I wanted to like this place and on the surface it looks solid. Limited, yet decent selection of bikes, but unfortunately a sales manager that is completely inept in dealing with people. I volunteer as a camp director in Northern Westchester and I'm in the market for 18 beginner bikes for our 2023 season. I inquired (and reluctantly, ultimately purchased) about a bike to demonstrate its feasibility to my co-directors on our campground. I wish I had read these reviews before initiating any interaction. It's abundantly clear now that this behavior is consistent. I stood around for 25 minutes after giving two hours worth of notice that I'd be arriving to collect my bike. In the most rude tone she could've taken, I was told she'd be with me when she was ready. Once we finally got started with the purchase, I was told it was best to pay in cash, because their machine will automatically offload the cost of a credit card transaction onto the customer. Somehow, this IS legal but retailers CAN absorb the cost or inform their customers they are going to add the fees to the purchase price. It is NOT automatic. We proceeded. As we sifted through the paperwork, I mentioned I was unhappy with how this transaction was unfolding, which turned out to be a HUGE MISTAKE. I was bombarded with incendiary nonsensical questioning, all devoid of logic. In no time at all, this heated berating spilled into the larger lobby area where I was verbally attacked further in front of other employees and customers. Absolutely wild! At this point, I was stuck. She had my money and I had driven 1.5 hours to be there so I endured knowing full-well that writing this review was only gaining traction and the loss of my camp's potential business would sting if they ever found out. To wrap up, I've chalked this up to an angry person in the wrong job and have moved on. For anyone that reads this, I hope you'll STAY AWAY. read more

The sales lady was rude, wouldn't show us side by sides because they are wet. Not helpful what so ever with info on machines and walked away from me and my partner. At one point we wanted to check out a Honda talon that was blocked in by two quads and she gave us a hard time about moving them for us to check out the machine a little closer. The work they do is good. But expect your bike to be gone for at least two months. Mine took 4 months and they constantly kept making mistakes like ordering the wrong fairings, also missing parts in an order. They would say the bike is done next week but then delay it. This is a certified Honda dealer/ service center and they sell the bike I came in with. When I came in I was deciding if I would want a trail 125 or a supercub 125 because my current scooter (a Honda Navi) had an issue with a recall for the speedometer cable and I wanted to see if they could fix it if not maybe they would give me a decent price and I would just buy a nicer Honda scooter. I had some questions for the manager because they had a discount on both bikes and the salesman was very courteous with me. Every time I had a question for the sales manager he seemed reluctant on asking her to come over to me and I tried to understand so I asked if he could be the middle man in asking these questions I had. He did for a while but after a point he said we couldn't anymore because she is getting annoyed with the questions but still didn't want to come out to answer them for me. I didn't have a lot of questions just basic stuff and it totaled to around 5-6 questions. The sale was dead in my eyes and I just waited to get my scooter and leave. After 2 hours of examination because the mechanic came in an hour late and took the second hour catching up on their missed work, I got my keys and was ready to head back home after a long day. I want to make it clear that I am not trying to accuse anyone of foul play, when I got back on my scooter and couldn't get the engine to run. I drove it for an hour to get to the dealer and had half a tank of gas left. I had never had that happen to me before and it was a new scooter with almost 1k miles. I pulled my key out, walked in, and asked the sales man who was helping me before hand to please bring a technician/ mechanic out to take a look at my scooter because it wasn't starting. The salesman did go to the manager first and I completely get that. But the manager who wanted nothing to do with me runs out of their office screaming across the showroom floor that no one touches my bike because it's a liability if they do and that I just don't have gas in it, I want to make it clear that he's the manager was rude to me and when I tried to explain that I'm not accusing anyone of messing something up on purpose maybe they could look at the bike to see if they missed anything she walks away from me while I'm in mid sentence. After her yelling at the mechanic who worked on my bike telling him to tell me there is nothing wrong with it she turns to me to shout again it needs gas and they didn't do anything wrong to the bike, so I walked away from her mid sentence, I understand it wasn't the most mature thing to do but I was getting fairly bothered by this whole experience, the technician/ mechanic comes out to try to get it to run. After a few attempts it does and he try's saying there is barely any gas in it I pointed to the fuel indicator and said I have half a tank, he tried to tell me that it wasn't accurate but I really just wanted to go home which was an hour away. I had an experience before that which was fairly decent, I came in looking for a helmet and was walked through the fitting process and I left with a jacket, a helmet, and some gloves. It was alright, but just because I had this nicer experience doesn't mean how I was treated with my scooter was acceptable in any manner. Yes they have a wide variety of helmets and other gear like jackets, gloves, boots/shoes, etc but I cannot recommend anyone taking their business after what I encountered there. read more

After going over prices and how much I was able to afford at that moment they pretty much just turned me away for being short just 1 thousand dollars. Clearly this place wants every penny they can get. After telling them how much money I have for the bike in cash they only lower another 250.00 so how is that really helping me? I tried getting a price match with an out of state dealer in an effort to to do business locally and they were 2500$ more than the other dealer. Poor sales skills. A dealer retains the right to sell inventory at whatever price they want but their style in how they deal with costumers is horrible. I went to the other dealer and had a great experience with people who were happy for my business. if you are the type of buyer that just wants the first thing he sees or has no knowledge of value or doesnt really even care about paying more for a bike than its actually worth then this is the type of dealership you should check out. you will see four year old models on the floor priced about the same as the current model year. that should tell you something. it will tell you that they are willing to lose customers to maximize profitability because they believe if you dont buy it some other a$$hole will. i literally was about to hand over a check for a bike after i was told it had the ABS option i wanted. when i went to pick it up i was informed that it had traction control only and no ABS option but not to worry because "its the same thing." again, if i was a 18 year old girl who had been living under a rock for the last decade i might have believed that. however after being told the option was not present dont you think a normal reaction would be to reduce the price?!! nope. i was told by the salesman that it was "still a good deal" and he let me walk out and buy the same model elsewhere for less! being a glutton for punishment, and deciding to give it a second chance years later i was going to purchase another bike when the salesperson never even provided a quote when asked....as if it was a secret. when i presented the price i could get it for elsewhere i was told to buy it elsewhere. not even curious to lift a finger to try to make an offer...question: who the f*&# does that? answer: pompton power sports. i would seriously question the integrity of any other positive reviews on this site. i have no reason to lie or make up stories about anyone let alone a motorcycle dealership. the honest truth is you can get the same product elsewhere for less. indisputable fact. any positive review here is most likely left by someone who doesnt haggle on price. and thats fine. but just realize if you overpaid anyone because you dont care or money is no object of course you would have a positive experience. if you pay me to be your friend id leave a positive review as well. read more

My mistake is that I put a deposit on a motorcycle I thought I wanted. I was dealing with Steve who is a salesman. When I found something else I liked after doing more research I asked for my deposit back and he told me it was non-refundable. I didn't think to ask if it was. Their prices for some of the models I was looking for including an MT07,MT09 and Kawi Z900 were more expensive than other dealerships (motorcycle mall and east Hanover Motorsports). I've been to Pompton Sport Center a bunch of times over the years. The parts department is pretty good and they also have a good selection of aftermarket gear. Ken is funny and knowledgeable. Parts gets 5 stars. The sales department seems to be hit and miss. The last time I was at Pompton (to pick up some FZ1 parts) I was also browsing bikes for a friend . The salesperson was helpful but when my friend showed up a few days later it didn't go so great.. The funny thing is that I had actually spoken to the salesperson about female customers (and my friend Stefania in particular) and he told me that they have special training for helping women riders etc.. ..well she stopped in ready to buy but ended up getting her motorcycle elsewhere. I came in here a few weeks ago to buy a helmet. Talked to a guy in the parts department a little and he recommended an Arai. Since I didn't know if he was trying to just sell me one of the most expensive helmets, and I have an inner cheap ass, I asked to try on pretty much all the other brands and he was very accommodating. So after trying on a good 10+ helmets.. I purchased an Arai like he recommended in the first place.. because well, it felt like sex on my head (wat) and we're talking about the safety of my brain here. My only gripe about this place is that they're only open until 5 on weekdays.. makes it hard for working peeps like myself to get in there, and it can be busy on weekends which is when I want to be riding. read more

I brought my atv in since it wouldn't start, it took them about a week to fix it and costed me about 3 hundred dollars and they supposedly "fixed anything that was wrong with my quad." 2 days later the quad again stopped turning on completely and we were forced to send it back to Pompton sports center. They then said that the fuel injector was in terrible condition and that they would order an new one and it should take about a week, it's been 3 weeks and whenever I call they either leave me on hold or hang up on me. In the past year I've shopped bikes here and they were by far the most expensive place. Both times they kept telling me they couldn't do any better because their price was "barely above cost". So explain to me how a leftover 2018 bike that Pompton wanted $15,400 out the door can be bought at another shop for $13,200??? How are these other shops able to be so much lower than "cost"? I asked why and they decided to do my brake pads without consulting me first. That is completely unprofessional and not right. I went in to purchase a specific helmet. They do not have this helmet in stock, they can order it. I said ok and then asked if they could fit me for the right size and was told "not so you can go buy it on the internet". 1. I was asking if you can fit me for that helmet to order the correct size from you. 2. The other two workers snickering and making side comments was unnecessary. 3. You have no idea that we just purchased a bike, are in the market for a quad, need all new gear, and I have cold hard cash. 4. How do you sustain business treating inexperienced riders like they are complete idiots, with snide comments and arrogance? I went to motorcycle mall in Belleville and showed them the same pic I had taken from online, they measured me, were patient and informative, discovered I measured different and actually needed a small, searched for the same helmet in a small just not the color, made sure it fit correctly, and ordered it for me with free shipping to my home. I have never had an issue with Pompton Sports Center before until recently. I just purchased a winch and plow setup for my Yamaha Grizzly. After spending over $1500.00 I found a service charge of $60.00 to wash the quad. When I challenged the cost the service person said that's what they charge and they have had other complaints. I asked for the service manager. He was extremely unprofessional and I could tell from his attitude that he could care less what I thought. I bought my Yamaha Grizzly 450 and have had my Quad service there twice now. I will never go back. P.S. When I got the Quad home it still had mud on it. read more

Dealt with Steve in getting my 13' Kawasaki Ninja ZX6r. No B.S from him and pretty much cut straight to the chase. Even expedited the predelivery so I can ride the bike home that same day (was suppose to rain the next couple of days). Before getting the bike there, I had purchased a Icon Overlord leather jacket from them a couple months prior, and the guys in the accessories dept. were very helpful and helped me with sizing. Called to make an appointment to bring my bike in for service and was told I could drop it off the following Friday. Hadn't heard from them byTuesday so I called and was told they hadn't gotten to it yet and they would maybe get to it on Wednesday (I'm sorry, what?, maybe you'll get to it tomorrow??? WTF kind of place is this?) They call me on Thursday and tell me they can't duplicate my concerns (this is the party line when you are either unskilled or don't try to correct a problem). So I go to pick up my bike on Friday and when I get there my bike is coated in water spots and the underside of my tank bib is soaked as are the contents of my windshield bag ( now I'm furious because my bike is garage kept and has never seen the rain). So, I flipped out on these people about how my bike was handled and all they kept saying is that the rain isn't going to hurt my bike and they would wash it for me; the whole time telling me that all the bikes go outside during the day so they could work on other bikes. The service mgr. comes out and starts telling me the same thing about how the water won't hurt my bike and I told him that it isn't his bike and he has no right to make decisions like that with my property after they led me to believe that the bikes were stored inside. He also stated that the ATV's were stored outside in all kinds of weather including snow. ATV's are completely different than a cruiser. To top it all off one of the mechanics said, right in front of the service mgr, that he wished that I would "do something" so he could retaliate; I imagine he meant physically by his demeanor and actions. If you value your property I cannot stress enough that you should stay far away from this place. I will never set foot in that place again. The only plus was there was no charge and I personally believe that was because they didn't do anything except mistreat MY bike. read more

Took a ride with my boyfriend this weekend to get oil and filters for his bike. One thing I must say is that they have a very helpful staff that are more than willing to answer any of your questions that you may have. From what I saw in the sales section there were plenty of motorcycles and a few quads to look at. My review doesn't really mean much being that I wasn't there for myself let alone know what the hell he was buying or what its purpose is. Purchased my 2014 Kawasaki Ninja 650 from Steve in the sales area. Very patient, knowledgeable, and no nonsense. Price was very good and they had a great accessory department too. Its really the closest place from my house, but still not easy for me to get too. Only complaint I have is that the bike was delivered with very low tire pressure. Front tire was 21psi. Rear was 27psi. According to the manual, it should be front 32psi and rear 37psi. Seems they had it at storage setting, and never bothered to add air before delivery. Normally I would not make a big deal over something so small, but on a bike I feel it's a safety issue. Bike should have really been cleaner too, since it was new. So, I'm hesitant to have my bike serviced here due to lack of attention to detail. read more

Only giving one star because 0 isn't an option. Was away at college and had my dad drop my bike off to be serviced as I was going to be coming home in 2 weeks and wanted to go for a ride while I was home. Dad dropped it off and heard NOTHING so he called on Wednesday since I was coming home Friday. They hadn't even gotten to it yet! All of a sudden it was done the next day. Suspicious but whatever. Took it for a ride then went back to school. Came home again about 3 weeks later for my birthday. I was in my bedroom next to my garage and my girlfriend could smell gasoline coming from the garage. I go out to look and my bike is leaking gas all over the floor. Take it back to these guys and find the fuel lines dry rotted. They said "they dry rotted between you picking it up and now". Things don't dry rot in 3 weeks, they clearly didn't look everything over as we suspect and was now confirmed. Service managers name was Bob he was the worst. Made us pay for service and then fuel line replacement... Over $600. I now go to Town and Country Motorcycle. It's a bit of a ride but I don't trust my bike with people who clearly don't care are about their job. read more

I needed an inexpensive yet difficult to find part for my Wife's 93 Honda Nighthawk (Carburetor mixture screw) called on the phone and received courteous service and yes they had it!!! Told them I was coming down and on arrival part was pulled and waiting, 90% of the calls I make to parts departments are the same they act like you're bothering them, NOT AT THIS PLACE!!! they even took the time to instruct me on proper installation procedure and saved me from damage I may have caused without the tutorage... Dropped off a dirt bike and a quad for a simple carburetor cleaning. They called back with a quote for about $800!!! The service person was also surly and couldn't believe I wouldn't just pay whatever he said. They also couldn't get the work done in less than 2 weeks, saying I should have dropped off the bikes a month ago, if I wanted them done. I was looking for tires for my midsize sport tourer and with the help of the parts dept,decided on the Conti Trail Attack 2.Great choice as it turned out as I got caught in a rain storm the very next day.Tires worked extremely well in dry and wet conditions,good traction all around.The service dept. had them installed in under an hour (on the bike) at a good price.GREAT service! A family member bought his first bike here and still buys all their parts here as well. Steve hooked me up when I was ready to buy a bike here. Got a great deal on a almost new gsxr. Businesses like these are a dime a dozen.. One you can form lifetime relationships with. We also buy all our parts and gear here. If they don't have something in stock they will order it for you and price match!!! They are helpful in educating people on their purchases as well. I never really shop at franchises or corporate companies I'm a big supporter of family owned businesses and I 100% vouch for these guys.
