You can truly tell he cares about his employees and the shop--it has a great energy and welcoming vibe. They're even expanding, which is so exciting to see! 1st Customer Service, Availability, Completion, Communication, Charles Higgins took the order from CHW CHOICE HOME WARRANTY came on Wednesday June 24th and left, no communication pool wasn't repaired fully . CHW INFORMED ME That POOLSIDE POOL SUPPLY Charles Higgins had submitted additional work and the dollar amount was in question for the repairs however, on that same day, Charles emailed that the work had been completed? CHW Informed me that on Saturday June 27, that Charles Higgins the owner had received the authorization and he completed the work on that day, Not True, and I was still awaiting a reply because he was not available till the following week so that was untrue. I also emailed Kaylee to send me a receipt for the cash payment of $100.00 given to Charles on that Wednesday June 24, 2026 which I shouldn't have to request it They should've just sent it immediately receiving the cash or paper receipt The leaking had worsen. Charles the owner and is always the tech himself was booked had he could not return until the following week which was 29th Charles came by I guess the gate was unlocked as camera showed him taking photographs the equipment stating that he had done the repairs which is untrue maybe 10 mins if that taking his photos. So we had already hired a professional POOL SERVICE Co. to come out and repair it as we were not going to have all that leaking going on all weekend including the two additional days during the week. We should've been a *Priority as this should not have been leaking period!! Whether he moved cut shifted reset etc. pvc piping I don't know, however, Charles's caused it. He now claims he never touched it. It was not about money. It was about the customer service and the repair that was needed. I don't know if CHW paid Charles twice double or just extra additional work Charles knows exactly what he Submitted that he claimed. I don't know that's between them however, this is what actually happened. I do recall reading negative feedback here as well with this PoolSide Pool Supply Service with Charles Higgins. The worst!! They should be called "No Show Pool Co". This was warranty work through a home warranty company, so I could not choose the vendor. The motor was being replaced. Schedule multiple appoints and they were a no show, not even a call or text! Evetime they no showed, I had to make contact to get another appointment scheduled and they always had lots of excuses, but they never apologized or tried contacting me first. Finally show up after 5:30pm and worked on it, (probably only showed up because I reached out at like 4:30pm to see if they were still coming). I had dinner plans and had to leave before they finished. While at dinner, I received a call from them instructing me not to turn the pump on because it was leaking and that they would be there first thing in the morning to fix it. The next day came and went but they were no shows again, surprise! I reached out to see what happened and he said he would come the next morning to do it, the next morning was Thanksgiving Day. He rings the doorbell and wakes up the entire house at 7am on a holiday, just to say he is there to go out back and work on it. He works on it for a bit and then says its good and leaves. A few days later I go look at it and no w it is leaking, which is a new problem and it never leaked before. He says its because he moved everything and the seal broke, but they will not fix it! I do NOT recommend them, a monkey would do better. read more

Let me start off with saying this company beat the competitors with knowledge, over the top customer service and friendliness! My husband visited the gentleman this morning-6/7/2024- with a problem with our pool filter. The core was broke and the filter was extremely dirty with some broken aspects. We were at a loss as to where to purchase these items since it's a new pump manufacturer and with not many distributors in town. My husband went to Poolside deflated and worried, but they really stepped up! Found the core needed and ordered the filter! Poolside knew we needed these parts asap since we're dealing with 104+ degree heat and you NEVER want your salt water pump down when it's that hot! We were in need of some chemicals and even though there were two ladies there neither showed any interest in helping us find what we needed.

My pool was covered with algae so it looked green and unable to see the bottom. PoolSide Pool supply and service center was assigned to fix this. The technican came, said that the filter was broken, and claimed that he already fixed it but my pool still remained green the next day. I called and asked them in which they said the pool was fixed and they would not come to re-evaluate, even though the insurance company that was assigned scheduled for them to come and fix. I called again to ask them the solution because my pool remained very green the entire time due to algae. They continued to say they were not aware but they said the pool should be fixed so they won't come again and hung up on me couple times. Since I got no solution from Poolside, I had to call a local pool supply to fix for me and paid out of pocket. This is terrible service. If I could give them a negative star, I would. I definitely do not recommend this place to anyone. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place to save you the trouble and frustration. read more

Charlie, the owner of Poolside, worked on our spa. Isolated the problem (electrical) and fixed it. He could have charge me and left but, he took the extra effort to test the sub pump. It worked fine. He checked the spa filter and water for chemical needs. The water needed adjustment and was accomplished. Charlie is very knowledgeable about spas. We called for a start-up service for our freshly replastered pool. We live about 30 miles away from the store, so we agreed to the very high rate, knowing there would be travel time/cost involved. We were supposed to receive 3x weekly service (M/W/F) for two weeks, with a full chemical balance at the end. Service happened for the first week. Second week, no-show. After waiting, and calling... we were finally told that they didn't show the second week "because it was winter and wouldn't hurt." The service came back on the third week, after we called to see where they were.. They promised to come back the following Monday to balance the chemicals. Guess what.... They did not show. So now we are back to the calling/waiting/excuse game. In the meantime I have received the invoice. I guess they can wait like we have! read more

Horrible pool service, we would not recommend. We were customers for a month and a half, paid the "start up" fee they said when needed because our pool water levels were not up to par. My husband was taking care of our pool prior to Poolside's service, we had just drained and refilled our pool, pool was clean and no shade of green or black algae. Within the month and half my husband had to call 4 times to ask about the service we were given or ask them to add more chemicals to keep our pool water clear between the weekly service visits. The tech would say they added certain chemicals like chlorine tablets we never found. We also had to purchase and add extra chemicals to keep our pool from turning green within the weekly service visits. The tech I talked to was uneducated about pools and was not sure what he needed to do to get rid of the greenness and black algae you see in the photos. We are no longer customers. read more

I came to Poolside to see if they had the small sized puddle jumper floatie and both employees were extremely helpful but unfortunately they did not have the size I was looking for. That is the only reason I gave them four stars instead of five. The two men asked if they could help me, they even looked in other spots in the store to make sure they didn't have the smaller size. They were very friendly and the store is very neat and tidy. If you are looking for the 30-50lb puddle jumper, they carry both girl and boy designs. Come and check them out if you are in the neighborhood, they have a lot of pool supplies for maintenance and for fun. read more

This review is for Poolside's monthly pool service. The pool service itself is fine, but be advised they make their margins on repairs. I bought a new house with a pool in Bakersfield in July 2019. The same month, I signed on with Poolside after seeing one of their ads for two months of free service. I was told the two free months would be Feb 2020 and July 2020 after paying for six months and one year of service, which was fine. Things went well for the first couple of months but then I started receiving frequent estimates for repairs. Granted, I had just purchased this house and didn't know the history but it felt a little odd that the pool equipment would require quite so many repairs. The tone of the estimates was also a little aggressive: they would always state that I had three days to reply to the e-mail or they would assume the estimate was accepted and I would pay for the repairs. I don't know about you but I'm busy and do not check e-mail that often sometimes... As a couple of other reviews have stated, the cost of the repairs often felt a little inflated in terms of both their materials and labor costs. And getting a new one every month or so was really cutting into my budget. Things culminated in late 2019 when I received two $100 estimates for leaks around my pool motor. I let the company know that I would prefer to just replace the whole motor with a variable speed pump and motor and solve the problems that way. I had had this done at my previous house for about $1200. The first estimate I received from Poolside was for $2137. I called and said this struck me as a little steep. I got a second estimate... for $1597. I called a couple of other companies for estimates and the highest one was a little over $1100. I ended up having the work done by another company for $1050... for the exact same pool pump and motor as Poolside's $1597 estimate. Poolside still insisted that I pay the first $100 estimate, saying they had done that work. I grumbled and did so. A couple of weeks later, I got a phone call from Charles (the owner of the company, I believe) first insinuating that my pool would need another repair, then saying that he'd been told about my new pool pump and asking me why I had gotten it done with another company. I was completely honest with him and told him flat-out that his company's estimate was much higher than other companies in Bakersfield. He said "if you can't trust us to do your repairs, we probably shouldn't do business together." All I could do was agree. He then stated he was canceling my service that day. This happened while their service tech was in my back yard and the tech told me that a repair for which I had received the latest repair estimate (yes, I got another estimate after I had the new pump put in) was not necessary. The company that replaced my pool pump is now my new pool service company. I never did get the first month of free service. So yeah, I would be cautious about using Poolside's monthly service. read more

I called my insurance for a leak near my pool motor . They assigned Poolside for the service. Their first technician came , was there for literally 2 minutes , took a photo and said he knows what it needs and what part to order and left . A month later the second technician comes with a replacement motor( old one), removes my working motor that was barely a year old and tries to fix the other . Then realizes the leak is outside the motor. So leaves with no motor working on the pool. Has ordered the so called part to stop the leak. It's been 6 weeks and they don't have a timeline when they can find the part because it's " an old motor". Meanwhile my pool is turned green . We have not been able to use it all summer. Damage is imminent. Despite multiple calls I get the same response " please be patient ". These people have no clue what they are doing and surely have no understanding about the secondary damages their actions are causing to the homeowners property. This has nothing to do with the pandemic. This is criminal negligence. They are providing misinformation to the insurance company that has contracted with them and homeowner is paying a price for having to deal with both these partners . read more

Went to this store because one sales person seemed to be knowledgeable about pool chemicals......then, hired them to do pool drain and chlorine wash...BIG MISTAKE!!! Horrible ,shoddy, work!! didn't even scrub the tile!! left dirty water in bottom of pool. complained to the owner....got informed that I would have to pay more$$$ to fix their bad job.
