I wish Popover wasn't so far away from Rocky Hill because I'd literally be stopping by daily. My friend had been hearing great things about Popover so we decided to head on over here for breakfast on Sunday. Oh my word is this place amazing. We both started off with some alcoholic beverages, I went with a cranberry pointsetta (mimosa) and Rachel built her own bloody mary with some adorable accoutrements. We both decided we wanted to try the spareribs eggs benedict and I swear that was one of the best benedicts I have ever eaten in my life. The meat juices with the hollandaise sauce were just heavenly. And the potatoes. Let's not forget about those. The seasoning that the chef used on these was just absolute fire. I've never had such flavorful brekkie potatoes in my life. But wait. There's more. We both split the puffiest popover I've ever seen, and I'm renaming them cornucopia's of love, because that's what these are, the popovers are GINORMOUS. We also split the eggnog french toast and wow. Just wow. We both aren't the biggest nog fans but it sounded so delightful and tasted so amazing I think I'm a convert on that front now. We washed everything down though with dessert coffee. And when I say dessert coffee, I mean the Winter Warmer: coffee, moon chai liqueur, coconut milk, and spiced rum. Heaven. I was in heaven. I also would be remiss if I did not note how impeccably clean the restaurant is. I felt very safe, the staff all wear masks, and their clean down method is perfect. The bathrooms had hand sanitizer in them when you first walked in and are incredibly clean and sterile as well. Had not heard of this place until a friend suggested we go there for brunch. Although, I did not get a popover my meal was quite delicious. It was pretty busy the day we arrived but our wait was probably about 15 minutes. There are tons of breakfast and lunch options. They also offered drink cocktails and spiked coffee. Great local place to get one of their "popover" bready brunch treats. The combinations are great and terrific, but the prices make this a once-in-a-while treat rather than a weekly affair. A single serving with tax and tip run over $20 a person, and our young boys still felt hungry at the end of the meal. Now, that doesn't mean that it isn't priced correctly for the work it takes, but the meal just left us feeling a bit underwhelmed for the price. With light fares for when you just need a little pick me up to filling options like sandwiches, eggs, salads, waffles, etc, you will 100% find what you need here. My go order to is the Chia Oat pudding, a warm popover with honey butter and an iced oat milk latte (but you can't go wrong with any of their options). The waitstaff here are so kind and helpful- answering any questions we had and abiding by our dietary restrictions as requested. They even brought out bacon and a bowl of water for my dog!! It was definitely busy when we arrived but we didn't have to wait at all. I like how they have tables and a long bench on the opposite to sit in. Being a bigger girl I enjoy not feeling like I'm squished and inconveniencing those walking behind me. I can't wait until Popover opens again in March! The giant popover that I had in January was so good! It came with honey butter and blueberry jam. I had no idea that popovers were so light and delicious. Popovers are particularly popular in New England cities. Like Yorkshire pudding, the batter is made from a simple combination of flour, salt, eggs, milk and butter. Popovers have been around since the year 1850 and now 170+ years later, I see why. Salads, sandwiches, wraps and hot bowls are all on the menu at Popover. Parking is a breeze too with a nice sized lot. Pam, the owner, really does such a great job. Staff is friendly and polite. We took the drive to try something new and different for breakfast while in Hartford, CT. My sister found Popover on Yelp, so we decided to trusted the rating--we all went for it! I was quite curious and then awestruck by the black rice porridge! Warm black rice, coconut milk, maple syrup, strawberries, and coconut? I got a bowl and four spoons for us to try the dish--what a keeper (I'm going to copy that; sorry but not sorry)! I've been meaning to try this place for years and it's safe to say it's going to be a regular spot for me! I was surprised by the diversity of their menu and how many gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options they had I personally got turkey sausage and goat cheese in my stuffed popover, but my friend really appreciated all the dietary restrictive options and got an all veggie popover We also got the chia pudding to split and it was so delicious! Also got k pop, which allows you to enjoy the popover itself. Wish they sold some separately (without fillings) and with flavors like cinnamon sugar or a savory one cones to mind. Stopped by here during a road trip to satisfy filling brunch needs. Large parking lot that was half-converted to outdoor seating during the pandemic. Saturday mornings thankfully still table space left as a group left before we arrived. Menu has all sorts of tempting options from large appetizers, to baked goods, to wraps/sandwiches. Decided on the Buffalo Cauliflower ($10) to start - a significant serving of grilled un-breaded cauliflower smothered in buffalo sauce. Simple and satisfying, probably overkill as an app before a meal. Thankfully my entree, the Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese ($14), was a manageable size. Well toasted, pressed sandwich with a layering of meat and cheese. Pretty good meal served with some chips (these could have been salted more). To wash it all down, got one of their canned beers ($7) available. Everything is cleaned well and the servers were wearing masks throughout. Overall good food depending on what you get. read more

I was very excited to give this place a try when visiting! I am generously giving a 3 star because they have an adorable space, farm to table ingredients and delicious food. The service is mediocre and SLOW! We were sat at the communal table with 3 other 2 person parties, which was no problem. Since we were all sat and ordered at the same time, you would be amazed at the various times it took to get food out. I ordered a smoothie that never came, yet 4 others around me got theirs. The 2 women on the end got salads, which took about 30 min to get. Next, came the 2 skillet meals next to me about 10 min later. On our other side, a young girl was telling her daddy she was soooo hungry! All they ordered was nutella french toast and a eggs benedict. She was so full from her smoothie, she didn't eat much. Finally, we had to a random busboy walking by if he had seen our server. It had now been an hour since ordering and everyone else at the table was almost done eating. Finally, my avocado toast and my husbands salmon popover meal came! Toast with avocado spread onto it with tomatoes and 1 over easy egg never takes 1 hour to make. I was very disappointed. My companion had the fried chicken sandwich on a popover that came with a lovely side salad. We shared a side of delicious and perfectly cooked sweet potato fries. They have an interesting drink menu as well, I had the hot dirty chai latte. Quite good! Staff are very friendly and the environment inside was very pleasant. Omg. Did someone say mimosas?! Amazing food? They must be talking about Popover! My friend introduced me to this place, and we decided to come on a Saturday for prime brunch hours. It was full and busy, but we were greeted immediately and sat down with any wait time. We chose an indoor table since it was very warm weather, but they do have a few tables to eat outside. My friend got the protein popover (scrambled eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, meats, etc) and I had huevo ranchero breakfast bowl which was black rice, pico de gallo, roasted corn, black beans, and eggs over a bed of spinach. Omg yum!! Oh, and can't forget the mimosas!! I'm typically an avocado toast kind of gal, or even an açaí bowl fanatic. So I will definitely be coming back here to try those. It's so refreshing to have a healthy breakfast spot with a lot of dishes that I love making at home, that seem to be so hard to find (or nonexistent) in a typical 'breakfast joint'.
