Moulin's boulangerie is the only bakery I buy bread from and I visit at least once a week to stock up for each week. My favorites are the olive fougasse (with olive oil) and the pain sportif (athlete's bread with apricots, cranberries, hazelnuts, etc.), and my mom's favorites are the fig and honey bread as well as the pain sportif (athlete's bread). In fact, my mom also always picks up some of the apple turnovers and oftentimes also gets a few of the canelés (which includes some rum) and regular butter croissants. I am so grateful for the boulangerie because oftentimes the Moulin cafe nearby runs out of certain bakery items much quicker due to the higher foot traffic there and there's no other bakery that compares to Moulin and its boulangerie in OC as far as the quality of the ingredients, meticulousness in preparation, and the great selection of nutritious breads. The Moulin maison home goods store is inside the same space as the boulangerie and there is such an impressive assortment of items on my wish list there like the top-notch flatware sets, beautiful gatti chairs, lovely French fragrances, colorful cups, France-themed books, and beyond. There are the signature Moulin red and yellow tables outside for Moulin (including boulangerie) customers to enjoy their food and drinks. The staff at boulangerie are always so dedicated to their roles and I really love being able to kind of become more familar (not sure if that's the right word) with the staff members on my weekly visits. Most of the staff are super friendly with heartwarming smiles, but even if sometimes someone might not be smiling, I completely appreciate the experience because in France, not everyone smiles all the time but that doesn't mean that they don't care, it just means they are focused on their job and want to do their best. A really cool bonus is that most if not all of the staff at boulangerie and Moulin in general actually do speak French and their pronunciations are super insightful for us aspiring learners. Overall, boulangerie is an irreplaceable part of my life as an OC resident!

I've been a huge fan of Moulin since the beginning and this latest addition (on the opposite side of the plaza) houses viennoiserie items (baked goods) typically eaten for breakfast/mornings. One of my favorites only available at this location is the blueberry, lemon curd pastry. I also love all the raisin pastries. These are the pastries that aren't super sweet. There are also savory pastries such as ham and cheese croissant, and some filled with brie and mushrooms. Space is small. Attached to the Boulangerie is a store which houses French-style chairs and furniture (which you can find at Bouillon) for purchase. Go check it out!

Paid $7 for a bread and can't even make a sandwich with it, due to a big hole in the middle of it, just a pricy piece of rock, empty on the inside, see pic!

Our server who I forgot his name was super nice and attentive. My husband got chicken and I got duck and both dishes were delicious. We also got a Brie cheese dish as appetizer and it was amazing as well. The vibe and the decorations felt really welcoming and authentic. If we're in the area in the future, we will for sure come back.

The lady who helped me - dark hair, really overly colorful eye makeup, and tattoos - processed the transaction but handed me the card without a receipt. When I asked for one, she spent a moment at the screen and then told me she couldn't print it because she had already closed out my tab. I was confused why 1) she didn't give me a receipt in the first place, then 2) she decided that was the only solution - to tell me it could not be done. After I asked her to find a solution as I needed a copy of the receipt, she finally asked her colleague beside her, who pointed her to the right place, and, voila, the receipt was printed. Leading with "I can't" is never the right customer service instinct, especially for something as basic as a receipt. I also tried to buy the butter they import from France. I stood at the case for several minutes with no acknowledgment. I finally walked over to the nearest employee (her name was Lucy) who was finishing up with a customer at the register right next to the butter section. I politely asked if she could help me when she was free. She looked at me, nodded, and said she would. Then proceeded to assist every customer who lined up behind that original customer without once glancing back in my direction. In fact, I had enough time to walk to the bakery, go through the entire gift card situation as mentioned above, and return to the butter section, and Lucy still hadn't looked over. I left without the butter. Moulin used to have fantastic service. I don't know where those regulars went, but two strikes in one visit, with two different employees, is hard to brush off.

The Order: * My Go-To: I highly recommend the chocolate chip cookie with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top. * Variety: They have every flavor of milk, ice cream, and cookies you could want. Timing & Atmosphere: * Avoid Weekends: I would not recommend coming here on a weekend. The store is tiny, and because it's right next to all the bars, the area gets crowded with a lot of drunk people. If that isn't your scene, stick to a weekday visit. * Rewards: It is quite expensive, but it's a nice treat. Plus, you can sign up with your phone number to get discounts for future visits. The Parking Situation: * Virtually Non-Existent: There is no parking lot, so you are stuck looking for small spots along the side of the road. * Accessibility: There is no designated handicap parking, so keep that in mind if you aren't prepared to walk a bit from a side street. Final Verdict: It's a perfect weekday spot for a warm dessert, just be prepared for the peninsula parking struggle!

I've been a regular here at Eller since opening and I've always loved coming in for their coffee,…read morepastries and bread. I haven't been to Eller in the last couple months until this Morning. I've been told that there's new ownership and changes with ingredients (which doesn't bother me) yet everything tastes and looks terrible now. Croissants have huge gaping holes, there's a jalapeño cream cheese croissant and it's just a croissant with a block of cold cream cheese in it..., mushy carrot cake that's barely fully baked, the only pastry that I really enjoyed was the yuzu blood orange danish. Also the food for breakfast and brunch it's really disappointing... since opening they have had the same exact menu with no new menu items, no creativity and just outright bland it so desperately needs a change. The absolute ONLY reason why I gave this review 3 stars instead of 1 is because of the sourdough country loaves... WOW, I would say it's the best bread in OC and the only reason that I'd come back. So if you're looking for a quality sourdough loaf definitely come in for that.... Other than that stay far away from this place and it hurts me to say that now because I saw such potential in this place.

You see everything is made with quality, and with a constant turn around of house made product. It is a cute and quaint spot with limited parking. We came here on a Sunday afternoon, ordered the benedict (perfect poached eggs, hollandaise pretty good), the egg sandwich (on croissant), and the breakfast wrap. The breakfast wrap really surprised me because it was wrapped in a crepe. Very good and tasty. Lattes and coffee are excellent quality. It's not often that I feel a business who does super well should be at 4 stars instead of 5, but I would say for how small this place is, the service is just okay, and I think the prices are quite high for certain things. You will be serviced quickly, at least in the time I've been here, but I think this place has room for improvement - but that's just my opinion. It's good, but I'm not blown away. I would still recommend giving this place a try, because their croissants are wonderful as it the bread - but hard to compete with a few other well known bakeries.
