She was patient and very good at redirecting my son. He's not one for someone touching his hair but she was able to get him to cooperate and really worked with him. Such a great experience for my daughters first hair cut. The entire salon is meant for little kids with a super fun waiting area and carousals as haircut chairs. On top of that, my daughters haircut was so cute. She cut a little bit at a time to make sure it was what we wanted. The sweetest part is that she gives a certificate with a clip of her hair. She owns the business on her own so give her patience with booking. There is no online booking service - you call, leave a VM, and she calls back. And appointments are about a month out. read more

I have been taking my kids to Talyta since they were babies so it has been 12 years! Consistently great haircuts for my daughter and my son. So good in fact, that I started to have her cut my hair. I have been going for the last few months and I have to say that this is really the first time I've been in love with my hair! We started going to Pony Tails years ago when my son was young and they were in Lafayette. They've moved to Pleasant Hill and it's a much nicer space. The location is tough though; it's in the back of a shopping center near TJ Maxx on Pleasant Hill road. It's worth scoping out though. My daughter has very curly hair and the stylist does a great job with it. They'll braid it, put a feather in and they've got a great selection of bows for the girls. There's a nice size space for kids to play while they're waiting or for siblings to play in. Parking wasn't an issue and we got in and out on time. It's hard to find a stylist that can cut both boys and girls hair, that is also kid-friendly. Pony Tails hits all the marks! I've been taking my son and daughter here since they were babies. Talyta is amazing! She is extremely gentle (doesn't use clippers until the kids are older, associates them with the clippers before using them, gently directs their heads). The set up is kid friendly with lots of fun toys and the additional motivation of a post (or during!) haircut lollipop. She also takes her time (but not so much that your kid gets squiggly) to assess the children's hair and growth, so that they have the best style possible. Appointments are a bit challenging, like any good salon. I've tried other places, but truly feel that Talyta is the best! read more
