It's a hit and miss here. Every time they'd mess the order up or short the order a few shrimp. This time it was all a bit overcooked but at least I didn't have to wait around the front. I know it's fast food and the workers are struggling with English and whatever is going on inside but it's not an excuse for halfassing their job. I get it but try to check what is the order and what is being put in the bag to the right customer. It might be fast but it's not cheap and average at best in quality. I was pleasantly surprised at receiving better than average service and food at this Popeye's. I stopped in for dinner and wanted the Popcorn Shrimp Combo Dinner. I asked the nice woman taking my order if they'd be making the shrimp fresh because if the shrimp are sitting under the heat lamp, they're usually a soggy mess. She said absolutely. When she called me for my order a few minutes later she smiled and said "made fresh for you". It was obvious she was interested in doing a good job and pleasing her customers. The popcorn shrimp were piping hot and tasty. The quarter pound portion was huge (I couldn't quite finish it). This pleasant woman gave me a nice smile as we left and wished me a good evening. The restaurant was also much cleaner than a most fast food restaurants I've been to. I don't eat at Popeye's that often but l will come back to this one. read more

I and two friends dropped in for lunch here on a Thursday afternoon. We all got 3-piece chicken meals and I must say it was darn good chicken. Mine was all-white cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes are to die for. My friend says the coleslaw is fantastic but I won't touch the stuff so I'll just have to trust his judgement on that. The jazz music was fun and not loud at all. Our server was quite competent and had our orders out fast. The dining area is clean and in good condition. I always look at the acoustic ceiling tile and theirs is pristine with nice light fixtures. I would've given five stars but they didn't have butter for the biscuits (the biscuits are great without butter it's the principle of the matter) and the prices are just a bit high. Finished my workout and decided I still wanted the sauce Against my better judgment I went to the Popeye's on Manchaca (bigger mistake). My order is always messed up in some way when I come to this one. This time, assuming because the line was long, the guy taking the orders rushed you ordering and didn't fully listen. He didn't put on my ticket I wanted the hottie sauce. Whild waiting on the drive thru I saw the person at the window hand (what I later found out) my drink to the car in front of me. The woman gave it back. Then when I pulled up thru gave the same drink to me! Sorry but in the time of COVID I'm not risking it so I threw it out when I got home. While still in the drive thru I thankfully checked my bag and there was no sauce. I asked the woman at the window for the Hottie Sauce only to find out when I got home that I got one Hottie Sauce and a Sweet Heat Sauce. As I've said before, I don't do sweet ANYTHING on my chicken so that went in the garbage as well. Two stars for quick, accurate delivery.... the rest was horrible. Blackened chicken tenders were rubbery and not at all what I've had at Popeyes in Massachusetts and beyond. Potatoes w/ Cajun gravy tasted way off and one bite screamed, "Eat no more!!" The free six piece Parmesan wings looked previously chewed and were totally disgusting and inedible. If I could give them zero stars I would. I amongst many other customers have been waiting for close to an hour. This is ridiculous for an establishment that has a drive-through. On top of that once we finally received our order it was wrong and still had to go inside to get it straightened out. Customer service is nonexistent. I understand this is a fast food place and I'm not expecting Michelin star customer service. But they can't even provide quick efficient drive-through service. Save yourself time and frustration and just go somewhere else to eat. The reason why most people go to any drive-through is to get their food in a quick and timely manner. This is beyond ridiculous. Just went thru the drive thru here and this place sucks. (7/7/24 at noon). Took the guy 5 minutes to greet me over the speaker to take my order. No "how are you" "hello" nothing. However - and this pertains to Popeye's as a whole, and not necessarily just this location, although this location seems to be the worst offender - the last two times I've ordered here A) the wait was ridiculously long (fine, everyone is short staffed right now, I get it, but it makes me avoid coming in or driving thru at all knowing it'll be 10-15 minutes just to order) and B) the food was practically inedible. Look up "woody breast" and this is what I've gotten now twice from this location and twice from a different one. I could not eat the sandwich. Two bites and I was gagging. He was so slow getting my order that I could probably climb over the counter and get it myself. Another employee asked him a question and he yelled at him said he was having to get his orders himself so he couldn't help. He was rude to his fellow employees and to me. We bought dinner there last night and had chicken strip dinners (mild) with mashed potatoes, coleslaw, green beans, and red beans and rice. We ordered to go and the order was fast and exactly what we ordered. Green beans were an unusual flavor not what we liked. All other sides were good. I'm an Uber eats driver and just went in to pick up an order and the order wasn't ready which isn't a big deal but when I asked for it after just standing there for a minute waiting for them to say something the lady told me to "wait a minute " then threw the cups for the drinks across the counter and told me to fill them and she actually even told me the wrong drinks to fill them with but thankfully I looked at the receipt first. She was extremely rude the entire time and I believe she was the manager, she was a middle aged larger Hispanic lady but I didn't get a chance to catch her name. I went through the drive-thru today around 1 pm, and I specifically asked for two breast and mashed potatoes with no gravy. I got home and opened the box, and they gave me a leg and thigh with mashed potatoes with gravy. sad. I returned to the resturant, and this time I went in. I stood there for 60 seconds before I was acknowledged by any of the four employees. The drive-thru staff (who took my order) was eating French fries out of the bin. Once she saw that I saw her she went to the drive-thru window. After I was acknowledged by the non-manager, I told her I ordered two breast. The manager (in purple) yelled out -"you ordered one breast." Once her employee opened the box, she noticed there was two pieces in the box (for a two piece meal) and none were a breast. The non-manager gave me the two pieces I ordered. The manager here is beyond rude, and needs some customer training, and training on restaurant sanitary habits for her and her staff. This particular Popeyes location is the worst Popeyes in all of Austin and possibly one the worst restaurants in all of Austin. Continually under staffed and miss managed, because they probably don't pay enough! Half the time they don't have spicy chicken or even classic fried chicken to sell so why be open? I tried to order a 8 piece spicy and was told they're out of spicy chicken right now? Then they said would Classic style be okay. I said fine. So then I wait almost 25 minutes later I get to the window and the manager says she's out of white chicken meat to fill my classic 8 piece order! Only had Legs? Really over a half hour in line total, and the chicken place is out of chicken. I spent over half my lunch hour inline to buy food from place that didn't have food. Seriously I tried to oder a couple things and was told they we're out of that as well? Again why be in business. Ever time I show up here its a complete in competent mess. I've been before and drove away and had the wrong order! It's always something. Often times they are out of multiple menu items? I would say only show up here to order all your sides then go the Kentucky Fried Chicken, Bush's, Golden Chick or Canes to get you chicken? Never again given them way to many chances! The owner's need to sell this place and go work at the DMV where they can join a club of people who don't know what they are doing or care! I finally found the time and right Popeyes to try the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and weigh in on the Popeyes vs. Chick-fil-A debate. The four stars are mostly for their chicken sandwich, but the restaurant was clean and orderly. Popeyes Chicken was larger, crispier and thicker than what I expected. Their chicken and bread are definitely better, however, their spicy chicken sandwich wasn't spicy at all. They add some sort of spicy mayo on it, but they put so little that you can't really taste it. My boyfriend asked for extra spicy mayo and after adding a huge spoon of it to my sandwich, it was much better. I like that Chick-fil-A's breading is actually spicy, but overall the size and crispiness of Popeye's chicken was a sure winner. Service goes to Chick-fil-A without a doubt though. read more
