Every single "sales person" , not contractor himself, was unknowledgeable, didn't have sufficient pictures, understanding of the project scope, hasty to get a deposit until my wife found Chad. Chad, Mauricio and crew built our dream natural pool in May 2022. From start to finish the project was completed in 6 weeks. The crew was at the house every day on time and worked hard to complete the build. We converted our 20,000 gallon swimming pool to a 10,000 gallon natural pool and we couldn't be happier. I have nothing but great things to say about Chad and his crew Chuy and Mauricio. They did an awesome job installing my koi pond, cleaning everything up and adding in the additional plants I asked for. Bottom line - I couldn't be happier with Chad and this whole team.   This all started about 5 months ago, I got a bit overwhelmed with all of the different information online, so I decided to call California Waterscapes to help me sort this out. Their office staff were VERY knowledgeable on ponds and talked to me for over 30 minutes about all of the biology of the water - it was impressive. This was a deciding factor for me, knowing that they really knew what they were talking about, and you could tell the passion they had for their product, so I had them come out to give me an estimate.... The construction only took 3-4 days, and they were only really "loud" for the first day when they used power tools to dig out the area. They really cleaned up the space when they finished and were very respectful of my home. This project cost me just under $12,000, it would have been about $10k (he gave me 2 options), but I picked the one with the extra long stream/waterfall (see my photo). Worth every penny! I had a good experience through the whole construction process with this company. Only took the guys 3 days of actual labor work to finish. Its 12 x 8 pond with a stream/waterfall. I went with these guys over another company (that I won't name), because Chad seemed to understand my vision better, I felt he had a good knowledge what he does, just seemed more professional. The crew was respectful of my home, I was a bit worried that dirt and trash would be left over, but you really couldn't tell that anything major had just been done, besides obviously a pond appearing ha ha. My dogs immediately jump in the pond and sit in the stream when I let them out, it's great having something to look at other than a lawn in my backyard now, and now my dogs are not very excited to leave the house anymore... neither am I.... ha ha! read more

10/10 recommend! I just bought a home in Simi Valley and it came with an old 90's style concrete koi pond/ fountain - leaking, ugly fake rock - you name it. I did some research on what my options were and decided to go with the natural/real rock Aquascape "liner" method. I decided to go with Chad because he was very knowledgeable and I liked really liked his design the best. He actually left me with a pretty nice sketch of my backyard and what it would look like when completed, which was impressive. Long story short, the project took about 3 days to finish. A WORK OF ART When we decided to renovate our backyard we wanted something that was different than the ordinary backyard with a pool. In the mid 1970's my parents purchase this home which included a pond which I grew up caring for. With my daughters wedding scheduled to be in my backyard in November, I decided it was time to upgrade the old pond. I began by interviewing several contractors before going with Chad. Chad was supposed to come out for an estimate on Tuesday. He called the day before and said he had to attend a school function and cannot make it. We rescheduled for Wednesday. He never showed up for the appointment and called 1/2 hour later stating that his wife called and he has to deal with the kids. He apologized but further stated that my project is a bit far out of their area (about an hour) and that it is best that I find another company. They should have said that to begin with and not have me arrange my schedule to accomodate their appointment and they don't even show up. While this company may have beautiful ponds they are a bit flaky and will use kids as an excuse not to show up to your appointment. Fathers should be a work doing their job, the mothers should be taking care of the kids and going to their events. And this is all coming from a woman! read more

We needed to have our pond serviced after 5 years. John and David came out and did a fantastic job. They drained the pond, removed our Koi and placed them in large tubs. They even found our frog. They not only cleaned out the pond, but took out vegetation that had over grown. All of the algae was removed along with the pond sludge. They conditioned the water and replaced the fish and frog. The fish were fine, and were eating the same day (not traumatized at all). I highly recommend them along with California Waterscapes. They did a fantastic job quickly and efficiently. The Waterscape team has been a joy to work with on the upkeep and design of a water stream. The system recycles water in a reservoir to pump water up and down a hill that is operated by a remote control. Tea lights illuminate the stream at night through a sensor that detects when it is dark outside. Furthermore, the plants are thriving, rain water is funneled into the yard and now I have water and electricity (installed with Optimum surveillance) in the yard to grow a garden on a drip system. We did a pretty substantial remodel of our backyard to add a large spa and fire pit, and at the last minute we splurged and added a waterfall and pondless stream by California Waterscapes. This ended up being our favorite feature! The sound of of the running water makes the backyard a very tranquil place and we can hear the waterfall in our bedroom at night when we open the windows. It really makes the backyard a completely different space and draws you in. Chad did a great job of constructing something that blends in but still makes for a dramatic feature. The stream has been in now for about two months and the plants that Chad selected are growing in nicely. It has been completely maintenance free with a autofill that keeps the water level correct and an automatic dosing system that adds beneficial bacteria to keep the water clear of algae. You can tell that he is very much a professional and has done this many many times. We had a pretty rough concrete fountain that had been intermittently worked on and sat unused for approximately 6 years! Well John and team were not scared off by this and worked for a whole month to get it working again! We are so happy to finally have a working fountain, and not just a concrete hole in the ground. John has been super helpful in educating me on what to do on my end to take care of our new water feature. I now have him come every other week to help maintain it. I've always dreamed of having a babbling brook in my backyard where I can both have a seating area to escape to and also still see and hear it from the house. I had called for a cleanout of my pond as I had used them in the past and was pleased. David came out to do the job and was very helpful and did a very good and comprehensive cleaning and trimming of the Taro and other plants.
