The table had an assortment of take & bake, handheld pop tarts & pastries and slices of pie. The first thing that caught my eye was a small peach apple crumble. I don't believe I've ever had that combo, but I love them both separately. Plus, can't go wrong with a bit of crumble on top. The top of the pie had a cute flower on top too. For the sliced pie, it was boysenberry, so I thought, wouldn't mind having that either! Really happy with both! They were annihilated in two days and I think I had some of it for breakfast. One of the best pies in OC and they have so many flavors. I strongly recommend the pumpkin crumble because it's super crispy out of the oven and still pretty crispy when it's cold. Brooke and her team are really responsive and super nice. They still deliver to your car once you're in their parking lot so you don't have to pick up in person. I've heard some complaint that their pies are a little runny, but it's because they don't use too much starch or sugar as thickening agents. If you can be patient enough to wait for the pie to set after it comes out of the oven, no problem. Their pies give the convenience of 'ready to bake' with the delicious scrumptious flavorful lovingly crafted heavenly homemade pies. We also call them lucky pies. Maybe it's the love that went into the pies. Anyway, every time we wish for a good luck (job interview, kids' SAT/ACT, college application, etc), we bake their pies and eat them. I had the pleasure of having these pies due to working with Simon at Copy4Less. He raved about Brooke's pies and they did not disappoint. Some of our favorites are the Triple Berry Crumb and the chicken pot pie. We've also tried her banana cream pie, strawberry rhubarb and I believe an Apple pie before. They are all delicious. But the reason the triple berry crumb stood out to us was the crumb top! Such a nice texture contrast. I personally liked the individual sized chicken pot pies because I liked the ratio of crust to filling! You really can't go wrong with any of her pies. It is so wonderful baking the pies yourself and filling the house with the sweet aroma of fresh pie. She packages each pie with care and provides wax paper? (Not sure what type of paper -- pretty sure wax) to put underneath your pie and step by step instructions! Don't forget to puncture those hole in some of your pies! Wow! Just wow! These pies are even better than we imagined. So tasty, fresh, and full of fruit. It's brilliant! I love how easy it was to order online and pick up. I stayed in my car and they brought it out to me. The pies are frozen and need to stay frozen so bring a cooler with ice for transport. Each pie is shrink wrapped and in a beautiful sturdy box with easy instructions. And parchment paper to keep your baking sheet clean. The delicious smells filled our home while baking. I bought a pastry top peach melba and a crumb top triple berry. The crumb top is sweet and crispy. You can tell the fruit is fresh. Served both for a birthday dessert last night and just had more for breakfast. I'm drooling! The pies are a work of art and I know first hand how much effort goes into making pies from scratch as I learned from my mom and grandma. Delicious homemade apple pie! Found these guys on an internet search & picked up the pie at their kitchen in Costa Mesa. It was frozen when we got it, and we put it in our freezer until ready to bake. From frozen to complete, it took 90 minutes, then =20 minutes rest before cutting. They even included parchment paper for easy pan clean-up. The pie was delicious- there's a world of difference between homemade pie & store-bought. Great and easy tips she suggested which I found simple enough that I could do and I ended up doing a nice egg wash. It came out looking amazing and tasted amazing. So sweet, tasty just the perfect balance of flavors and paired with some Vanilla Bean Ice cream, oh wowzers! I am now placing a few more orders for upcoming birthdays, etc...I'm getting the Cherry pie and of course the Dutch Apple Crumb because, well, I just gotta. The pie crust was excellent and I'm sure the pie is amazing when it's freshly baked or I'm not sure where I went wrong. Maybe this was just for me but I baked the pie as recommended and let it sit awhile but the filling was beyond watery. It's like the pie was holding an entire beverage for me. The first time I tried a slice of pie from Flaky Apple was at a birthday party and it was the day I turned from a person that absolutely detested pies into a person that continued to order from them. So far, I have tried cherry, peach apple, triple berry crumb, dutch apple, chicken pot pie, bananas for coconut, and pumpkin crumb. Ultimately, it was their crust that sold me. It is SO flaky and tasty! My all-time favorite from Flaky Apple is the pumpkin crumb. The crumb is really amazing and a perfect pairing to the surprisingly delicious pumpkin filling.
