I think I came here with too high of expectations. The reviews here are definitely very generous and I can understand why it may feel nostalgic and comforting however the food here was just mid. I got the single smash burger that is supposed to come with secret sauce but they most likely forgot to add it in. If the secret sauce recipe is mustard on the bottom bun and ketchup on the top bun then they did add it in. The onions rings were also a huge disappointment. Just don't get it. See my pictures below. The onion was not even bite-able. Literally slid right off, the batter crumbled down, it was a whole mess. In the end we couldn't eat it and threw it away. If you're looking for a somewhat affordable place for junk eating, this is your place. It wasn't the worst but this place is not worth the stars they have. I think it's best that you keep this place as a coffee shop only.

This is my FAVORITE new burger spot. Seriously amazing everything - from the shakes to the fries and everything in between. I love the ambiance and the staff here are so, so friendly.

If I could give Diner Noche six stars, I would five simply isn't enough. This is without question, the single greatest dinner spot in Costa Mesa nay, all of Orange County. The ambiance alone is worth the visit. But the magic does not stop there. We ordered the smash burger and the steak frites, which were brought to us by the wonderful Alan. The food was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection, and frankly offensive to every mediocre burger I've eaten before that moment. Above all the true highlight of the evening were the incredible baristas, Garret and Casey. These two are operating on a completely different level of hospitality. Their vibes are immaculate and their energy is contagious. It's rare to meet people who are this genuinely welcoming and fun, they honestly elevates the entire experience. I will absolutely be back!!! Not only for the phenomenal food and atmosphere, but also to visit my new favorite duo, Garret and Casey.

I recently went back after many, many years away and I have to say that the current owners have done a fantastic job of keeping what was always special about the place while updating some of the less-than-stellar things that existed. I think the scaled down menu really does the place justice - because you can still get a Dick's Scramble, but they've kept the menu minimal so everything feels intentional and tastes delicious. It's still diner food, but that's exactly why you're here. The coffee is strong and hot, the eggs are fluffy, and the service is friendly and fantastic. Love the old photos of Costa Mesa everywhere and the outdoor seating for families with pets. Dick's is a staple of CM, and you can tell it will continue to be with this great for years to come. And yeah, still highly recommend the Dick's Scramble.

But come to find out after an hour later, the girl who seats you forgot about us. After being seated, it took another hour for the food to come out. Keep in mind, we ordered everything right when we sat down because we were watching the tables as we were waiting for ours. One thing we observed was how the front door worker was seating people. Party of 4 was seated with three tables. There was room to move the tables apart and seat others who had been waiting but that didn't happen. We came here for Mother's Day and it was packed but service was quick. Not sure what went wrong on staff for Father's Day but it was not pleasant.

Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking, they are open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every day for breakfast and lunch. We came on a Sunday morning and were seated right away. The menu offers plenty of tasty options. It was tough to decide. I ordered the Crab Benny and had my eggs soft-poached, as requested, and they were perfectly runny. The croissant was a nice change from the usual English muffin. The herb-seasoned wedge fries were also great and crispy. The Brown Butter Hollandaise sauce was creamy and flavorful. My family also enjoyed the tomato bagel and the kids' pancake. They cleaned their plate in no time. The portions were good for the price and quality. Our morning hunger was satisfied. If you are inclined to enjoy an alcoholic beverage with your meal, the menu offers some great options like brunch cocktails, mimosas, wine, and more. I'll have to try one of their house cocktails sometime. I opted to get a refreshing cold brew this time. Upon entering the dining area, I was struck by its bright, modern look and local vibes. There is also patio seating, perfect for the SoCal weather. The staff was kind and attentive. It was cool that they refer to customers as "family" when greeting them before taking orders. Our first time was a pleasant and delicious experience. I would consider returning for another meal.

We ordered the shakshuka, a side of blueberry chick'n bangers, lobster scramble, and the threesome. Unfortunately, it took forever for our food to arrive, and when it finally did, some of the dishes were somewhat cold. Nothing really stood out to me, but the shakshuka was my favorite. It was quite flavorful and had the most memorable taste of everything we ordered. Overall, the food was just okay, and the long wait for both the table and the food took away from the experience.

Coleslaw was made to perfection. Perfectly balanced with the sandwich. Usually the coleslaw is really sweet and kills the other flavors but this one was made to go with everything. We arrived around 9 a.m. The parking situation was great, with plenty of spaces, and although the restaurant seemed busy, there were open tables and we were seated right away. From there, the service was confusing and inattentive. The first server came to take our drink order. When my sister asked about lattes, she said they had them but couldn't show us where they were on the menu--and didn't make any effort to find out. We asked for a few more minutes, and then she didn't return for quite a while. Even when she came back, no one offered or brought water for the table or the kids. We tried to give her our food order, but she explained that she only handled drinks and that we had to wait for another server. It took a while for the food server to come over, and then the food also took a long time to arrive. The latte was extremely sweet and not enjoyable. To their credit, they were nice about replacing it with brewed coffee and removed the latte from the bill, although we were charged for the brewed coffee. The food itself was mediocre at best. We ordered one children's meal with sausage and another with bacon, but both initially arrived with bacon. The bacon was very tough. They did correct the mistake and bring out the sausage when we asked. The sunny-side-up eggs were barely cooked, and the pancakes were just okay. My sister's meat-lovers omelet was especially disappointing. It wasn't soft or fluffy--it looked more like a thin egg crepe wrapped around pieces of ham, sausage, and bacon. We also had to specifically ask before we finally received water. For the prices--around $25 per person--we expected much better quality and more attentive service. We spend about the same at places like the Original Pancake House and receive much better food and service. The staff were accommodating when we asked them to correct the sausage and replace the latte, which we appreciated. However, the overall quality of the food, the long waits, and the disorganized service made the experience not worth the price. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

The place they are currently residing in used to be one of those belt driven sushi bars, but now it's pancakes. Which could have been fun with a belt drive system. But I digress. I had never eaten at this restaurant, but had always wanted to so today seemed like the perfect day to do so. Parking is definitely a little bit limited. I can imagine when it gets busy that it's tough to find parking, but I got here early enough in the morning so I was able to find it. If I'm being completely honest, the inside feels like an upscale IHOP. With a modern twist. The booths are nice and comfy, and the syrups are on full display much like IHOP. Wait staff was friendly and attentive, so I ordered the steak Skillet which came with a 7 oz steak, two eggs, potatoes with peppers, mushrooms and cheese, as well as half a biscuit and two buttermilk pancakes. I was very impressed with the steak, I'll be it a little bit tough, it was still a good size steak and very tasty. The skillet potatoes were amazing and the pancakes were very good. My only complaint about the service was I had to ask for my milk two times. Again, it wasn't that busy to wear. It would be easy to forget, but I will slide them some gray so, give them four stars instead of three. Bottom line? The food was delicious. I would definitely come here again. If you happen to be in Costa Mesa and you are craving some good pancakes, this place should definitely be on your list!
