I told the cashier I had been waiting five minutes and no one even acknowledge that I was there. With an attitude her response was he's training and making a sandwich. (the sandwich must have been a to go order because no one else was waiting in line). So you can't just lift your head for a second and acknowledge a customer. This wasn't the first time I received this type of service here, but it will be my last at this store. Today was the last day this store will ever get my business including even purchasing gas. Totally disgusted with the type of work ethic these employees have. Must be an awful place to work if everyone is so rude and disrespectful.

Rather than pre-packaged sandwiches prepared somewhere, then shrink-wrapped and shipped in, here they make your sandwich right before your very eyes. One more interesting things about the deli - half sandwiches are on the menu. With my minimal appetite, that sounded like a good idea. Well, I couldn't finish a HALF sandwich! Yes, the portions are that large. I'm from Wisconsin. We take our dairy very seriously so of course, at a place with dairy in the name, I expected something pretty good. I found it, too. Kwik Trip, my favorite chocolate milk, your title of best chocolate milk is in jeopardy with the great chocolate milk from Pittsford Dairy. Pittsford Dairy, you better be aware of Byrne Dairy because their chocolate milk is also something remarkable. I'm not picking a winner here, but I will tell you that all three are better than anything I've found in a grocery store. (New Yorkers, Kwik Trip is a mid-west chain based in Wisconsin.) I like this store! Now, I probably won't get back to Newark anytime soon, but it appears Byrne Dairy is an up and coming chain that reminds me of Kwik Trip back home. There doesn't seem to be a store near my current location, but I will be watching for Byrne Dairy in my travels around Western New York.

I was next in line for a booth and needed a high chair so when I saw a girl cleaning one by an empty booth I felt it would be a courtesy to let her know before she had to move it twice. She snapped at me very curtly and I could not figure out what I had done so apologized. She continued in the same tone to me. Carried the chair away and then carried it right back when I sat down. Came off defiant. Hate to say it but just snarky. We then waited 40 minutes to place our order. They were busy but not slammed.. 2 BS on a bagel. 15 minutes later we were told they were out of bagels so we changed the bread choice. 10 minutes later we got bagels which did not look fresh but the worst of it was that is all my daughter got- not even cream cheese, She had ordered a breakfast sandwich! She spoke up kindly and the girl was like that was what you ordered and left. No offer to rectify it. It was made worse as we never even got silverware to use to add jelly. I got one finger high splash of coffee the whole 1 plus hour. I was also charged $5 for bacon I never ordered and never got. The girl actually argued with me that I had indeed ordered it and had got it. I do not eat bacon and was finally getting ticked so she took it off the bill but let me know she did not like it. Let me sum it up. $21 got me a breakfast sandwich with no sides on a bagel that did not look appetizing and a cup of coffee that never got refilled except for literally one splash. It got my daughter a wrong order which the girl did not offer to correct and her bagel looked nasty like it was out dated. She could not add jelly as our silverware NEVER came. And I had to argue at the register for a refund on an item I never ordered and never received. I did get plenty of attitude and I did not leave my usual very generous tip. She did not even deserve the standard one I did give her. BAD experience! Bad food, nasty wait staff. I will not be back !

They also have a couple of specials, like the glazed pork chop, which is absolutely wonderful. Round that out with an extensive beer on tap list and you have a winner. I had a Genessee Mango Peach Kolsch, which was a great beer. After years of making fun of Genessee-branded beers I had to eat my words. Highly recommend trying it. The place itself is rustic and relatively quiet, even though they were quite busy. The service was great and friendly, the close-caption TVs were tuned to the Padres game - 2,500 miles from San Diego and we still got to watch our hometown team. The kitchen was a little slow turning out dishes, so when my wife's Pesto Pasta turned out to be something else, she didn't even say anything. It was a pasta dish, just not Pesto and she said it was very good, just not what she ordered, which cost Parker's the one star.
