This used to be "Tomy's Burger" when I first moved to California roughly 8 years ago and up until I went to high school at Poly. Regardless of the change of name, the food has always been amazing in terms of the rich flavor and the cheap price. Yeah, it may be in the hood, but to be honest, the best type of food are the ones deep in the neighborhood. It's symbolic of the culture. Poly Burger definitely is famous for their large and cheap fries. But my favorite burger has to be the steak burger; hands down, there is no other fast food joint that can make it like them--succulent steak, baby! Yeah it's greasy and I am fully aware of potential arteries clogging action, but for this one food item, I'll take that risk. The place is extremely tiny and it's located by a high school, so it's packed usually after school (2 PM - 4 PM) = avoid at all cost. There is no bathroom because from years of observations, the kids overcrowd the area for 5/7 days and these teens would tag and destroy the bathrooms. Just like high school. Ah-huh. The staffs are relatively nice and admirably patient--I don't know how they can put up with the demands of teens the way they do. Go for the fries--it's what they're ultimately best known for. The burgers are recommended. The steak sandwich is a must. read more

I have been coming here for many years. My kids love their fries. Unfortunately, I will not be going back again. The Asian guy, who maybe the owner or manager was very rude! I almost asked for my money back! I noticed all the usual workers are not there. Perhaps, he was rude to them! It's trying times right now for many due to the Pandemic... however, it's no excuse to treat customers badly especially when they are nice! I will pray for this guy that whatever has him in a bad mood shall pass. I will no longer recommend this place or will I return again! They need to update the photo about the menu prices because it's inflation and things have gone up by $2. I didn't take a picture because I was too hungry and just got my regular fries. I googled "best burger in Long Beach" and it pointed me to this place. I decided to try this place out...even though it wasn't the most attractive place. I ordered a double cheeseburger and fries. The wait was very entertaining. A super fat lady with fake eyelashes came in to complain about oil/butter being on a bun. Mfer this and mfer that...I ain't eating no g dam bread with butter. That was when I realized that this is not a family burger joint. Regardless...I received my burger in a timely fashion. The packaging was nice, the service was nice....but the burger and fries were garbage. This place is just another Sysco burger. I am glad I ordered a double or else my burger would have equaled the size of two pieces of balogne. No need to go into undercooked fries and nasty ketchup. Not even close to the best burger in Long Beach. Try somewhere else until this owner gets his act together. read more

Ive been getting food here ever since I was in high school back when it was called Tomy's. There is something about the fries here... just pure addictive. The burgers here are juicy and they put just the right amount of sauce. It isn't pricey either. Thumbs up ! read more

Hands down the best burger place from my childhood... I remember being really young having burgers from this place and loved the burgers specially the ice cream dipped in some hard chocolate thing! I now live about 20 miles away but whenever im in long beach I have to stop here. I always get the #1 the original haha this place used to be called tommys burgers now Pollys burgers. Poly's is aaaight. I think people hype it up to be honest. I got the Colossal burger, but it should be called the Baby Colossal burger. Its basically an average sized burger with some pastrami, lots of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and secret sauce. The bread is airy, the patty is thin, and its short on pastrami. Honestly, its aaaaight. The burger is good, but not 4 stars good. BUT! But with all that said, it is still better than McDonald's or Carl's Jr....way better. Check it out. Their fries were delicious. Thicker than average and good. Whats nice about this place is the people working there. Everyone is really professional. The Latina girl working there is attentive and super nice. The diner is clean when compared to other buger joints. Parking is excellent btw. read more

It's ok. Its what I expected I guess. Got a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. Total was around $10. Pretty good portion size but not exactly the cheapest. There's really not much to say about it. I'd rather have almost any other burger place that is somewhat close, i.e. IN n OUT. The reviews seem to be really into chili cheese fries, so maybe thats where the good stuff is. If you live in the area give it a try, I doubt you'll be blown away or particularly disappointed. read more

If you went to Poly High, you already know about Poly Burger. This place is like a second home to Poly students. I used hang out here after school at least once a week from 9th grade up to my last semester at LBCC. I still like to come here with my friends and dates once in a while when I'm on that side of town. The fries are everything. It's not rare for me to hop on the 61 and take it all the way down to Poly Burgers just for a bag of fries and a coke. Haters can go back OC. Man does this place bring back some memories! As a Poly graduate I spent many a day at the former Tommy's. I actually like the name change as the restaurant is a staple for anyone who has ever walked the halls of Long Beach Poly. The food is great for a high school student with a high metabolism, however those of you looking to keep paleo should keep on driving. If you're driving by during breakfast time you cant go wrong with a breakfast burrito. You get a big flour tortilla, packed with sausage, eggs, cheese, and potatoes. Service is friendly, but the ever-so-popular fries here are definitely overpriced. I still get them anyway. The fries come plain and you can put as much salt or seasoning salt from the counter as you want. Especially crowded between 1:40 and 3:30ish, when it's full of Poly kids.
