I had a "Caesar Salad" that was not a salad but a bowl of Romain lettuce and was THE WORST I've ever had. The little "parmesan cheese" on the salad was more cellulose flakes than cheese. The chowder tasted like it came from a can and the "popover" was nothing more than glorified WONDER BREAD. I completely understand that COVID has made it really hard for places to come up with new rules and seating but.... $50 for this and you have to find a menu, seat yourself then go to the counter and order your meals, pay for it right then and there. And someone brings it your table.. if you want another drink what do you do?! Who do you ask?? And you have to clean up your own plates and no one even comes to wipe down the tables?!? (We noticed this with other people getting up and leaving and someone else would sit down and didn't know the table was dirty, like us.. we thought it was already cleaned??) Since opening this location has seen many changes. The first thing you see on the door is that they quit serving at 4 pm so that their staff can spend the afternoon with their families. We received our drinks in a timely fashion and ordered our meals. As I watched servers, hostesses, and manager working, no one seemed to be smiling. They seemed to be hustling around fine. The first thing I was surprised about is that we did not receive a popover as we always had previously. Out meals arrived and I had the vegetable quiche entree with clam chowder. My friend has a panini with fruit. The quiche was a small serving for an entree and very thin. There were plenty of veggies, the custard proportion was too small for the amount of veggies (needed to be thicker), and the crust was flaky. The serving was warm but unfortunately way too salty. It should be the star of the dish but wasn't. I was surprised to receive a crock versus a cup of chowder. There was a lot of clams and it was meaty and tender. Again, the chef was heavy handed with salt. I would order the chowder again but not the quiche as it did not wow me. My friend's meal was good and she would order again. She was hoping for more vegan options but was satisfied but not wowed. We did each order the mousse bomb. It was served right from the refrigerator case. A dollop of whipped would have improved the plating. Unfortunately, the mouser was hard so not a true mousse experience. I took half home and ate it at room temperature with a little whipped cream. I usually dine here a few times a year. It is a good place to dine if you don't know exactly what to eat. Menu has Panera like options along with some regular dinner and breakfast options. With exception of fries, everything is good on the menu and never had an issue. Probably the only thing inconsistent is the service. Half the time service is average and other times not so great. Not to a point where you will not return but it will prevent you from going there more frequently. Just moved here from the west coast and let me tell you about taste, and ambiance. We have found it difficult to find a place that contains both. Popovers not only gives you that but the service was tremendous. I went to get a cheesecake to celebrate my wife's birthday and they were very accommodating. The manager at the bakery was brilliant with his suggestions and he was very nice. He actually smiled and talked to me, while the young girl serving me provided conversation to make me feel at ease for once here in the east coast. I am a big fan of both the restaurant chain AND this specific location. First, I love Popovers in general for the plethora of gluten-free food options. Their menu is very clear on which items have GF alternatives AND they have real GF bread alternatives beyond just having GF sliced bread. Second, I love this particular location because their staff is attentive and nice about allergy requests and just plain friendly all around! The physical location is perfect for a "dinner and movie" date night (keep it in mind for post-COVID). It's located in an outdoor strip mall next to the theater and has a few other shops around to fill any extra time in between you may have. Parking is free, and they have good patio seating available if you prefer outdoor dining. COVID safety rules are good and enforced, so this is still a good place to keep on your "to visit" list! read more

I've been to the Epping Popovers several times since moving to the area in December. I haven't had a bad meal yet. I mostly like seasonal salads and entrees. Service has been good.
