I want to hope this was a fluke experience, but yikes it was overall terrible. We were a party of 6 coming in to have dinner last night, our waiter took our order and didn't course appetizers. All apps and main courses hit our table within 6 minutes of placing our order. The honey, prosciutto appetizer was good but it seemed like the restaurant and kitchen were both just in a rush. My husband had the gnocchi dish but it had no texture at all- it was baked to mush and burnt on top. The pizza was passable, but soggy in the middle. Our waiter came back to fill our waters around when he also dropped our check. Waiter was definitely trying, just seemed inundated. Overall I was very disappointed and would not return. read more

Overall this place was okay! The pizza was really good and came out quickly for a group of 4 so I'd definitely recommend it for just food. Each pizza is also HUGE and is more than enough for 1 person! Our waiter was super nice and personable, but we came here after hearing great things about the espresso martinis which were below average during our trip (super watered down and not very flavorful despite ordering one of every speciality flavor). Walked in , greeting was delightful . I declined a table and opted to sit at the bar. First let down , the counter top was messy , had not been wiped down yet . Bar tender was clearly busy , no initial greeting and not really looking up at her guests . Once greeted she acknowledged the couple sitting next to me . My husband and I saw this place when we came out of a wonderful Mexican restaurant next door. We vowed to come back since we love both pizza and pasta . We came at a descent time so we were seated right away. We asked to be seated inside because there were people smoking outside and I can't stand smoke and we won't be able to enjoy food. The menu was short but our server Briana H. was kind enough to explain the menu to us since we are not locals. 6:30 I ordered the Pomo house wine and then she came back for our other orders. We ordered Salad to share to start and for our entrees, my husband ordered Tagliatelle Bolognese and I ordered Lasagna. According to the time stamps on my camera, the salad was served around 6:55pm. That's a long wait. So after we had our salad, we had to wait on our entrees. Tiktok. The vibe was Ok. While waiting, we were looking around, The mural on the wall was nice. The staff seemed like they were always busy. They make their own pizza right infront of you. See, that's the thing, We believed that they are more focused on the pizza making, delivery and takeout. Brianna came to collect our empty plates and said she'd check on our food again. Tiktok.. My husband and I were starving. Did we make a mistake not ordering pizza? 7:19 PM comes and here comes Brianna H. saying, "I'm so sorry it took awhile . It it's awhile for the lasagna to make.." I said, I understand. I asked my husband to flag our server so she can heat my food, put it in a microwave real quick or just do something to have them heat it up. She came back to our table and we told her what the problem was, I saw her hand it to her supervisor/manager and we were told they were going to make me a new one and that'll have to make me wait , in the meantime, my husband was already feeding me his pasta. OMG, what a mess this experience was. We were expecting so much more from this place. We told Brianna too in the beginning that we've never had a bad Italian food before. This was a nightmare! Pomo has such a great location downtown! I would highly recommend getting the Milo Italiano - this is my absolute new favorite Moscow mule in Phoenix! My friends got the tiramisu espresso martini, which was fantastic and then the Aperol spritz - this one was just decent. We split the Buffalo Verace and Burratella pizzas. Both were amazing, but the Burratella specifically blew us away!! read more

Came here for ice cream, since a lot of the dessert shops around the area are closed indefinitely or closed on Mondays. They offer gelato here, and the menu can be found inside on the wall. Lots of interesting concoctions. We ended up getting coconut, Luna, and the tiramisu flavored gelatos. The coconut flavored gelato was a little too sweet, but the tiramisu and Luna flavored gelatos were soooooo good! Whatever chocolate syrup they have on the ice cream is delicious! The chocolate flavors are so rich and decadent, and not overly sweet. If you're looking for gelato to cool off, try this spot! read more

Dead Fly in Glass of Wine! I've been to POMO dozens of times with great food and experience. Snotty server Jack G was aggravated we moved tables and split checks. Not the first time he plays nice to customers faces yet goes away to complain and makes jokes about customers with other staff. I did not eat here, so this review is based on my experience with the manager while making the appointment. I tried to make a reservation for 11 people (8 adults and 3 kids) but it can't be done online, so I spoke with the manager. He said we had to have a minimum of $40 per person. We don't drinks, and pizzas are only $15, so I asked him how we were supposed to reach the ridiculous $40/person minimum. Even if we split a pizza between 2 people and salads and apps, we still couldn't each that. We made a reservation for 8 and then one for 3, and were going to split up at dinner, however Cibo was a lot more realistic and accommodating so we canceled our reservations here and decided to eat at Cibo. It's ridiculous that they have availability for a table or 8 and a table or 3, and we don't have to have a minimum, however if we all wanted to sit at the same table we need a minimum. Our server was an older white women with brunette hair. To start she was very rude, she arrived to our table upset, not making any eye contact. We also waited an extended period of time just to get drinks after she checked on tables near us while ignoring us. She also messed up our drink order and avoided our table. The whole dining experience was below satisfactory, due to the poor customer service. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. So here is my honest feedback. I had the margarita pizza. The crust was very soggy. I'm a tad unimpressed especially since the pizza at Pomo is highly regarded by restaurant reviewers. I believe my friend had the Toto sapore pizza, he thought it was very good although he did say the sausage was very spicy. We had the calamari which was amazing and we finished with the Nutella torte. The torte was to die for. I also had the tiramisu martini which was a perfectly fine martini. I am on a self-appointed mission to try as many of the top pizza places in the Valley. I do not have any qualifications or grading rubric aside from being a lover of pizza. The Downtown Phoenix location clearly caters to the neighboring ASU campus with an incredibly solid draft beer list, some amazing-sounding cocktails, and competitive prices. I tried the Zenzero cocktail. I am not really a huge rum drinker but this cocktail is incredible and dangerous. It's more like a really solid mango smoothie in that you don't really taste or feel the alcohol until you're halfway through. At the bartender's recommendation I tried the Pizza Burratella which is apparently one of their most popular pizzas. After a few bites it was apparent that they know what they're doing at Pomo, but this pizza was not for me. This pizza sounds good on paper, and I couldn't even decide if I had liked it or not until I was about halfway home. The dough is incredible and has a nice leoparding on the crust. The burrata, honey, and basil are very nice. They have this chili thread that is a nice touch but feels unnecessary in my opinion. The other noteworthy thing about this pizza is the lack of a sauce. This isn't an issue to me, personally, but is something worth noting and something they note very plainly on their menu. Another thing that I thought was VERY odd -- and might just be my own sense of taste -- the hot soppressata on the pizza tastes EXACTLY like kettle-cooked popcorn. I cannot explain this, and I don't know if I am alone in thinking this. I was too embarrassed to ask. All in all I absolutely plan on going back and ordering something different. read more

Get the GRAMIGNA BOSCAIOLA! It's the green and yellow mushroom pasta that is highlighted on the menu for a reason! Personally, I think that the other pastas fall a little short but this one is to die for! Our server with the British accent was super friendly and funny, but service was a little spotty. I don't think it's all on him though, they look like they could use another server on the floor. We had outdoor seating on a great day and I have no complaints about that! This is the best happy hour in Phoenix, hands down. There's nowhere else that compares for the price on cocktails and appetizers. There are some great vegetarian options on the menu! Some apps, like the eggplant parmesan, can operate as a full dinner. I especially love their arancini; I'd eat that sauce with a spoon. Their margherita pizza reminded me of pizza I had while actually in Italy - thin crust, quality mozzarella. My favorite thing is their gelato. They do fruity, chocolately, and nutty flavors well, with all the classics and a couple interesting options. I appreciate that they'll split a scoop between a couple flavors. Their cocktail menu is fabulous as well. The blackberry lemondrop is my favorite for a perfect sweet/sour balance. Classics like the peach bellini and the negroni are present, and I've heard good things about their mule, but if you're looking for something different, the Passione is tart, passionfruity, and interesting. I asked for a coke and the manager gave me one for free, the small gesture went a long way for me. I noticed they had gelato so after I was done obliterating my tacos, I went back inside and ordered vanilla gelato. Delicious! We just LOVE POMO! For authentic Italian pizza & pasta, I can't recommend them enough! Their arancini balls are phenomenal & I even love their mushroom soup! Their baguettes are so delicious & the pizza crust is very tender & flavorful (crust is important around here!). My boyfriend typically gets the Quattro formaggio & I will get the classic Margherita or their pasta - which is HAND MADE! Their gelato is also delicious & creamy. The food is fantastic, the space needs an upgrade. This place has delicious food! We ordered the rice balls (forgot the name) as an appetizer. They were good except the cheese inside wasn't melted. The sauce though! Wow! I asked for some of it on the side for our bread so I could dip it. For entrées, my husband ordered a pizza and added raw prosciutto and the crust was... yes! I ordered the bolognese, which I've never had anywhere before (so I may be ignorant) but it was SO Good. I ate the leftovers for breakfast the next day. The down side of Thai place is their organization. They pack SO many people in such a tiny space that you are elbow to elbow with the people at the table next to you. It's hard to get to your booth without sticking your ass in someone else's plate! It also caused a lagging service.
