    Mango

Mango Cloud piece was good, light, creamy, and fluffy. But nothing out of this world. They were out of smoothies and -ades. Which is was I came in for, unfortunately. The guy inside was plenty nice enough but I was just disappointed cause it wasn't close to closing and it was hot.

I recently had one of the most amazing pastries of my whole entire life at Tous Les Jours. While I was waiting for my cousin to fly in to Portland, I decided to explore the light rail, and ended up in this super bougie upscale restaurant strip. I followed my nose to the long line at Tous Les Jours, where I ordered a mango "donut." This was no donut. This was on another level. It was better than the softest, freshest, warmest beignet ever. The mango cream inside was absolutely phenomenal. I texted my cousin, "I just had the best donut of my whole entire life." There were posters depicting a new summer mango drink, and I tried to order it, but was told it wasn't available yet. I would definitely want to try that and one of their other pastries next time I come back. The ambiance is super bougie and Instagrammable. One whole wall was open to the street facing the train. There were about seven to ten other restaurants in the same strip with the same theme.

Tons of macaroon flavors. Very good.

This was just outside our hotel (the Ritz) and had beautiful sweets and macaroons and pastries as well as shaken milk and Japanese milk trays, coffee and croissant sandwiches. We needed something for long that was fast and this worked out really well. Staff were friendly and quick and everything was delicious. We tried several macaroons, a tea, and two croissant turkey sandwiches. Both delish!

My friend and I were walking around Portland for the first time and randomly stumbled on this cute little cafe. The desserts and pastries instantly caught our attention, and as a total sucker for sweets, I had to stop. I tried the ube donut, which had a soft, cloud-like texture and was unlike any donut I've had before. It was amazing. I also got a seasonal iced latte that was delicious. I wish we had cafes like this back home!

Order: tiramisu Pros: the dessert was decadent, rich, flavorful, and not overly sweet. The location is a great spot connected to the Ritz Carlton and the new food court. I can see them doing great business here. Service was also amazing and the ambiance was cute. Cons: n/a

Some of the BEST desserts I've ever had! Everything we've tried is delicious, and all of it seems so much lighter than heavy pastries. The cloud cake is incredible, as is the strawberry whipped cream croissant. Today we tried the raspberry cream donut and peach cream cake -- both to die for! I hate that I love this place so much--it's IMPOSSIBLE to resist--but soooo worth the indulgence!

Walking in less than an hour before closing, we were surprised to see most of the items still in stock! We ended up picking four things to try: Vanilla Bean Kouign Amann ($7) - This pasty has a sweet yet salty exterior that's complementary in flavor rather than clashing. It's accentuated with a crunchy glazed and caramelized sugar layer that's on the sweeter side. The interior is interesting. There's a cavernous gap right in the center that's filled with a sickly sweet melted sugar syrup. It's unpleasantly sweet and very cloying. The puffed and filled area is large enough that it compresses the other layers so the kouign amann is dense. I've never had a kouign amann quite this sweet before. (3/5) Meyer Lemon Olive Oil Cake with Thyme ($5.50) - This cake is so moist and rich, thick and dense, fatty and rich, that it feels like I"m eating a slab of butter. I'm sure it has just as many calories too! It's quite sweet, although not nearly to the level of the kouign amann. Overall, it's just a really rich and decadent cake. (4/5) Blueberry + Vanilla Cream Brioche Donut w/ Earl Grey ($6) - The top of the pastry is dressed with a cream that has an unmistakably strong bergomot earl grey taste. I wish there was way more cream - there's essentially only a dab on top! The rest of the donut is filled with a custardy light blueberry and vanilla jam. It's not too sweet and has an excellent high quality blueberry fragrance, creating an exceptionally strong blueberry taste. The jam is not too thick and is somewhat syrupy from sugar. The donut itself is really soft and extremely airy. It's the fluffiest donut I've eaten in a long time. (5/5) Raspberry Rose Cruffin ($8.50) - This pastry has some fun dehydrated raspberries sprinkled right on top of a light and fluffy cream that's not too sweet. The cruffin base is buttery in taste and great lamination even when filled with the custard and rose/raspberry cream. This is a heavy cruffin that's very filling. (5/5) Twisted Croissant certainly does some some really delectable treats. It's one of my favorite bakeries in Portland!

Crispy, airy, buttery and oh, so delicate, my raspberry cruffin was the dessert dreams are made of! If you've never had a cruffin... what are you waiting for?! It's croissant dough baked into a muffin shape. And the particular version I ordered today was filled with sweet and creamy vanilla custard and raspberry jelly. My mouth is watering describing this now, a true sign I'll be returning to experience this delicacy time and time again. There are three locations of Twisted Croissant in Portland, and this is the only one I've visited. The interior has a classic Parisian bakery vibe, clad in white subway tile from floor to ceiling. The bakery case in front of the store is beautifully stocked with fresh pastries, perfect for enjoying with a cup of coffee or tea. However, be advised, there are only two tables in the back of their public space, so it's not particularly inviting space to sit and enjoy your breakfast. Given the location, I assume there is outdoor seating in the summer months, but don't quote me on that. Regardless, run here if you haven't been. These baked goods are worth the visit!

They have a great selection of pastries. The croissants are so amazing. You can tell it's a good croissant from all the fluffy layers. It's got a good egg wash on top which makes it crispy on top and soft and buttery on the inside. I also had to get the tiramisu latte. It was made to perfection. I like my coffee sweet so this was right up my ally. I also got a cookie and brownie. When you heat up the cookie and brownie a bit, it's a little taste of heaven! If you're in the area, don't sleep on this place. It's a must try!

It was light, airy, and the butter taste was not overpowering. It was fantastic! Yes, this area is a little more $$ but it's worth going and if I ever drop by an Artisserie Fine Bakery, I will get it (and try their other goodies, too!)
