This business is run and operated by 2 young brothers. Don't let that fool you, they've been doing this 16 years and are absolutely professional and so good at what they do!!! They knocked it out of the park with price, design, timeframe and professionalism!!! SO FIRST THE BACK STORY BEFORE I GET TO HOW POND WORKS SAVED THE DAY!!!.... I had a waterfall and pond put in my first property around 2005 and I paid a mint for it, but it was worth every penny. That was a different company. Sadly, I lost that property in the last recession. I now am in my 3rd property which I've had 4 years. I always missed the waterfall and pond from the first property and started fanticizing about putting one in at this property. So fast forward to June of 2020 when I hired a "landscaper" to completely relandscape my slopped yard (I live on a hill) AND he said he could do the waterfall and pond too. 10 MONTHS later he was only 90% done with the landscaping and 75% done with the pond & waterfall. Sadly, the water feature looked atrocious and completely unprofessional! So on April 2, 2021, I FIRED the bozo!!! ENTER MY KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR!!!.... That same day that I fired my landscaper (who, btw, did do a great job on the actual landscaping but the pond and waterfall were a complete eyesore), I called Pond Works and spoke to Lance and he happened to be near my home giving an estimate so he said he could come over right afterwards and he did. About 1 hour later, he had arrived. He did say he could finish what the other guy started but said there would likely be leaks and issues within a year and I'd have to tear it all out so of course he couldn't warranty his work. Given my property is on a hill and supported by multiple retaining walls, I couldn't afford to take the risk of major erosion. And having seen what a professional waterfall and pond should look like, I already knew there were many flaws in the work my previous guy had done! So I asked Lance how much it would cost to tear it all out and start over. He gave me a very fair quote. I then said my mom's 75th birthday was April 16th and I was throwing her a surprise party on the 17th, so I wanted it done by the 16th. He said he was wrapping up a job and could start on mine afterwards and would be able to finish in... FIVE DAYS!!!! Not weeks and not months! 5 DAYS!!! I immediately said yes, how do I give you a deposit to secure the date? He sent over an estimate the next day. I sent my deposit and we locked in Mon. April 12, 2021 as a start date. I expected a team of men to arrive that Monday but it was only Lance and his brother, Sean. Honestly, I still can't believe what these 2 men accomplished in just 5 days! They tore everything out, brought more dirt and rocks and by Fri April 16, 2021, they were done! 6 hours/day x 5 days = 30 hours x2 people = 60 hours! Ahhh-mazzz-ing!!!! WORDS CAN'T EVEN DESCRIBE HOW ELATED I WAS TO FINNNAAALLLY HAVE THIS PROJECT DONE! AND, MORE IMPORTANTLY, to see the spectacular end result!!!! I put my full faith in them and they showed up every day and made it happen. I could see Lance thinking as he would piece together the design in his mind. He would verbally explain his plans but seeing it come together was amazing!!! And, on Friday, they brought the plants and my 6 new koi... who are now respectfully named: Bojangles, Braveheart, Goldilocks, Rhett, Scarlett & Dreamer. I am so in LOVE with my water features! They literally knocked it out of the park! Though the waterfall looks like it passes under the walkway into the pond, they are 2 seperate water features that were so masterfully designed you'd never guess they were seperate (btw, the first guy DID have them connected under the walkway but Lance felt there could be too many issues with that in the future so I trusted him). TRUST ME WHEN I SAY, IF YOU HIRE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR WATER FEATURE, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! Their price is FAIR, their design is SPECTACULAR and their professionalism and ability to keep their word is truly PRICELESS!!

    Fish are so happy!!!!!

WOW. I have had my pond for several years. Many people have taken care of the bi-annual maintenance. Lance is by far the best I have had. My pond has never looked this good. Do yourself a favor and hire him for whatever you need. He is a great young man, with a bright future.

We bought a home with a pond where the previous owner neglected cleaning it for 10 years. Being first time pond owners we were very nervous how much this would cost us. We reached out to several companies and they said it was to big of a job and not worth it for them. We got in touch with Lance from Pond Works and he came over and gave us his knowledge on ponds and gave us a quote. Him and his son came right away to start cleaning it out and 2 days of hard work and a bigger job than anticipated we are left with a beautiful looking pond where our fishes are thriving! Even a week later Lance stayed in touch and came out and help install a new pond filter he had recommended. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND POND WORKS!

Our ponds needed a complete overhaul. We needed a pond clean out, new pumps, a Biofalls filter, not to mention other additional work and equipment. This was a big project. I met Lance for the initial quote, was impressed by his knowledge and satisfied with the price given. He did an excellent job. He was a professional throughout the process. He went above and beyond what he had promised. We are very happy and satisfied with the results. We can finally enjoy our ponds again.

We are beyond impressed and happy with Pond Works! We had a leak in our pond that was an ongoing mystery. We texted Lance (the owner) and he responded within an hour, stopped by the following morning to give us an estimate. It was obvious he knew what he was talking about by his experience and professionalism. He drained our pond & replaced the liner for a very fair price and in a timely fashion. And most importantly he resolved the problem! It's rare to find someone who is a person of their word and doesn't try to rip you off or push extra things that need to be done. My husband is super OCD and he was extremely happy with his work as well. Hands down we would trust him with any pond issues in the future. Thanks again Lance!

What we see is a raingarden with coral bells and blue-eyed grass, a mounded berm ringed by manzanita and penstemon, and paths of creeping thyme that Dan and his team created for us. We removed 2146 sq ft of lawn. Our landscape was completed within budget and on time. The Green Grounds team is friendly, punctual, mindful of wearing masks during Covid, and left the site tidy and clean each afternoon. The outdoor bathroom arrived one day prior to when the work was scheduled to begin, and the delivery of dumpster, soil, mulch, plants, and dumpster removal all unfolded as a residential street ballet. Our initial goal was to replace the lawn with a water-efficient landscape with support from the DWP incentive program that offered a $3 for each square foot of turf removed. I provided Dan with a garden plan drawn with colored pencils, detailed comments, some questions, and a list of my favorite drought-tolerant California-friendly plants. Dan patiently responded to my detailed questions about irrigation strategies, design considerations, materials, plants, and codes promptly, line-by-line in my long emails. He provided suggestions based on his experience, brought up considerations, and guided us through the landscape project process. I must emphasize Dan and his team went above and beyond expectations. I will list some examples. 1. An old, neglected, formless and overgrown Yucca tree in our backyard was transformed it into a living sculpture. 2. Blobs of old (excess) concrete at the base of a wall were jackhammered out to create a wider planting bed for the future vegetable garden and sideyard. 3. The team leader noticed a piece of our St. Catherine's Lace plant had broken off, so he took it and planted it in an appropriate spot nearby, saving the cutting and starting a new plant. 4. Our raised beds (that already contained existing vegetables) were surgically fitted with miniature bespoke irrigation systems. I did not expect the Yucca transformation, removing the blobs of concrete, nor for that broken-off piece of our St. Catherine's Lace to be given a second life. These were not spelled out anywhere in our contract. To me, these actions demonstrate care and connection to the garden that was being created. This is kind of wonderful. Dan also provided us an attractive selection of rock, boulder, and mulch samples, later surprising us by bringing by boulders that worked well with the Honey Quartz gravel for the raingarden in both color and scale. Decisions around where to place irrigation controls were solid and logical: the drip irrigation valves were placed in the least obtrusive location in the back of the house, and the smart controller was placed in a location that was easy for us to access. I had not expected an impromptu collaboration making a landscape with Dan and his team. We just wanted to get rid of the terrible, water-wasting lawn. Not only was it thrilling to see my garden design made real, but the experience also turned out to be super-neat. Thank you Dan and Green Grounds!

He made the whole experience exciting. Getting the design is 100% worth getting, once we received the design it truly captured our dream space. The level of professionalism remained constant from beginning to end. There were no surprises and the schedule was spot on. Owen's crews are incredible and hands down the hardest working group we have ever worked with, they worked Monday-Saturday, his foreman knew exactly what was expected and they delivered. We added some extras, a custom fence, security door and gate. Those extra items did not delay our project at all. Owen and his crew truly built our dream yard. We asked for a place that felt peaceful, relaxing and just a very zen and meditative feeling/look. We got that and more. We went from not enjoying our backyard to being outside everyday since they left. It's beautiful and suits us. We are so grateful.
