Our son & daughter in law just went to South Korea a couple months ago. They were excited to find Ponto because the buns taste exactly like they had in Seoul! They took us there and we enjoyed several of their delicious baked goods as well as drinks. My iced coffee with a cream top was pretty good. The coffee was as a little strong but I really enjoyed the cream top. My daughter in law had the strawberry matcha and liked it a lot and my son had the sparkling yuzu, which he thought was tasty. The thick pulp & peel gets a little stuck in the straw though. I would go back for the buns. They are crispy on the outside but soft inside. They reminded me of a croissant only without all the laminated layers. But they taste buttery and rich (the just right kind of rich, not too much). Everything has a little coarse salt on top, which I loved. The original was great, as was the chocolate, and the cream one had delicate whipped cream that oozed out when you bite into it. We ordered the matcha cream top, the mentaiko and the berry cream salt bread and I have to say the mentaiko was definitely the start of the show. The flavors blended so smoothly and it was such a unique taste that I can definitely foresee myself craving and coming back for it! That being said, while the berry cream is a classic it wasn't anything too special (though we did get if freshly baked and it was warm with just the right about of crisp and saltiness). The matcha was a big disappointment - the cream top definitely detracted from the matcha notes to the point where I couldn't really taste the matcha at all. Service was amazing and the staff were quick to give us suggestions on what to order when we were torn between flavors. The interior was minimal and aesthetic and I loved spending the morning here relaxing in the sun. Came on a Sunday morning and there was no wait at all! It's best when it's fresh and warm, but they even provide instructions on how to specifically warm up your treats for later. Everything about this place is well thought out. The interior is clean, bright and minimal. The salt bread treats are popular and some items tend to run out quickly. We got the garlic butter, strawberry, and a cinnamon sugar salt breads. This is a new bakery, opened in 2026. Clean, modern, minimalist interior. Each bread is baked and filled to perfection, so they look great. Savory and sweet flavors available. Drinks and coffee also available. With all that said, I took a star off for taste and price ratio. I've ate every flavor available at Ponto, some more than once. Some flavors are mediocre for what you're paying. I look for the best bakeries all over the world so perhaps my standard is higher. The breads are not large nor dense. You can probably eat 2+ for a snack. Hence I would say this is on the more expensive side for what you're getting. Best to eat the breads fresh. After coming back from a recent trip in South Korea, I was craving some salt bread. I finally had the chance to try Ponto on a Friday afternoon and was elated to see that they weren't sold out yet. The place and packaging is very aesthetically pleasing and the service was super sweet. We ordered the original, pure milk cream, berry milk cream, and a matcha cream top. The salt breads were soft and fluffy but it did not have the signature crisp butter-y base that I was expecting. This was even more evident in the cream base salt breads as the cream made the bread a bit too soft and lacked texture in my opinion. The matcha cream top was adequate since the sweet cream top made the overall taste profile too dairy-forward and I wasn't able to appreciate the matcha notes. Got there about 40 min before opening on a sunday (easter) and probably had about 50 people in front of me. The line moved at a steady pace so wasnt too bad and dont get worried about the limited quantity you see the case as they have more in the back....that being said there was probably another 200 people behind me once they opened and grew to maybe 300 when I left after getting my box (line was stacked down to NE14th) so imagine a good number didnt get any even with the 4 limit per person. The original and berry were the best. The cream is very light and none are too sweet. The mocha and Nutella I'd pass on as their toppings didnt seem to work well with the rest of bun texture and taste. Stopped by Ponto hoping to try their pastries, but apparently they tend to sell out by around 11am/noon so we just missed them. Honestly though, the smell inside the shop told me everything I needed to know about how good they probably are. I ordered a matcha, and the staff was incredibly kind -- after making it, they even asked if I wanted the sweetness adjusted at all, which I really appreciated. The sweetness level ended up being perfect. My only issue was that the matcha powder wasn't mixed super well, so there were small clumps of powder floating throughout the drink. This place is new and was overwhelmed by the buzz when it initially opened, so they had to close and regroup. But they've reopened and there's still a lot of buzz. Still, after waiting in line for 50 minutes one weekday morning, I would say it's worth the wait. Ponto sells Korean salt bread, which is super popular in Korea (and also in the San Francisco Bay Area). They make the original plain and then an assortment of other unique flavors, some savory and some sweet. Salt bread looks like a croissant but isn't flakey. It is very buttery to give it a soft and light texture. It's airy inside and you get a kick of the salt flavor, but very slight. I tried the "everything" salt bread because they were out of the original and I wanted to try something simple to get a sense of salt bread and it was great. Then I had the strawberry and milk cream, and it was great too although a bit challenging to eat with all the cream stuffed inside, and topped with beautifully large strawberry slices. I also got the strawberry matcha latte and it tasted good (I subbed with oat milk) although tricky to drink because of the strawberry chunks that clogged the straw. The line moves a bit slow, but that's because they put a lot of attention to detail and they treat each guest like you're the only customer. The interior is small with a few tables, but because they're limiting the people going in, it doesn't feel crowded or overwhelming. So tasty! We got there around 8:15 and were third in line for the 9:00 am bread. They were having some issues that had them limit the supply to only 100 today, and a limit of 2 per person. Went on a thursday during opening and only a couple of people in front of me. Even though there was only a couple of people in front of me the wait was still about 15+ minutes with 3 workers present... But they're new so i'm sure they're still trying to find what works best for them, there's always room for future improvement! Deceptive Service Practices. Today (7/25/26), no later than 11:20 AM, my dad and I arrived at Ponto. We ordered five items that came up to $32. Before my dad clicked on the tip screen or made the payment, he saw that the total was $37 and had the employee redo the order, bringing the price back down to $32. From this experience, it appears the employee used misleading tactics to force a customer to tip. What made it even worse is that the employee didn't say a word. They didn't come up with an excuse or apologize. I hope the camera behind the counter captured what happened, as this is a serious issue.
