these guys are the best. Since my accident I have used these guys for the last 2 weeks and it's been the same every time. They do what they do efficiently, they're reasonable and the service has been top notch every time. I cannot more HIGHLY RECOMMEND them. I live close, but I travel a lot and usually just use whoever is around. If I have to wait in the future to have them do my dry cleaning I will. read more

Charged me $23.50 for dry cleaning my raincoat and it came back dirtier than I gave it to them and when I went back, the owner made me feel as if I need to thank him. He said he's not gonna charge me for it again! Really? It was not cleaned at all and there was a white line on it and when I told him that I need it back today because it will be raining for the next week, he said I won't give it back for another 5 days! I decided to try a new dry cleaner (for dry cleaning and a small alteration job) and saw the good ratings for Bensons, so I decided to give it a try. First of all, the man at the front is very nice, which is an added plus. He took the time to listen to what I was looking for in my alteration and I showed him the stains I needed out on my Balenciaga shirt. The shirt came back FLAWLESS and looked brand new and so did the alteration I asked them to do. This is my new dry cleaning go to. I now take all of my dry cleaning and alteration needs here. For basic services this place is good. I like their quick turnaround and they do a decent job on the basics. But twice now I've run into an issue with major services here. The first was a snagged sweater I wanted repaired. Their solution was to pull the snag through the sweater and leave the knit uneven. I declined the service and found another place for the repair. The second time my daughter got children's washable paint on a dress. I brought it here for cleaning service the same day ($13.75). I forgot to pick it up for a few weeks and when I did, the stain looked exactly the same. There was even still a crust of paint on top of the fabric. The lady told me it looked like part of the design of the dress and still charged me $10 if they weren't able to clean the garment, they shouldn't charge for the service. Also maybe call me to pick it up so I can take it elsewhere. read more

Had a very vintage corduroy jacket (circa 1970) cleaned here, picked up today. The jacket is very special, belonged to my dad when he was a teacher and now that I am one, he gave it to me. Needed a good cleaning though since it had obviously been stashed in a closet since the Carter administration. Bensons did a great job. I'm new to the area, and didn't know where to go for excellent dry cleaning service. Yelp saved the day! I dropped off my peacoat and my boyfriends down feather jacket to get cleaned. It was a bit pricey, but I don't know on average how much it is to clean a down feather jacket and a wool peacoat. The boyfriend's jacket was in serious need of cleaning. I don't need to go into details, but let's just say the collar needed the most attention. Bensons did an excellent job and was on time with the pick-up day! I am so glad I went to Bensons - haven't used a dry cleaner for the last 4 months when a place in Santa Cruz who I won't name utterly failed to clean a comforter left by my now deceased grandfather. Today that comforter is as clean, and as stainless as the day I received it. I went in half hopeless and spoke to the gentleman there who insisted that it could be cleaned. He was very nice but efficient and told me he would not promise he could do it unless it could be done. It was a week before I could return but when I did he recognized me immediately, greeting me BY NAME!!! Took my ticket, ran to the back and grabbed the comforter for me. When I examined it he just smiled. Well worth the trip, the time, money and hope I had of restoring my grandfather's comforter. I could not be happier. read more

She charged me $4.00 for pressing a simple tonic shirt and 8.00$ for pressing a cotton simple dress!!!!! She keeps telling me that your cloths had wrinkles ? Of course other than that I would take care of it at home I used to live in SF and always thought SJ is less pricey. I initially found this place on Yelp and my first experience was with the husband, who is very nice. I have been back 6 or 7 times since, and normal dry cleaning has been fine. However, if you have something a bit more detail oriented, I recommend staying away! I brought down an autographed baseball jersey to have a commemorative patch sewn onto the sleeve. I told her I just needed the patch sewn on, and showed her exactly where. I told her not to steam it or dry clean it because of the signature. The wife was either ignoring me or just not paying attention, because when I got back, they had steamed it and the signature had smudged a bit. Given that the patch was sewn on well, and right where I asked for it to be, and because I didn't ram it home how important it was NOT to steam it, I blamed myself and went on with my day. I thought I would give them another shot with the jerseys, which turned out to be the wrong decision. I printed out photos of exactly where I wanted the patches of the jerseys and made it abundantly clear not to do anything with them but sew on the patches. I even explained why it was important not to steam them. They steamed them anyway, because the wife, once again, was either ignoring me or thought she knew best. The signature of one jersey bled substantially, rendering it effectively worthless, and the other bled a little and the hologram applied to it, which shows the authenticity of the signature, had come completely off. When I brought this to her attention, she said she didn't understand "why so important" and pulled out a Sharpie and was about to darken the signatures herself *sigh* She insisted on me paying for the work, despite the issues, and even charged me $2 more per patch. Turns out she fell and broke her arm, and had to send it to someone else to do, so my price went up. I paid and vowed never to go back. Then, as I was starting to pull away, an angry woman approached my vehicle, apparently the employee that steamed it, and started getting into it with me because the owner had, in turn, just yelled at her for "ruining my jerseys." I told her it wasn't her fault, but the wife's for not paying attention to me, which effectively proved my point again. To summarize, if it is extremely convenient for you, and you just need a steam or dry cleaning, it should be fine. Anything that takes the owner actually having to pay attention to you, I would strongly recommend against it. read more
