Picked this place due to tantalizing yelp photos. Not a mistake at all! Best pot pie ever! The crust/pastry is sinful! We tried the chicken pot pie, the green hog, which is braised pork shoulder with tomatillos, pasilla peppers and jalapeños, and also tried the sausage roll. Everything was fantastic, my daughter really loved the green hog and didn't want to share! Chicken pot pie was full of big chunks of chicken and veggies and was great! Great pies! I've tried the chicken, steak and ale, and the Aussie meat pie and can say all of them are delicious. Very flaky pie crust, lots of meat filling in all of them. The steak and ale tastes very similar to a pot roast which is amazing. The meat pie is a lot like eating a meaty ragu. My favorite is the creamy, veggie filled chicken pop pie. I only got to try the salted caramel apple pie, and it reminded me a lot of drinking a coke....seriously, the after taste is just like having a cold coke. Not really a fan of it, but I can see the appeal. They have take and bake pies for 4.50 which I'll get next time. For 9 dollars they're on the expensive side, but they're very filling. read more

If you like pie, you can't go wrong with Pop Pie Co... you'll definitely love this place. I've been coming here since their soft opening, which wasn't that long ago. When you walk in, you're greeted with a warm welcome and everyone I've encountered has been so informative, willing to answer questions and make suggestions. These aren't your average pot pies, they're better. Once you have the pies, savory and/or sweet, you'll be hooked. Sometimes you can smell the buttery goodness that goes into the crust. I can tell that the pies are made with quality ingredients and that's a big deal, plus the pies are packed with protein and veggies! They're definitely worth the price. I think I've tried almost all of them. My top 2 favorites are the Green Hog and the Chicken Pot Pie. Everything is made in-house, including the syrups that go into the coffee drinks, what?! This place is fire. Super good Chicken Pot Pie and the other ones look equally as delish. The crust is super flaky and buttery and the filling is rich and flavorful. Got it with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy and it filled me up good! Haven't tried the sweet side of things, but I know a great looking pastry or pie when I see it, and the pies in particular look fire! Nice staff and good vibe! Had a craving for vegan pie and found pop pie thanks to Yelp. Their strawberry rhubarb pie is to die for. The flavor is incredible and the oat crumble on top is the perfect topping. This is the only vegan fruit pie option at the moment. My boyfriend opted into getting ice cream with his pie slice, which they get from the shop nextdoor. I would've done the same, but they do not offer a vegan icecream option. I definitely plan on returning to try their savory pie for dinner sometime. read more

We ordered the Chicken Pop Pie and Curry Pie with a side of Mashed Potatoes. So good! The crust was buttery and flaky, the ingredients tasted fresh - and the mashed potatoes were to die for! Ngl, I was super surprised when the total came out to $40 for a whole pie BUT their key lime pie is the best I have ever had. I would say worth the money 100% bc the quality speaks volumes. I love key lime pie so I've had various over the years. Nothing I've ever had compared to this, thus the 5 stars! My bf says the only other key lime pie that he had that's come close to Pop pie's was in Key West, Florida! Been back a few times. Regardless of who is working the customer service continues to be top notch. Red pork pot pie is my favorite (green hog second). It was a weekend special and it was worth it. A little spicier than most of their dishes with tender pork and potatoes and two green olives. The crust, as usual, the best. My husband's also a fan of The Boss, the breakfast pie. It's filling. Also tried the guava cream cheese pie. The crust is great but my very personal opinion it may have been just a little too thick for this sweet pie. Walking into Pop Pie the first thing that hits you is the intoxicating smell of the freshly baked pies and that amazing crust. I almost had to hold my breath as I was getting hungrier by the minute and had to wait until I got home to enjoy one of the pies. I had read about this small place in an article in my local paper by the restaurant critic, Brad Johnson, who declared that he had the best Chicken Pot Pie in Orange County at this little shop. I am not really a chicken pot pie person but was willing to give it a shot as I was in the area. I selected two meat pies the Steak and Ale as well as the Green Hog and Cheese to share with my son. Also got a side of Mashed Potatoes and Creamed Corn. What really sets these savory pies about is the crust!. The top flaky layer is as good as it gets, and the bottom crust sturdy enough to hold it together, and so tasty as well. The fillings of each were prepared expertly and full of flavor. My son and I could not decide which one we liked the best but in a close vote the Green Hog nosed out the Steak and Ale. The sides were great additions to our dinner. One thing, they look small but are so filling that half way through eating one I had to think about saving the remaining half for later, but NO, so could I really could not stop eating! I cannot wait to go back and try that Chicken Pot Pie as well as some of the other ones. And when I lose the next 10 pounds I am going to get that Carmel Apple pie for desert!! read more

Great customer service! Pre-ordered and prepaid for 2 pies for a Labor Day family event for opening pickup at 10:30am. I arrived at 10:45am and was told they hadn't received their pie order and it would be coming in 35 minutes. I was not a happy camper. I had seniors (75+) in the car with me and I couldn't have them just sit in the car for over 35 minutes. This could have just been solved if they had called me and told me their delivery was late and if I could come later to pick up the pies. I asked if they could deliver the pies, and the nice lady at the front said she would deliver them when they arrived. I was still annoyed to be showing up to my family event empty handed after telling the host that I would be bringing 2 pies. But I was mollified that they would deliver the pies to me when they arrived at the store from San Diego. One of the owners, Steven, called me 30 minutes later and explained that they could not deliver the pies to me as the lady said because they would be pulling someone away from the floor. He offered me a refund and a gift card for my trouble. It was a fine offer, but still disappointing (you can tell from the previous review that I love this place - and I definitely would have preferred the pies to the gift card). I understood why they weren't in a position to deliver, but the whole situation still left me feeling disappointed. At 12:40pm - the doorbell rang and a delivery guy delivered the pies to us. I was so surprised and happy! I messaged Steven to let him know and to thank him and the staff. He told me that the staff arranged for the driver to drop it off on their own because they felt bad about the situation. I really have to commend the team in Costa Mesa for going the extra mile and fulfilling the order with limited resources. Great customer service with exceptionally kind and caring staff. My family loved the pies and a few more people have now been introduced to the tastiness that is Pop Pie Co. read more

I am writing this with a broken heart because I wasn't able to get the Kare Kare pie or any of the other collaboration pies mentioned in this post because it was gone before lunch. Pop Pie Co.- Costa Mesa hyped this up for a week. I had it in my calendar that long. In their earlier post it was mentioned that Pies will be available from 8am to 10pm. However, all pies were gone before noon. Pop Pie is active in social media but they didn't even bother making a post that the collaboration pies are gone before noon. I am grateful to be local because I swing by after I got off work and when there wasn't any left I just went home. Think about those that drove from other cities. I am not making this up you are welcome to read the comments section of both their IG and FB page to see for yourself. I guess there's a reason why Sidecar Donuts (the business beside them) is poppin while Pop Pie is empty, I can ride a bike inside their store. This place seems like it has a lot of potential but what had happened today is very unacceptable so I will unfollow them and probably not go back until my soft and tiny heart heals.As you all know I am always all for the good vibes and positivity but today I am hurt. I was never a fan of savory pies, that is, until I tried Pop Pie Co! The first pie I had here was the Steak and Ale with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. I immediately noticed how fresh and buttery their crust was! In the past, I would have eaten the insides of the pie, but have left a majority of the crust. Not here, I ate every single bit of this delicious crust. The mashed potatoes and gravy were delicious as well. I became a huge fan of their gravy sauce! I hope they'll sell it separately for the holidays! My first visit was so good I had to come for more! This time I had the Mushroom Ricotta Pizza Pie and the Salted Caramel Apple Crumble (pictured). Both of these pies were delicious! The Mushroom Ricotta really shines and so does the Salted Caramel Apple! You really have to try them for yourself! Was introduced to Pop Pie Co. by a friend who brought me lunch (chicken pot pie) it was so good I could have eaten 5 right then and there! Went back w my 15yr old daughter and got more of those PLUS did it "smothered" with mashed potatoes and gravy over top! OMG! Green Hog (pork/green chilies/cheese) and the Veggie Curry pie we're equally delish! Had a side of their creamed corn and THE MOST delish kale slaw (SO GOOD!) Also had a couple of hand pies that were so yummy. A guava/cream cheese hand pie and a lemon curd/mixed berry hand pie. Lastly...a dessert called Caramel Apple Piescream. Basically it's (warm) Apple Pie in a cup w home made vanilla ice cream and topped w crumble and caramel sauce. (Never have I ever!!) I've been twice in one week and plan to take my son and mom there this weekend. I would have posted pictures but ate everything too quickly!!! Steven and Gan (owners) are the nicest people.
