I've been to this restaurant a number of times already and I always enjoy my time there. The servers are super nice and friendly. I usually either get Pad Thai or Drunken Noodles and a Thai tea is always a must for me. This time I went I got some crispy spring rolls for a starter and they're ok. Very crispy, but they only have veggies and thin clear noodles in them and I like my fried spring rolls to have some meat in them. But they'd be a great option for vegetarians. Been eyeing this place for a while and the BF and I checked it out for lunch today and I waited too long to try it out...delish! Lunch started with a small cup of chicken broth soup and got my belly all ready to indulge. I started with the fried vegetable dumplings which were perfectly crispy on the outside and hot and tasty on the inside. I had the lunch special, Happy Snapper Basil where the fried snapper filet was cooked to perfection and a much bigger portion than I expected for lunch! This is located in the busy Mills 50 area by Guesthouse and St Matthews. I parallel parked a block away to avoid not finding parking in front of it. This would be a great place to go eat before having a beer in one of the many bars nearby. It's semi-small, you could probably fit 50 people in here. It's nicely decorated, good for a date or a dinner with a small group of friends, four tops at a table. There's a small bar and some tables by the window to look out. The service was top notch, although they pushed the overselling. She checked on us often and was polite. The food was lacking, no one was impressed out of the three of us. I got the Pad See Ew with tofu and the tofu was strange, not like bad strange but not good strange. It wasn't really fried or stir fried, Im used to either crispy tofu or soft spongy tofu and it was neither. The noodles all stuck together so that I was eating globs of noodles like a sandwich and they wouldnt fit on my fork. There was no sauce. The carrots were nice and crisp. The portion size was okay. I've been wanting to try Pop Thai and finally made it tonight with two friends who were also there for the first time. We all loved it. It's easy to find with plenty of off street parking behind the restaurant. Nina, the owner, greeted us right away and was extremely friendly. She also waited on us. Two of us had the pineapple fried rice and I had the crispy duck with hot basil sauce. Both dishes were generous servings with beautiful presentation. It was the best duck I have ever had. Cannot recommend Pop Thai enough. I've been eating from here for months, as well as taking out, and each and every time I am 100% satisfied. (And normally back within the week!) The food is wonderful; I almost exclusively order the beef fried rice (10/10, doesn't match any other I've had), but the starter plate which has a small salad with amazing dressing, two fried pot stickers, and soup (which soup depends on time of day) is something I will always order as well. "Pop" is quite accurate. The restaurant has a jazzy pop decor and aroma to it, and it just melts your heart when you see the way they decorate their dishes. Thai food is one of those cuisines that could be presented in various manners and one could really bring about the beauty of the cuisine by choosing their form of garnish. This is where Pop Thai leaves all their competitors behind. The only reason I give them 4 stars was due to the "sweet" taste of drunken noodles. When you walk in, you'll immediately notice how new and shiny and kinda slick-looking the place is, but don't be scared away; it's not a Chipotle-Starbucks. The vegetarian dumplings were so fresh, perfectly steamed and tasty, the Pad Thai was not disappointing and the panang curry with tofu was very nice. Everything just tastes so fresh. Very nicely remodeled and the service was good. We ordered the shrimp cheese wonton appetizer. It was mostly cream cheese not a lot of shrimp. They also brought out the vegetable dumpling for us to sample. It was fried and had a hint of ginger flavor. I ordered the pad thai but did not enjoy it very much. It tasted like ketchup. Unfortunately I will not order this dish again. In addition, the restaurant smelled like bathroom air freshener. The ambiance of the restaurant is more American-Modern, but the food is not, so don't let the atmosphere or outer appearance of the restaurant fool you. It wasn't crowded at all at 7pm on a Friday night. Clearly people don't know how good it is yet! I ordered chicken with chili Thai jam that came with white rice in the shape of a heart (cute touch). Husband ordered chicken panang curry with brown rice. Both dishes also included a small salad with peanut sauce, 2 veggie pot stickers and soup. Everything was so delicious. The Panang curry was awesome and hands down my favorite dish. So much flavor and just enough heat. The Thai chili chicken was really good as well. I played it safe with the sweet and spicy component, but ended up stealing bites of my husbands chicken panang curry. We finished our meal with a HUGE scoop of coconut ice cream. We saw that I came on the side of almost every dessert dish so it had to be good. It was so yummy and the perfect ending to our dinner. Price was great as well - much less than we expected. It was under $40 for all of the food we received. Also excellent service. Our server was very attentive, always filling our waters. We will definitely be coming back! read more

Place was very trendy, the staff was super friendly, and the food was superb. I normally will get the parang but decided to try the chef's specialty crispy salmon and shrimp with parang sauce. Delicious and plenty of shrimp. The Massamam was delicious as well, my daughter did think there were too many onions in it. (She doesn't know how good onions are) Normally, I never get dessert but the pictures of the mango sticky rice looked so cool I decided to try sticky rice for the first time. One of my favorite spots for Thai in Orlando. Pop Thai is deceptively casual from the street view. I remember coming post-workout once and feeling very underdressed. Not to say it isn't casual, just not as causal as it looks! The first time I went they offered a free appetizer that was kind of like a meatball and it was a nice surprise for our dinner. This most recent time I came I got the special which for less than $20 comes with soup, vegetable dumplings, and an entree. You can't go wrong with the pad Thai (extra hot). They'll get the benefit of the doubt. Three stars for an overall rating of "meh". It looks pretty nice on the inside, they've done the space justice. We sat at the southwestern corner of the building, at a table a couple of feet away from a large couch, big enough to seat about six people, which was directly facing our table. Had there been people on that couch, I would have felt like a zoo animal feeding in front of half-interested onlookers. At any rate, we decided to start with an appetizer. The steamed dumplings with crab sounded good, so we ordered those. This was easily the most disappointing part of the entire meal, for a couple of reasons. First, they were already lukewarm when they arrived at the table. That, combined with their mushy texture made them not particularly appetizing. They were also really tiny (see photo). Here's the thing though: I had eaten these exact dumplings just two or three days before at my house. I sometimes buy frozen dumplings at the area Asian markets and steam them up for dinner, and it just so happens that I bought a package of these dumplings just the other day. Absolutely identical size, shape, and taste (the shape is a bit unique due to the miniature muffin-tin style packaging they use). So if you've got a hankering for not-that-great frozen crab dumplings for some reason, I would recommend going to one of the nearby Asian markets and buying a 15-pack for $3.99 rather than order 6 of them here for $8. For dinner, I ordered the Pad See Ew with chicken. It was good, but it wasn't anything to come back for. There's quite a bit of great Thai food in town, and I imagine it can be hard to stand out in the crowd. For me, this meal just doesn't do that. While I enjoyed it, I wouldn't be able to pick it out of a lineup. Our waitress was nice, and attentive throughout the meal (I had ordered the meal "spicy", so she had to keep coming back to fill my water), so no complaints in that department. To me a two-star rating means I just didn't like a restaurant, so it seemed a little harsh to me. After getting over my initial disappointment from being served frozen grocery store dumplings at a ridiculous markup, the rest of the meal was okay. Man, I really wanted to like this place! The decor on the inside was super cute, but we didn't stay because we ordered take out to take with us to the Date Night movie at Leu Gardens (so much fun, by the way). Four of us ordered and they were nice enough to let us all pay separately so that was great and they did give us plastic silverware so also yay... But, it went downhill from there. My Yellow Curry with Tofu and brown rice was the shining star of the meals, it was very good... But, my friends got different Pad Thai dishes and they were all really bland. I tried a little and it tasted like under seasoned lo-mein. It was super underwhelming and just not good, to be honest. I felt bad that three out of the four dishes weren't very good, especially since I was the one so eager to try it out. I would probably go there again for the Yellow Curry and I'd say give it a try, but definitely don't set your expectations too high... Also, maybe don't order Pad Thai lol. read more

All the ladies that work there are super friendly and always greet you with a smile. The service is faster than any restaurant you visit for lunch even when they have a huge lunch rush. I was craving Thai food on a Wednesday evening and walked up to pop Thai on a whim. Gosh it was the best decision! I walked in, was greeted with a smile even though they were quite busy! The owner told me she would be right with me and helped me order my pad Thai with shrimp! She said the shrimp were big and the pad Thai was spicy which is exactly how I like my pad Thai. I took my food to go and as soon as I got home, the smells of lemongrass and spices filled my home! I took a huge chopstick full of tangy, spicy noodles and HUGE shrimps. Having just moved here from Houston where there are plenty of Thai spots, Pop Thai hangs with the big dawgs and delivers a punch with their shrimp pad Thai! I'll be back :) read more

We usually hit the Thai House, but because of their ever changing hours and they decide to close on a Saturday night, we went to try Pop Thai for the first time. It is a fine establishment. Staff is courteous and friendly. I really feel the servers are very well trained. They do not over server nor do they neglect. They were prompt and the food came out hot and fast. I had the Massaman curry and it was perfect. The flavor and the heat were slow building. I'm not a fan of Thai food where the heat/spice overpowers the flavor. That's not to say it wasn't spicy, it definitely had some kick, but it was a bit more understated and the flavor is what reigned supreme. Girlfriend had the Spicy basil chicken. The flavor was excellent. It was not greasy like some other places in Orlando serve. My son had some chicken satay, and I must say, they were fantastic. Such great flavor. The chicken was of good quality and not chewy in any way. The restaurant has a nice vibe. They did good job with the decor. This place is kid friendly, but it definitely had a bit of date night feel when we were there around 7p on a Saturday night. Pop Thai is right on the Mills corridor where there are plenty of overrated restaurants. I was happy to see Pop Thai not continue this trend. This place and Pig Floyds are my goto restaurants in the neighborhood. Went back on 2/25/18 and had a great experience. Quality of food and service is top notch. The restaurant is bright and spotless. Love this place. 3/15/18 - had a very odd experience here. So odd that we in fact walked out before ordering. We arrived at 630p on a Wednesday night. A young woman and a very angry young man were working the front of house. There were exactly 4 tables and they seemed overwhelmed. We were promptly seated. We sat there for a second and we were both like, 'what is that stench?' The stench was a customer at the table next to us. His body odor was unbelievable. So we moved to another booth say about twenty feet away and we could still smell him. So we moved to a third table all the way across the restaurant. Now that we found a less odorous seat, the sun was beating in on the table we were sitting at. We attempted to fix the shade, but to no avail. While this was going on, another table was fed up with the lack of service (we had been in the restaurant a good 15 minutes at this point). The table walked up to the counter and waited, and then asked for help. A waiter with the biggest scowl across his face came storming through the room to angrily take the table's order. He then cuts through between our table and another table and barely misses slamming right into me while seated. No apology. He just kept trucking on. He was pissed and there was obvious tension between him and the other young female server. At this point we realized we could still smell the stinky patron from the other side of the restaurant. There was no AC on in the restaurant and the air was stagnant. We could still smell B.O. all the way across the room. We had been seated for well over fifteen minutes and had no service other than a scowl and nearly being bulldozed over by the grumpy waiter. We left and had a wonderful meal at Thai House. Pop Thai is not our go to thai restaurant, but it can get the job done. Last time we were there I got the Cashew Nut dish. It was super bland and I didn't enjoy it as much as I should've. I was a bit upset but I usually dislike leaving bad reviews against a restaurant. So I decided not to leave a bad review and give this place a second chance. And they did a great job the second time (I got a different dish this time). This time I got the Massuman Curry. The flavoring wasn't perfect, but it was still great. I liked my meal. The Foods were Fantastic. My wife and I have a great first impression at Pop Thai Restaurant. This is our first time. I ordered Thai Paradise and Drunken Noodle. Fish in thai paradise with green curry sauce is perfect together when eating with brown rice. My wife loves spicy food, the server recommended us to get Drunken Noodle because my wife likes spicy. it was level 3 hot but it super spicy. I definitely recommend getting level 2 medium. Pop Thai take out was average. We ordered three dishes. The portions were very generous as was the amount of chicken in each. The shrimp was gorgeous and we felt like it was a fair amount. Green Curry Chicken. Really really good. Everything about it was yummy. I wished this was my dinner. Drunken noodles was dry. :(. Lots of chicken but not as much of the noodles and sauce as I would have liked. It was also kind of bland. I would like to order it again but ask for more flavor and sauce because it has great potential, but wasn't quit there yet. Same story with the Pad Krapow. Basil and chicken. Very generous portion and lots of meat, but lacking into the vibrant Thai flavors and sauciness that usually is seen in the dish. We also had a large portion of Tom yum goong. Tasty, sour, but could have been a scosh bit more spicy. I poured it over my Pad Krapow the next day to give my leftovers a bump. I would try it again just to see if the can figure out how to order and get what I'm looking for in a great Thai take out.
