Are you one of those people who grew up eating those frozen Swanson's and/or Banquet chicken and beef pies and loved them? Do you go to Costco and buy a large pack of Marie Callendar's pot pies for those times you don't feel like cooking? If so, you will love this place. I haven't found a place that specializes in pot pies since Moffett's in Bellflower closed. I never got to try them and I'm still kicking myself for missing out so I wasn't about to miss out on this opportunity. I ordered the traditional chicken pot pie with a side of creamed corn. The crust was perfectly crispy and the pie was filled with a reasonable quantity of tasty chunks of chicken. The side of creamed corn was quite good as well. I saw they had dessert pies as well and could not leave without adding a slice of caramel crumble apple pie to my order. It was delicious and I definitely could have eaten another slice if I had one. The one bad thing about this location is the lack of parking. People will double park, blocking cars legally parked while they go in to pick up their orders. If you're in a hurry to leave and the counter is busy, you could find yourself inconvenienced by these thoughtless, inconsiderate drivers. Had the sausage roll and an Arnold Palmer. The sausage roll had okay flavor, but a lot less of the puff pastry than you would expect given the size of the sausage. The Arnold Palmer was given in a 20oz cup filled to the brim with ice, resulting in me getting about 2 sips worth of drink. For $3.50 I expected to actually get a little beverage, so I asked for a refill to which she said "yea we do refills on those," and then rang me up for $1. Not sure what world she's from but I wasn't asking if I could BUY more beverage. I then asked if I could just have more based on how much ice was in it, to which she said they usually just serve 10oz (which this was not) of liquid.... Despite it being marketed on their menu as 20oz. I originally wanted the affogato but was informed they close their coffee machine at 8:30.... It was 8:35. How difficult is it to turn it back on? I have driven by a number of times since they've opened, but I kept forgetting that they were there. I'd go to the one in University Heights, even though I live closer to this one. So one evening.... The inside is warm and inviting! The staff is really friendly too! I ordered a chicken pie which is so good! I love the flaky crust! Of course, I also need the mashed potatoes and gravy. I also ordered the kale salad because, you know, you need to keep it healthy! I love the dressing! Since I had kale, I ordered the delicious key lime pie! So good! Was craving pie during the holidays so we got a mix and match and a whole pumpkin. As a general tip we recommend buying a whole pie. We noticed the individual slices were more on the dry side whereas the full pie crusts were more flavorful (probably because they were fully intact for longer). Their Apple is such a solid choice but special shout out to the seasonal pumpkin. Will return whenever we are craving a pie but more importantly for the holiday seasonal choices! We learned that the same owner owns both. We decided to split up and my wife bought some chicken pies to-go for us to try the next day. For reference, Pop Pie is sandwiched between Bock and Kindred. The menu offers savory and sweet pies inspired from the country down under, Australia ...specially with the meat pies. I've tried the mushroom and leek quiche and the roasted vegetable curry pie, both delicious in their own way. I prefer less carbs and prefer the quiche. The quiche was well baked and had nice color. The egg mixture with the ingredients was fluffy and soft. They were tasty y but the mixture could of benefited from a little extra seasoning. I am not sure why I did not find out about the South Park location sooner-it's so much easier to find parking! This location is definitely super clean, organized and cute! Service was quick and they're super helpful in talking you through the different pie types that are available. I find that one small pot pie is a sufficient for the savory feeling that you need when you're not feeling so good or just want something warm and cozy. These things are also easy to heat up and the crust is super flaky. I can only assume my timing was off and that the pies are fresher in the morning. However, the pie needed more gravy inside. It was too dry and the steak wasn't tender. This was my first time having their pies so I'm not sure if this is standard for them. What I loved about the place is that they have an espresso bar and tea.
