Not sure what happened to this company. I believe someone else bought it over the past year. I've been taking my dog here since I first got her nine years ago. I very specifically ask that they NOT cut the hair on the top of her head. As an Aussie Doodle, when she gets that Spring trim, its always been a part of her character to have the long hair on top. Again, in 9 years, she's never been trimmed up there. As usual, I dropped her off and specifically gave directions. They took pictures from my phone of how exactly I wanted her top trimmed and I left her. About an hour later, I get a call saying they want to trim her head. I thanked them for asking but again, specifically told them NOT to trim her head. When I pick her up, the guy at the desk sheepishly says the groomer shaved her head anyway. WHAT??!!?? How many times to you need to give direction? I asked to see the groomer himself who came out to meet me. He simply didn't care, have an excuse or any remorse. Who the hell does he think he is? Not only that, but the top of her head has a giant cut that took a month to heal into a giant scab. I asked to speak with the owner, who basically didn't really think it was a big deal. WHAT??!? When you leave your beloved dog with a groomer, it's a matter of trust. They certainly betrayed that trust. As far as I'm concerned, this place is lucky I'm not suing them for injuring my dog and not giving two s--ts about my wishes. They certainly could have given me the choice of NOT taking her there if they didn't want to follow my direction. Absolutely appalling service. There's a lot of companies out there willing to respect their clients' trust. Never again. read more

The service we requested wasn't terrible, so this review is mostly based off of the customer service we received. I wasn't there when my boyfriend dropped our dog off, but he called me right after and was extremely worried. This building isn't the nicest according to him (which doesn't deter me because it's not like it's in a sketchy neighborhood or anything) but what bothered him the most was the person that helped him check in and how small the building was. The back, where the dogs are presumably kept, was easily visible from the front store and it seemed super packed. When I went I agreed, didn't seem like a whole lot of room for the dogs but hey, maybe there was more we weren't seeing? The guy that helped my boyfriend wasn't friendly at all. I think he was the owner based off of other reviews. Maybe he was stressed because it seemed to be only him there but no smile or even a "Hi how can I help you?" He just took our dog and our boyfriend gave him his info and weirdly, the guy had my boyfriend remove our dog's collar and harness. THAT is concerning to me. Why do that? Because they can't do it themselves? If they can't handle removing a dog's collar or harness then what does that say about how they handle grooming them? I was there when we picked our dog up and while the building isn't as bad as my boyfriend made it out to be, there is only street parking so it wasn't very convenient. There were two young women that helped us check out and their service was sliiiiightly better. One didn't say anything and just stared at us the whole time - she went back and got our dog but just??? Let her out?? Like thank goodness no one was coming in the front door because since our dog didn't have her leash, she could've escaped! At other grooming salons they usually are holding our dog and hand her over. Our dog isn't even very big, she's a 15 pound terrier. But this woman just let her out. That was a big red flag. Again, thankfully no one was entering or leaving the store when this happened. The other woman who ACTUALLY helped us was nice, but wore her mask under her chin. If you're not going to wear your mask at all times when working then please at least wear it for the 10 minutes a customer is present. I can't believe that needs to be said. She had us fill out paperwork we were supposed to have filled out when checking our dog in but I honestly shouldn't have wasted her time doing that because we don't plan on coming back. Overall, I do NOT recommend this place. Yes, our dog was bathed and the service rendered was just fine but we were also only asking for the most basic bathing service - how can anyone mess that up. Again, this review is mostly based on their customer service. I consider it bad enough to not go back again. There are plenty of other pet salons that can do the job correctly AND be pleasant/professional while doing so. read more

We used to go to Pooch Pawlor regularly before Covid, but it seems that the quality has gone down tremendously based off our most recent visit. We brought our huskie along with his sibling there, specified that we wanted to make sure they would be groomed out, and unfortunately they didn't even seem to be slightly brushed out - upon bringing them home we went through three vacuum cans worth of hair we brushed out (per dog). Also not all the nails were trimmed on each dog, which is puzzling because on some legs it was complete, and on others they were not. We would have gladly paid an extra premium if there was an additional (although we already paid for the bath + de-shedding) service for dogs of this type or level of hair - but alas now we are tasked with finding a new groomer as we're hesitant to spend a couple hundred dollars to repeat the same negative experience. I do hope that they get better and back on track with how they used to be before. read more

I have been to several spa's for my Pomeranian and this has been by far my worst experience. I came in to get my Pomeranian a light trim and requested they do not cut his hair around his chest and ears. To my shocking and traumatic surprise, THEY SHAVED MY POMERANIAN TO THE SKIN! Any knowledgeable groomer would know the absolute worst thing you can do to a Pomeranians hair is to shave it- because the hair will not grow back. It has been several months since my dog was shaven and his hair has not grown back the same since. Nobody- including the owner- took accountability for this reckless act. Not even a simple apology. This place sucks!!! My dog did not get the trim I asked for. It's like they just took the clippers and shaved him. My dog is a schnauzer puppy. They have long eyebrows. They didn't even trim those evenly. While I was there picking up my dog another dog had a seizure. The poor thing must have been overly stressed. The owner of the dog was there crying on the floor, yelling out her dogs name Lucky, while the dog laid there practically lifeless. The groomers were standing around not knowing what to do in emergency situation. All one groomer did was yell at the other one. Telling him to go home. While clearly he was just trying to offer to drive the lady and her dog to the nearest vet place in Glendale. Why would he tell him to go home? Made no sense, given the situation at hand. I hope the dog Lucky is ok and alive. I heart went out to that woman. This place clearly needs to train their employees on emergency situations. As well as listening to the owners grooming requests. My dog looked nothing like the picture I showed them. I would rather get an honest groomer tell me "Not possible". Rather than just say "ok" and just do whatever cut they feel like giving my dog. read more

In the 12 years we have had Coco groomed this has to be the only bad and the most horrible cut she has ever had. Coco has always sported a beautiful lion cut, which suits her beautifully. We requested the same lion cut she has had forever (see below pics) and instead the groomer completely shaved her, including her head and mane. The original cut simply needed to be followed, there was no need to not only destroy her haicut, shave her or leave uneven shaven spots. The only part left untouched, was the tip of her tail, which was not even trimmed. Her mid tail however has a shaved burn mark. Horrendously bad. 10/29 Update, in response to the owner's comment in which he refuses to take any responsibility for the horrendous grooming and haircut, in fact he is not even aware of our dogs gender. After receiving the response from the business owner, I am even more upset. Under NO circumstances ever would anyone perceive the cut Coco received from you to be a lion cut. No wonder there is no attention to detail given during the grooming process, if you can not even differentiate the difference between a female and a male dog. Coco is and has always been a female dog. Additionally, in regards to the patchy, uneven spots, allow me to add more photos to accurately show that this is indeed CUT related and in no way a health issue. Such a traumatic experience. I came in and requested a LIGHT trim for my pomeranian and requested they do not cut his hair around the chest and hair. When I picked him up, he was completely SHAVED down to the skin! Pomeranian 101 - you NEVER shave a pomeranian!!!! The front desk is ran by little teenage girls who know absolutely nothing about animals, grooming, or customer service. Obviously, the groomer didn't know better either. Naturally the owner agreed I did not need to pay for botched job they did. This happened a few months ago, and my dog's hair has not grown back normally since. Over 10 years I brought my dog here and it really pains me to write this cuz I absolutely loved the front desk staff. I waited a few months to write this. So here is my honest review. I understand getting nicked sometimes, (it happens) especially when there's so much noise and a lot of dogs and all that. But the last time I went was the worst. My dog is 16, and is sensitive and wiggly. He had a huge cut and to top it off, I got the worst attitude when I asked how was he? I got an eye roll and an "ugh, it wasn't great." Like ok, thank you. Not the first time I've gotten attitude, but I get the stress of the job. Anywho... Found a mobile groomer after searching, and am more than happy at the new place. Places like this where they overbook, don't care about senior dogs and their needs, they just wanna make money and groom a ton of animals as fast as possible.
